If the big branches fell off the trees from whatever the polices were shooting at the people, I wouldn't be surprised that it could blow off people's legs. I was told tear gas canisters can do such damage if not used properly. The explosion should have been in the air, not on the ground where people were.
This incident has been blown way out of proportion for political reasons. The demonstration was illegal, and the police had every right to disperse the crowd. Since the PAD fought back (even by the use of weaponry), some use of force was clearly appropriate.
Ongoing probes will help explain how severe wounds were inflicted on some protesters. Most likely their findings will be that inappropriately produced teargas canisters/grenades were the cause. In any case, there was no "killing field".
I supported Luvsiam as I am totally agree with Luvsiam. Don't judge anything when you seen only pictures or clip but I no need need to tell you this as you studied media communications for 4 years in UK :) Please come to join me in the government house.
Naesalar....? if only tear gas, who could people lost legs? so strange isn't it? I think maybe you should experience this tear gas. Well, at least we can prove it that it is not only just the tear gas :)
simonjamespinnock, you should come to see and feel the situation yourself. People like you didn't get it! You will never get the feeling how unarmed people lost their lives, legs, hands and a woman was crushed to death in the riots by the tear gas bomb, NOT nomal tear gas.
If you have 4 years in media communications in U.K. , please don't say or judge anything by only watching this 3 min video clip, there are more stories behind these.
I studied media communications for 4 years in the UK and most people realise that a story isn't a story until it becomes 'newsworthy'. To make any story 'newsworthy' it firstly has to be amplified and secondly, sensationalized. People like you or journalists who think they report the truth without bias are some of the major causes for disharmony within these countries.
++++++++Killing field is over exacturate. And your translation isn't accurate. +++++++

the Deputy Prime Minister Chavalit Yongchaiyudh resigned correct? Because he was aware that the police used excessive force?

Not only he resigned, he has become a monk.

no one died in front of the parliament house on that day.
there were 2 deaths.
1) a girl who died because she tried to invade the office of police in the evening.
2) a PAD guard who accidentally ignited his own car bomb from far away.
