This film was made purely so Marc Bolan could act crazy, play music and wear as many insane outfits as he could find. Having said that I am so glad this film was made and that Elton John and Ringo Starr were involved.
This is the version I heard first. I'm 19, a younger fan. Got the Born to Boogie DVD when it came out in 2005. I asked my grandparents to look for it in the UK (they auction things off and go to the UK often), thinking it would never be release in the USA. They found it but they were told it wouldn't play here. Much to my surprise, I saw it on Amazon and they got it for me. T. Rex should've been bigger here in the US! I prefer this version over the single that was released.
One of the coolest damn things I have found on YouTube for many a moon! I loved seeing Elton John before he became the celebrity weirdo he is today....back when he was a kick ass musician. Thanks for posting.
this was when Ringo was at the top of his game as far as drumming the dummy should have joined a band ummmmmm, like T-rex for instance, instead he wanted to stand out front singing , these guys tgt could have been a kick ass band, hell they could still do solo records
Thank God this performance was recorded and preserved. It's one of the best versions of COTR, and oh wait, is Elton John wearing normal clothes in the 70s?!?!? O_o
Wow what a HOT version? A solid workout by Marc & Elton (& Ringo + mullet). I advise u all NOT to watch the painful version Elton did with the lame Peter Doherty a few years ago.
ed shaughnessy, buddy rich, neil peart, keith moon..............yea ringo was average at best. speaking of Best, add him to the list of good drummers too.
@trottet Average at best? Listen to Strawberry Fields, A Day In The Life, Come Together, Rain, She Said She Said, Abbey Road medley, etc. Ringo was a great and highly influential drummer. A master of subtlety. Being flashy doesn't make you better.
Ringo Starr, Elton John i'm familiar with but Marc Bolan,...hoooboy,....my se utah hillbilly roots are kickin' in, i heard of Sweet but Marc Bolan, wow, this guy's a TOTAL SENSATION,...thumbs up to ya SameMarcChannel and thankin' ya for another GREAT share! = )
Apparently there were more songs recorded in this jam session.According to what I've read besides Little Richard's Tutti Fruitti and T.Rex's Children Of The Revolution, there was a version of T.Rex's The Slider and Little Richard's Long Tall Sally recorded too.
one of the most influential performers in rock music, check out electric warrior. one of the ground breaking rock albums of all time, it had everything ?
@slawek033 Are all 12 people that agreed with that absurd comment your family and friends. Bolan was a fine musician but give me a break ! Besides they're so different. I also like this video and will continue with a perfect score. #106
@vzlanod Answer: Ignorant people who haven't listened to his amazing and innovative drumming in albums like Revolver, Sgt Peppers, The White Album, Abbey Road, etc.
@Xmenfan246 Don't forget that Ringo referred to himself as "your average off-beat drummer with funny fills", however his "funny fills" are probably some of the most recognisable drum fills in history, and have been an inspiration for people such as the late, great Mitch Mitchell, Liberty DeVitto from Billy Joel's band, Dave Grohl and myself. I have instructed my drummer to make sure there are several 'Ringo-style' fills in my songs.
