Ahmedabad rising ! Every year I visit there, and there is newer shopping Malls, multi plex movie theatres etc..Ahmedabad maintains a good east west mix. PROUD TO BE BORN THERE. Modi has done an awesome job. Ahmedabad is going is another global city similar model as Singapore. Great video! I really like this video a lot. The rap is *cool*. Gujarat is a rich state and should present as such. Men of Gujarat have improved on dress code from khadi bhandar to nice shirt and trousers & women are dressing up professionally also instead of Islamic duppatta wear. This is transition time for Gujarat. Would Modi hire me? I am a great nationalist and a superb politician~!

Sorry Dude, what makes you think that shirt and trousers are Indian. On one hand you talk of being nationalist and on other hand propose copying west. MODERNISATION IS NOT WESTERNISATION. Hum to goro ko dhoti pehnayenge. Self-respect is pre-requisite to becoming a politician.

Nationalism is in the heart best expressed by words and actions. Anyone trying to express it through clothes doesn't make sense at all to me. India is not a very poor exploited nation coming off British rule that all these people need to copy Gandhi and wear Gandhi-wear. You are right: MODERNIZATION IS NOT WESTERNIZATION. Hence, wearing better clothes should not be construed as Westernization. In fact, stubborn clinging to a backward mindset is a sign of low self-esteem & poor political skills.

See this is what I am trying to say to you. You automatically assume western clothes were "better" in your response and refer to Indian traditional clothes as "backward". And you say I have low self-esteem. You are an older generation that believes still Modernisation to be Westernization. Sorry we youngsters don't think like your generation. Besides, Gandhi did not invent dhoti, our forefathers all wore it.

You make value judgements on incorrect facts. There is nothing wrong with Western wear for better business and sure go ahead and wear a Khadi Bhandar dhoti when you go to the temple. FYI education - Gandhi did not wear dhoti. He wore pancha to represent poor people. One more thing - Islamic duppatta wear that a majority of young Indian girls wear indeed has Islamic origins. Gujarat is not so poor anymore and change is good. Embrace it with an open mind!

Try suggesting something from our own culture to somebody in west and see how they reply "Oh its interesting" and then kept back politely(Interesting being a synonym for I don't like it). Try expecting "Open mindedness" from them. Oh BTW we do not retain our culture/clothing because we are "poor" as you say, but because we take pride in it.

If you want respect for your society get others to follow you. Followers are never respected.

...and look at how you refer to "Khadi Bhandar" Dhoti. Yours is a breed that will pay PREMIUM price for Italian HAND-MADE shoes but thinks and ridicules an Indian Hand-made cloth by thinking Khadi to be cheap.

How can you market anything Indian to others if your own perception of everything Indian is cheap? You can make Indian weavers rich by selling Indian bandhani, Indian chikankari salwar to foreigners and NOT by importing Marks & Spencers/Louis Vuitton to Indians.

More incorrect assumptions. First off, those are local brands (for me) and not imported. Mine is not a "breed" of ordinary people who crave for Italian shoes. In fact, my affordability level is higher than that but I choose to live simple and modest. It's not about the price of Khadi vs. imports. It's about selecting suitable attires for business and spirituality that projects the image. There's no reason why Indian manufacturers can't dominate in both attires for global business and Khadi.

Again incorrect facts and hypocrisy. You say "lead don't follow" and you are waiting for the West to lead by adopting cultural apparel! Why so? Adaptation, assimilation, and open-mindedness is at the core of Vedic culture, not Western culture. That said, there is nothing likable about Islamic duppatta wear - I personally think it is way uglier than both traditional Indian and Western outfits. Hindus and Christians worship the same God - Krishna or Kristos or Christ - there's cultural similarity.

You cannot force similarty between hinduism and christianity just like that. Similarity is between all the 3 middle-eastern religions: Christianity, Islam & Judaism and all 3 of them claim monopoly on God, the only way to reach god. Their holy books themselves are thus FUNDAMENTALLY INTOLERANT. None of the Indian-origin religions(Hinduism, Jainism, Buddhism) claim monopoly on God. Every Indian religion is ONE BUT NOT THE ONLY approach to reach God. Our religions are compatible with coexistence.

While Abrahamic religions have concocted books, there is still a chance to bring all of mankind in oneness if they get to know the facts.
