It's difficult to tell how big this is, since there's nothing to indicate scale, but and it looks like the remains of a Humboldt squid to me. They usually stay down south off the coast of California, but sometimes they get stuck in the wrong current, which takes them too far north for them to survive, and they sometimes wash up on shore totally intact where I'm from, the southern Oregon coast. I guess by the time they reach Alaska this is what they look like!

didn't it occur to anyone to walk up to it and take closeup photos? this is why these things like big foot, the Loch Ness Monster, etc. are seen as hoaxes. I pics are always out of focus, the one who is taking the pick does not follow up the one pick with several more closer to the thing being photographed, etc. Next time someone take a pic of a big foot, chase it, get close ups. We'll find the camera later after it has killed you, publish the pics and give you due credit.
