  • I love you Karen Carpenter.

  • Karen deep voice

  • Only yesterday, we had such good music!

  • Another timeless classic by an artist taken too soon! It never matters what mood I am in I could listen to her voice all day.

Richard was an amazing songwriter and the world lost a true angel when Karen died.

    RIP Karen x

  • This song initiated my first crush and I was 9yrs old.I never got to tell her.

  • i know who is similar her voice P!nk

  • Her voice so smooth, get in to your ears, thru your mind and straight to the heart.. Thanks for the memories Karen.. Love you

  • Love this song, love the Carpenters (New Haven's own). Rest in peace Karen. No one can take your place

  • does anyone know who played drums on this recording?

  • @xstugee I'm not 100% sure, but it sounds like Karen herself playing that drum part. She is also a very talented drummer and has some unique patterns that she would play. This really does sound like her though.

  • In an all too real and sad way, I feel that the lyric "In my own time, nobody knew/the pain I was goin' through" was actually about Karen Carpenter. She was amazing. She was beautiful both outside and, from what I've heard, she was a good person. It's just sad that she didn't think she was as beautiful as everybody else did.

I LOVE the Carpenters! They are totally amazing! Karen is truly an angel.

  • I just love her voice........this song and all her songs. She's really an angel.

  • Karen Carpenter is has the best voice.. and i love it' because of that i love listening and singing their songs... : )

  • I think that Karen's brother could have made anyone a star, so talented as he is... Of course the siblings make that perfect sound together, but the heart of the harmony was Richard (this is how I hear it). I wish he weren't so much in the background all the time. His voice is perfect and he looked good. Where is he now and what is he doing...?

  • @utasalokkim i don't totally believe you...i can't imagine rihanna or any recent artists could sing these songs as good as karen...the simplicity of karen's voice is neither in any singers before nor after her time...but i do believe as well richard is a great arranger...in other words they 2 make a perfect match...

  • @utasalokkim He has a lisp... if you hear the work he's done solo, it's pretty easy to detect. Though besides that, he's good

  • Their songs always make me smile and feel sad at the same time, I miss the old days and they seem so far and happy

  • thats what i call "music"!

  • 8 people will die for Justin Beiber(gay)

  • I can't help but wonder what Karen would look like today...

  • @gforce4all

    Interesting :)

  • @gforce4all or sound like

  • I listen in 2011 ^ ^

  • @114402088

    Listening in 2012 B)

  • Voice of an Angel!

  • karen still has the best voice i have ever heard!

  • Another timeless Carpenter classic. 100 years from now people will still enjoy this masterpiece.

  • what can one say?...beautiful

  • one of my fav.

  • Karen Carpenter was and will always be the best singer ever...

  • Que hermosa canción

  • Am I alone in that by listening to this kind of music it is often the only way I can find a mental and emotional refuge in this dysfunctional age?

  • @jeff62rey You are definitely NOT alone in this. Music is the wings that lets one's soul fly and be free.

  • @CodeNameSnakeBite Well said! Thanks and may the Music soar in and through you.

  • @jeff62rey Not alone at all man! I'm a 50 year old dude. Karen is the one singer who, in all my my 50 years, made me cry with her music. Now that's powerful music!

  • wspaniała, niezapomniana Karen

  • PERFEITA CANÇÃO, LETRA MUITO BONITA BONS TEMPOS

  • beautiful karem , gold voice

  • rest in peace dear Karen.

  • LOVE THIS SONG!!!!! Great voice.

  • LOVE THIS SONG!!!!! Great voice

  • Karen had a velvet voice...

  • @MultiPalp During their career together, Richard was pretty much the brains behind the act and he was careful about what songs he'd give Karen to preform not settling for anything less than what he thought was right.

  • @thespeez Yes, u right. The Karen's brother was the brain of Carpenters, but she was the face of the band. I miss her too much. :(

  • @MultiPalp On a Compilation album (CD) released in (I believe) 2001, this was mentioned in the liner notes. Most of their hits including this were released when I was in elementary school. I remember hearing many of them back in the day.

