    (Very Typically Australian) Agreed.

  • An essentially Australian song don't you think? The tartan jacket? Phwoar! Indulgence on Mr Hays part surely and why not? Good luck to the fella.

  • You have to love Colin to love this. It's not that bad at all.

  • This is truly one of the worst songs I have ever heard... fukkin creepy as well...

  • 'truly the worst song' or is it just your opinion? idiot

  • @z3lka are you trying to say he is cockeyed and don't like people looking at him so he became a god and now rules over the sheeple?

  • i had no idea he was scottish! This just makes him about 60% more awsom than he was before :D

  • ahh, James... NOW I understand.. it's all those gas fumes from driving all day. lol !

    --I-(**)>>

  • love the song. but could've done without the older woman - was she supposed to be a prostitute?

  • Eu adoro As musicas do Colin Hay, so falta ele volta aki em Goiânia pra outro show........ Hefron Kennedy

  • Regarding the beat it's rather obvious that Colin was going for a programmed beat in the first place.

  • Listen to the album on CD before judging the sound of a track. This is a fantastic song.

  • Comment removed

  • I had myself a moment,love it

  • O man ... i was in a Coo Stick Haven... brav O

  • Caros, o que faz o Colin hoje, qual o ano desta gravação ???

  • This song is the only I've heard where you can really hear is accent

  • @TheFotchman you can hear it in transcendental highway as well. both really cool songs. he's from Fife originally.

  • i'm sorry, not feeling it. Can't believe how cheap this sounds. I'm sure this track hasn't been made whit any real instruments. with a computer&fruity loops.

  • A song being made on a computer doesn't make it any worse than a song that was made using instrument. It all depends on the quality and skill of the person making the song. You can't tell me Daft Punk's music isn't well made just because it's electronica or whichever genre it is.

  • Yes your partly right. But we aren't talking about Daft punk here. It's about, Men at work and Colin hay. You really can't hear how cheap that beat sounds ? Sounds like a really simple beat to me. The point is Colin hay is great. But everything else in that video isn't so great.

  • .. Can't really argue with that :B

  • kissynian is right, American radio waves may as well be dead. This whole "American Idol" bullshit only contributes to drone like agreement of what's accepted, but I don't think people are as open to what's really available.

  • Heard this song on a college radio station and loved it from the get go. I thought "that sounds like Colin Hay"; searched it on the net and it was. Good stuff!

  • Just to clear things up -

He was born in Kilwinning Scotland, then moved to Saltcoats scotland (where i live :D ) . Then when he was 14 he moved to Oz.

Just back from one of his concerts in largs (scotland) fucking awesome. His patter in between songs is hilarious. Hot wife too.

  • I was at that same concert, the jethro tull story where he said jethro looked like he was trying 2 mount a shetland pony was hilarious!

  • saw him on thursday night in glasgow, and last year at the caves, hes amazing and this is my fave song..he is one funny guy!

  • Love the lazy eye =]

  • He tells some of the funniest stories during his shows. Told one about a stoner goat that had the whole crowd dying with laughter.

  • Lmao i heard the goat one at the concert today. Cracked me up

  • He is Scottish by birth. Came to Aussie when he was eight. This is his marketing to the us AND how well he does. Unfortunately not with this BRILLIANT SONG!

  • Hmm.

Close, but he was actually 14 when he left for Down Under.

Lol. He classes himself as a bit Scottish, a bit Australian and a bit American. Been all over so the dude has.

  • why does he sound so scottish?

  • Maybe because he's from Scotland? :)

  • @Kapliz sounds more like he's from Northern Ireland to me!

  • @Kapliz thats crazy b/c all of his other songs, he doesnt sound scottish.

  • @falconsfan717 To a Scot he always did!

  • Because he is??

He never left Scotland till he was 14.

If you want to keep your accent, you can. I came from a different area of Scotland with a different accent to where I stay now. And I'll never change my accent.

  • To true I've kept my english accent and i've lived in scotland for 7 years now.

Can't song this song though :-(

  • Great song, dunno why I like it, I just do...

  • i can't understand why this song ddn't catch on in the US market a little more...seems a good fit for MOR adult format...

  • It didn't catch on because America has lost the sense of good music. America is too busy with talentless "musicians" like Britney Spears and Rihanna. Such a shame.

  • sad but not entirely true....i hope..

  • saw him at the Factory in Sydney last week - simply a legend.

  • are you looking at me pal?

  • Absolutely brilliant - but why the Scottish accent?

  • Maybe because the dude is Scottish?

...yes, a Scott in an Australian band, who would have thought?? lol

  • lol

  • because he is Scottish.

  • and yes he is brilliant! I have seen him in concert twice, and met him twice. he is a very talented and amazing performer, who is also a really nice regular guy. :)

  • He is scottish.. LOL . That's why. He and his family moved to Austrailia when he was 13 or 14. Saw him in concert Thursday.. He is f* incredible.. He sang this.. and we sang the chorus.. :)

  • He played Belfast and i missed it - how sad am i?>

  • There will be no ever chance to see him in Italy... so sad...

  • Seen him a cople months ago.. One of the best shows ever..He took time to personally sign everything for people and chat a bit.

  • Ditto- saw him last night- one of the best shows I have evr seen. The old MaW stuff holds up great- even WCIBN which is transformed. If you get the chance, GO!

  • Great song... Haunting...

  • geez what a kick ass song !

I cannot stop listening to it !

  • simply awesome, I love his voice

  • the best voice around the world from "down under":)

  • Just saw Colin last night in Grand Rapids, MI, HE WAS AMAZING!! THE best show I have ever seen!! cannot wait for him to return this way!!!

  • I was there for the GR show too...it's amazing that a guy who's this good doesn't enjoy a lot more commercial success. He's brilliant and funny. Not a bad guitar player either....

  • I TOTALLY agree with you!! He is far too under-rated for his talent. I have never experienced such an amazing artist before him. And I've seen a great deal of great performers, but he is by far the best. Third row center for me..where were you sitting?

  • Colin, I got so much out of this song, and a good video. Thanks, you're a success.

  • I got to meet Colin Hay about 3 years ago in a very small club in North Carolina....It was just him and a guy on keyboard. It was the best show ever. After the show he hung out and autographed. He was the most down to earth musician I have ever met. Very cool guy....

  • I was going to leave a comment exactly like this. Completely agree with all you say.

I saw him perform at the Peninsula Lounge in November 2007 just off the Moorooduc freeway in Melbourne which happens to the be the area he moved to and grew up in after leaving Scotland.

Very very down to earth guy and very good to talk too. It was easy having a conversation with him because he heard i was from Scotland too, so we had the "where are you from?" kinda convo going which was cool.

    Nice guy!

  • kool
