  • I noticed that in most of the photos, the posers hardly smiled. I guess way back then, taking photos were just too exhausting process, not as immediate nowadays in just a click. One had to stand posing for hours to get that striking style. Lol. We actually have to thank them for their 'sacrifice'.

  • @nastykurtbadboy Lol that would make alot more sense but Queen Victoria Suggested not to smile when one's photo is taken to show how seriously this role was portrayed.. Even Today QEII has some straight faces in official photos :) However they all wanted to show enlightenment within themselves so you'll catch a smile in some less formal/official Victorian photos :)

  • @adena539 Is that a fact?? I didn't know that until now. I wonder how you knew that? It appears that Queen Victoria is a true queen outside and inside, and every thing she did, must reflect what a queen should be. That applied to the whole royal families too.

  • @nastykurtbadboy Yes it is a fact :) i know this from different documentaries on the British Royal's .. and when Alexandra Romanov first married into the Romanov family it was said that Russia called her a harsh looking figure and she defended herself saying she was taught by her grandmother to appear taking herself very seriously and yes it became a trend throughout the royal families.. i guess thats how the saying "a picture is worth a thousand words" came from haha

  • @adena539 It's very impressive to know someone like you knowing what most of us know little of. I guess you did a fine homework. Lol. Which royal family is your favourite?

  • @nastykurtbadboy Thank you i really appreciate that :) as for Modern day royals i love the Danish Royals :) and as for history the Romanovs (basically all of Alexandras Sisters As well)

  • Thank you! Queen Victoria was truly blessed! Five daughters! All uniquely individual-

  • had not seen many of thse pictures and i am a student of European royal history, thank you so much, the Princes Alice is my favorite in royal history, a truly remarkable woman taken way too early from life.

  • Queen Victoria's daughters are my favorite royal daughters of them all.

  • Oh, what a great work and so many rare pictures...and Hiikari sounds so finnish. ???? No connections to Finnland? ;)

  • @kuuoro Thank you very much. *-*

Oh, that was so funny. I couldn´t use Hikari in the registration because it's the name of another user, so I put another i xD Anyway, Hikari is Japanese and isn´t my name, because I'm Vanesa and I'm Argentinian haha

  • @Hiikari Hah! I know, japanese sounds sometimes finnish. By the way I did the same thing with kuoro, that means choir(I sing in the choir) and put another u. I would like to change it, but don't know how. I feel myself embarassed if YOU excuse for your english. And me? Happy everyday! A finn in Rome.

  • What a wonderful collection of photographs. I became an avid fan of Queen Victoria decades ago and have read many books both old and new about her and her family and am surprised and delighted to see photographs which I had not seen before. Thanks for your dilligent research. I do wish the slideshow was not quite so fast though.

  • @talmadge1926 I read books about Victoria and her family, but here is difficult found material. u_u You're so lucky.

About the photographs, I found all them searching for the web. In a lot of forums ( Alexander Palace is the best ). But I'm search for a looooooooooooooooooot of page.

If you're interested in pictures of my videos, I can send then from e-mail. (=

  • @talmadge1926 Oh... and sorry about my horrible english. lol

  • Buen video!

    Gracias

    Saludos

  • It was Helena - known in the family as Lenchen - not Helen. Helen was one of QV's daughter-in-laws - wife of Prince Leopold.

  • So... the name of Lenchen was Helena and no the english version: Helen?.

I don´t know that, but I know who was Helen ( Leopold's wife)

Thanks you very much for your colaboration ! I know something new now (=

  • Hey. I just see your comment.