  • Richard is probably one of the more underrated American songwriters. He's right up there with Burt Bacharach, as far as I'm concerned. Interesting that neither was a lyricist as well.

  • baby, baby feels like maybe better than baby baby baby ohh

  • All her songs are telling us how she felt all through her life, we were enjoying the songs, but if you actually listen to the lyrics shes was crying out for help...........:( Funny how we all cant see whats under our faces sometimes.........

  • CORRECTION!

This song was released in 1975, not 1985.

    :P

  • Karen really sings like an angel. Why did she had to leave us so early?

  • There is almost some kind of eeriness but at the same time overjoy on this video that she looks like she's walking in the grounds of forest lawn, resurrected!

  • Really epic!

  • me and my wife have been to hell and back ,our friends and family vanished ,but this song keeps me going ,i look at her and i come alive, great song

  • always be grateful to my mother for introducing me to the carpenters many years ago....still one of the best voices there has ever been...althought i like todays music not any of todays artists will have a voice as pure and classic as karen!

  • literally spine tingling, I dont know what makes me shiver more, that bass or her amazing voice.

  • A Justin fucking Bieber border around a Carpenters' video? Holy crap this is going to cause singularity and the end of the world.

  • All their music is perfect!! Karen C.'s rich and soulful voice is beautiful.

  • Put it on Steve Jobs Tribute video

  • Those VU meters look like they were taken from a 3M M56

  • I don't even understand why there is a dislike button for this video.

  • @Jim6019 Yes?

  • @mrsjaspercullen41 cave men

  • Man! They were good! What a voice she had! Nobody sings like this poetic today. Nobody. I miss them. I remember this song when i was a kid. It was one of my favorites. Still is.

  • Richard was talented, but I always felt that Karen's once-in-a-lifetime gets lost in the production...

  • Wow! Karen is simply amazing...

  • Nunca te olvidare. Siempre estaras cantando dentro mio.

  • wow i remember seeing dis in my music class

  • For the Love of God! Don't like de music? SO DON'T WATCH THE VIDEO AND DON'T DISLIKE IT! Go the hell!

  • how can ANYONE, ANYONE DISLIKES THIS!?

ARE THOSE 4 PEOPLE EVEN HUMAN!?

  • She had just an angelic voice. Have you noticed a lot of her songs were talking about her inner sadness!

  • God is with Karen I Loved You Sweet Dreams in your eternal rest

  • this song remind me the good times of the 70s.

  • @palacios871 I was thinking the same thing watching this.I was born in 1975, but I think 1975, to 1980 was the only time in my life I was truly happy.

  • I LOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOVEEEEEEEEE CARPENTERS!

  • THE IDEAL MUSIC WHEN YOU ARE IN LOVE!

  • oh my godness!

  • Karen looked so good in this promo video. I will always contend that she is one of the 3 top voices in rock/pop history. Beautiful...

  • a voice from heaven nobody will have a voice like that

  • I love Karen.

  • Richard Carpenter bullied his sister merceylessly. he called fat. i hope you happy now richard in life of luxury thanx to the efforts of a suicide you played a 98% blame in. yeas go cach another royal check and buy some more meth jack***

  • @pbrick6301

Richard had nothing to do with Karen's anorexia. The press called her chubby in the beginning of their carreer, that's what probably started it. It al had to do wih the fact she was so insecure on stage and in life in general. It's tragic but blaming her brother is stupid.

  • @Larissa1973 Sorry, no. The chubby article is a complete fabrication which was put into the tv movie for the purposes of ratings, I suppose. She never collapsed onstage, either. Richard let all of that go, though, as he was the executive producer of the film. "Little Girl Blue" tells the story. she was NOT insecure as a performer: she knew full well what a great singer and drummer she was. If you go to "Google archives", you will nothing but articles describing Karen as "pretty," "foxy," or

  • @Larissa1973 whatnot. Richard and her mother held her back, owned her, in a sense. He called her solo album "shit" and never supported her. He even took her away from the drums, which she loved more than anything. He is heavily responsible for what happened to her, and he is aware of this, I believe.

