This is pretty cool - especially the graphic- but these things haven't been able to trick me yet. I can always pinpoint when the new note comes in, probably because I'm used to listening for other instruments when playing in an orchestra.
One adjustment you could make: try using a different time interval between the notes. Right now, one note exits just as a new note enters, which helps emphasize their entrance/exit. I'd be interested in seeing if that strengthens the illusion.
It's the same tone over and over for those who dont understand.. you can play this video over and over but it will seem as if it continualy gets higher or lower with no end..
at first, you'll hear the sound as if it goes from low pitched tone to high pitched tone, but instead of going high pitched, it goeas all way back to low pitched tone, so thus, the tone sounded as if it is repeated.
At 0:05 you'll realize that the tone just got back to its low pitched tone, rather than hearing it reaching the high pitched tone, so does at 0:10 or 0:12.
This one is actually pretty easy to pinpoint when a new note comes in.

It's so weird. Just sit and focus on it and it's like... every tone you've ever perceived is a lie. So weird.

Hahaha no you jerk, it's a bunch of tones that makes our ears fake the octaves
Axamunia 2 years ago
You can play it on the piano with two octaves kind of switching.

The scale goes up and up but It doesn't seem to get any higher or lower because all octaves are being played at once.

Dude...I totally get it. Beatsystem's "Endlessly Downward" is the epitome of that lesson. Nice one!
