i've found the medal's of a soldier called Wiliam Kendal who died in west-vlaanderen he was a private from the lancashire fusiliers. sadly he was kiled on 04/09/1917 during a bombing that the british called ''Dirty bucket camp,'' the cemetry were he lies is called ''Gwalia'' that used to be a farm house accupied by the british as a hospital. But the question is how can i find picture's an his age and other document's i wan't to know more about him and find out who his great-grand children are.
@thetoplap you could try contacting the lancarshire fusiliers (or what ever they are called now) thats how i find out that my great dad was shot at the battle of the somme, we went to the royal warwickshire regiment museum and they gave us all the info :)

My great Grandmother & grandmother were in a small town called Andenne, in Belgium where some1 killed a German . A day later, the German commander gathered 180 men women and children and had them all shot on spot. In ww2, My grandmother & great grandmother left on a 40 day trip to Paris. They had to return back, and on in the city of origin, a German Commander asks " why did everyone in this village leave?" My great grandf. was heldcaptive byhim, he heard the story and let him go. :) true story
What the hell is so great about war, killing people, smelling the rotten bodies getting eaten by rats on the battlefields and living in fear to be the next being killed? There is nothing great about that!
maybe i know what you mean and you're right (in a way). There's nothing great about the war/slaughter, the great ones are the men who've been through this and i have respect for the men who have to live forward with all there memories.
Maybe the feeling of protecting youre country? patriotisme? these words makes all sense, but if you ask me to go to war now i won't, theres no more honor in it.....
My Greatuncle has fallen here in 1917 during a night attack.Pls lay a poppy down for me there. Its Sanc.Wood, third trench deep here was his underground. Thanks from me
Ben zelf 2 jaar geleden met school naar Ieper geweest (en de rest van de standaard dingen zoals tyne cot & hill 62) vond het echt zo indrukwekkend!! Wil echt nog een keertje terug.

Yes it was disgusting what went on there.
Axes were even used on some of those poor defenceless people....and hundreds of homes destroyed .too ....

I'll lay a poppy down for you.
They knew hell, some were 16.
Constant fear, wet feet month after month, cold, so cold, loosing friends, loosing mind.
And so a lot without grave.

Good video mate. Both my Grandads were light infantry in WW1, with my parental Grandad a regular.
They both survived but the latter lost a brother MIA, he appears on the Thiepval memorial.
They were hard, brave men.
Respect