There is not a single article ever written in Karen's lifetime which described her as "chubby." It was Billboard Magazine which called Richard her "chubby brother," however.

  • @improvguru Okay,if you say so.. You sound as if you know what you're talking about.

  • Why! Why no high views! WTF!

  • Thanks. the best sound.

  • i miss my mommy!!!this is her most favorite song!!! i

  • @kihenie28 I hear you. My mom loved the carpenters to.

  • @pbrick6301 my mom died last april 16 this year,,iam so sad and this song always reminds me of her, wherever she is right now i hopo she is happy,,,i hope she help me to help us all to move on,,,

  • I miss them

  • Saw a TV show about the Carpenters 3 nights ago and I can't stop hearing her voice. I'm being haunted by the best singer ever to grace the world!

  • @aoxomoxoa88 Well, of her day anyway. I guess I'm just partial to Liz Phair.

  • ilove ds song da dbest tlga.

  • And they did this without "auto-tune". Auto-tune is crippling the industry. Harmony and pitch take work, hard work, in order to achieve this level of quality.

    I weep for the future.

  • This song is AMAZING! I'm just about 20, and I can't stand most modern music. I love music like this. The Carpenters were spectacular. It's so sad that Karen's dead. she had the most beautiful voice ever! God bless you, Karen, and everyone who has ever heard your wonderful voice.

  • the carpenters were legendary may their music live on forever R.I.P karen xxx

  • Karen and Richard hit #4 in Billboard, 5-24-75. God bless ya, for postin' it. Thanx! RIP, Karen.

  • Why am I watching a Carpenters music video on a tiny little screen surrounded by a gigantic, gorgeous, humongous border of Lady Gaga?

  • I love how the carpenters have ZERO dislikes. This is great. :)

  • @Johan121193

I think it is great. You obviously know great music and are not intimidated by which era it comes from. Yeah for you!!!

  • her voice carried many memories of all the goodness. and of sadness of her own life in which she mirrored in her songs. bless her....

  • Karen sadly died young, but what a legacy she left

  • Why does this only have 73,808 views? It should be 1million views+...

  • It is the most meaningful song in my mind!!

  • its so cool that everybody loves the song

  • Anybody know where this video was filmed? It looks like Buchart Gardens, Victoria, British Columbia.

  • imagine im only 17 but i prefer to listen with this great songs .. . i hope .. teenagers today would still choose this than pop .. :(((

  • The Carpenters rock from the Rat Pack of Perth xoxoxox

  • They look really cool in this video too.

  • I'm only 3 years old, and when I'm not asking for a cookie or pooping my pants, I'm listening to the Carpenters.

  • EVERYBODY likes the Carpenters. They were certainly iconic and popular in the 1970s. This is probably my fave song by them, and a close second is their version of 'Hurting Each Other'...

  • reminds me of my childhood, and i'm only 16

  • ..",I really miZ..this song!!! if i'll giving a change to duet miz karen carpenter!i want her..couze her voice is very fantastic...but she already pass'awy..so sad..she's beautiful..and her song is a meaningful..I love her..the way she song an Only Yesterday!!and i'll never forgot when i was an elementary pupil..I always listen her songs..I LOVE YOU karen...!!!

  • God, that opening Low E-flat note is UNREAL...what range. I always find myself shaking my head in disbelief at the beauty of Karen's voice...

  • I cried the day I heard of Karen's passing. What great musical pleasure the Carpenter's have brought us over the years... no one will ever come close!

  • This is my favourite song of all time. I heard it for the first time back in the early 1980's and since then it has been stuck in my head. Just seeing the video for the first time...love it!!!!! Karen is the greatest female singer of all times (sorry Celine and Whitney).

  • great voice, died way to young

  • Something quite wonderful about the very beginning of this song in particular.

  • heard this track on the radio first time yesterday and its been in my head since, beautiful song . its a shame i discovered it only yesterday.

  • @khy786 it made it's debut in early 1975. I'll never forget it. Great memories go w/it
