I'll never forget that night when when we made eye contact outside the club, isolated and away from the crowd. As a die hard Jellyfish fan( as well as Jason) for many years now, a special moment indeed. Understand that I mimicked this guys every move at the time, learned all his songs and sang as well. Collected everything Jellyfish that I could get my hands on. Since he was the most prominent figure out of all of them at the time, I devoured all of his stuff- including Eric Matthews.
I saw Jason play at The Bottom of the Hill, a little club in SF back in May of 97'. He played this song there as well and in some strange way still loves to play it. I will not forget his response when a friend of mine that came with me yelled Jellyfish right at the end of it and respectively enough Jason replied... "Jellyfish? "I was in School of Fish". Anyway something to that affect. I was shocked and he didn't even site the song he was covering. A little dissing on his part. Go Jason!
@lionsgateblows The suits? It's funny that whenever a band doesn't make it, it's the record company's fault. What if it was the band's fault? They couldn't even keep it together after two albums. There was a toxicity in that band that stifled it. They didn't need the suits' help on that. Do you think Bellybutton would have sounded like it did with a bunch of meddling? The band has video and tour support and national TV exposure as well.
I saw Jason play at The Bottom in 2002 and he still played this song. It was great to hear JF by one of the members. Truly the best part of the evening and magical. Later it was great to talk with Jason and get a picture together.
Utterly captivating - what a Rock moment at this crate digging spot - Jason puts his all into a classic, many years after the greatest post-Beatles band ever dissolved. Check out the Meat Loaf documentary to see the obverse Rock moment, with a hack milking bad theater for happy stadium fans - but it's all good. The Gray's Ro Sham Bo - yes indeed awesome.
I agree...But too bad that he never continued on with them.. And the Grays, well..two geniuses in one band.. I can see how that would have been difficult for Brion and Jason.. Jason is a much better vocalist than Brion, it's good thing Jason Went solo.. What else could he do?
isn't this a jellyfish song? O.o

Sweet! Wasn't it Brian's Jonestown Massacre opening that night? Anyway, do you remember that moment I mentioned earlier and his response?
Also saw Imperial Drag twice once in 96' opening for Alanis Morrisett @ the Greek Theatre in Berkeley and @ Slim's in 97'.

Jason just doesn't have the range like Andy to pull this off.

A classic Jellyfish song.
If only Roger and Andy would have let Jason's songs be a part of the future Jellyfish albums.
What a shame, they were great.
