  • I can't speak Italian let alone neapolitan. But there is a real primal energy to the song and the rhythmn evokes deep desires

  • Its actually native from Napoli and sung in their language

  • Pelle d'oca!!!!!!!

  • Whether you smoke or not you still make noise its the fire you bear in your heart. When the night falls and the sky gets dark the mere thought of you makes us tremble. Those who live with you dont be surprise if they go mad they really are mad. The only safety for us would be to run away from you... and yet, where shall we go? sooner or later this river of lava will drag us along and leave us homeless. Youre a mountain, but what a mountain.
  • IN ENGLISH: Vesuvius Youre a mountain, but a swearing mountain. Youre death, but death that may shake. Mountain of lava, of hundreds of streets, you hold my life in your hands. Is this a place for homes or a place for jail? Where youre locked from morning till night? Youre purgatory for all these people who live in slums and who live in need.
  • Makes the hairs on my arms stand up. I'm from Scotland but my mother is from S. Giorgio a Cremano ( Near Naples .) She made a point of taking us there ,saving her money so she could see her family with us her children. The first time I went I was so young I can't remember. So proud to be part of a very unique and special culture and have a feeling for the land and the people etched into my mind.

  • @RICOBLAB I love Scotland! I'm from Naples and the first time I visited Edimburgh I fell in love with the city. Then I started moving around and I totally fell in love with the whole Country! Viva Scotland!!!!! :D

  • This song remind me of picking the grapes in Canicattini Bagni. So beautiful

  • I LOVE THIS SONG

  • i am constantly unimpressed by the flute as an instrument

  • @smoekdacheeb huh? the flute is awesome in this.

  • @smoekdacheeb

Your comment implies that you may be more impressed with the flute if it wasn't treated as an instrument....perhaps you could use it as a dildo for yourself?

  • (...) if u smoke or u don't, u make noise the fire u have inside your heart when the night come and sky become dark only mentioning ur name scare us, who lives with u, seems u nothing, become crazy truly, the only truth for everyone should be to escape but then, where we have to go before morning comes, the fire and the lava lead us in the middle of street

  • The first time I heard this song on the Sopranos I was hooked. What a great song. Does anyone who speaks Italian knows what the song is about! Please tell me.

  • It's an italian dialect from Naples, and it's basically a song talking about the volcano Vesuvio, how the villagers fear the the vulcano and how their lives are in its hands.

  • if u like this style of music, check out Nino D'Angelo - Senza Giacca e Cravata. Enjoy!

  • i've done a traslation for u. i'm sure it will be grammatically uncorrect but i've done my best! :D hi from italy ;)

  • Hi!

Technically this is not Italian, it's neapolitan, our mother language.

In Naples we speak neapolitan, which is a mixture of mainly spanish, some french and, of course, italian. But, anyone who hears us speaking, will think it's Spanish.

Italian is, for us, the language of the invaders (1960, the bandit Garibaldi took on the Regno delle Due Sicilie, owned by Spanish Crown) :)

  • hi

do you know any youtube videos where they speak neapolitan? i want to learn the language. in follwing some italian but im interseted in the neapolitan dialect.

by the way do i also hear some north- african in youre dialect??

    molte grazie

  • true, there are things (basically vocal sounds and "italianized" words) which have north african origins, as south italy was often invaded by north africans pirates, not to mention the constant sea trade between south europeans, north africans and arabians that has occurred over the mediterranean (having south italy in the middle of the route) for many centuries....

  • @yordanosi

In our dialect you can hear something like music, sound or soul of the North-Africa. If you want to learn the neapolitan dialect, first of all you must know that the italian language is another thing. Neapolitan is a language that you can learn only if you stay in Naples with some neapolitan people, through the street, along the sea, across the "vicoli".

You have to live Neaples before and maybe you can understand the neapolitan dialect with his soul, sound and parfume. Bye . Michele

  • @docdisco81 exactly in 1860

  • @Rossella76 Ops... pardon! Scrivendo velocemente l'abitudine alle date del XX secolo mi ha fregato! Grazie per avermelo fatto notare! :)

  • @docdisco81 ;-)

  • @docdisco81 But the aragonese/spanish were also invaders, just before the north italians?

  • @lluismf yes, they were. But they actually did many good things for the people. They made many improvements to the social system, the agricultural system, city sanitation and so on... Northern invaders just destroyed what the spaniards did...

  • @lp32862

    the translation is under :-)

  • @lp32862 it's not in italian, it's in neapolitan language, it speaks about the destiny of the neapolitan people always linked to the vesuvio vulcan history...

  • @lp32862 watch the video "vesuvio by spaccanapoli" in the video description you'll find the english translated lyrics

  • @lp32862 it is not italian. it is napoletano, napoli's native language.mine.

it is about the relationship citizens of naples have with the vesuvio.

we both have fear and love it.

for example me: i'm very afraid for imminent eruption but at same time when i am not in neaples and don't see the vesuvio i don't feel warm, at home!

  • @lp32862 Nobody who speaks italian could even understand a single word... ;) It's neapolitan, our motherlanguage. Maybe lots of us already told you this, but, we're so proud of it! :)

  • @lp32862 It's not Italian the song is in Napoletano.

  • @lp32862 When people from Napoli came to Milan it made no difference even if they spoke in chinese nobody could understand them and vice versa, there are sooo many different native languages of Italy that unless you speak Florence Italian which is the one they teach in school no one region could understand the other.

  • @Joeasia1981 tell me about it man! Its crazy how you can't understand the older people in Italy even if you have a ph.d in italian

  • @lp32862 It's about the Vesuvius and its eruptions...

  • @lp32862 It's about the Vesuvius and its eruptions..

  • @lp32862 It's about the Vesuvius and its eruptions..

  • @lp32862 I´m italian...Do you still need help? :)

  • @lp32862 this song is not in italian, is in Napolitan... and is about the Vesuvio you know? Naples is built on a vulcano... could sound wierd but is like this... and the song says more or less that napolitans belongs to that vulcano... if you still wanna know something more, i can ask to my mother to translate it.

  • @lp32862 it's in a Napolitano dialect. i am italian and i cant understand all of it

  • @Motherfuckeronerrrrr It's napolitano dialect!I'm from Naples and i understand all!!!

  • @Motherfuckeronerrrrr LINGUA NAPOLETANA NN DIALETTO...RICONOSCIUTA DALL UNESCO! ;)

  • @lp32862 It's about "Vesuvio", one of the most famous and dangerous italian volcanoes. It's in Campania, In Naples and his most famous eruption destroyed the Roman city of Pompei. the song is not written in italian, but in Neaples' language. sorry for the english.

  • @danasauro The English is almost perfect.

  • @lp32862 is about the Vesuvio the vulcano of Naples

  • @lp32862 It's actually sung in Neapolitan; it's an ode to Mt. Vesuvius, basically a plea to the volcano, who holds the lives of the Neapolitans in its hands.

  • @lp32862 The song is in Neapolitan dialect. It speaks of the danger of Mount Vesuvius and the relationship with the Neapolitans who live at the foot of the volcano.

  • @lp32862:

They are paying homage to Mt. Vesuvius (Vesuvio,) a still active volcano which beautifully graces the eastern backdrop of Naples (Napoli.) The song is about how the mighty mountain holds the citizens of Naples in its hands-making them tremble with fear. (Mt. Vesuvius is responsible for the destruction of Pompeii and Herculaneum in AD 79.) I speak Italian, but the Napolitano dialect is different from the dialect I was taught. Hope this helps.

  • @lp32862 Its napoletano, its not italian, its like spanish compared to portuguese

  • Mother fucking AWESOME!!!

  • "quann fa nott e o ciel si fa scur..."

    brividi...

questa è la vera musica napoletana...grazie per il video

  • @vinonof
