  • anyone can get ko'd by spinning hook kick.thats one of the techniques that most surely to score ko once land.even half power is enough.

  • the song make it sound like he died that day..lol

  • spinning hook kick can do anything..even to knock out korea's best

  • Lucky shot. Son Tae Jin doesn't get knocked out easily.

  • there s no doubt that rite nw he is world no 1 in feather weight .. hail to SON TAE ZIN

  • did he die???

  • @alan495033 no he did not die . just passed out for a lil while

  • Wait, I can't read Korean.

Did he die or sumtin' (...or is that music a joke?)

  • as I make the kick turn out like me?

  • wonderful kick

  • Great !!! =D'

  • ...its like a slap on the face for son tae jin

  • His hands were down. He got what he deserved.

  • @DSMANDARIN most sparrers put thier hands down because they work faster like that. and because it keeps u more relaxed and uses less engergy. even if his hands where up he would still get ko. he shuld have slide or step back or duck.

  • @DSMANDARIN you obviously dont know tkd

  • @1hwarang1 I agree!

  • What song "theme" is that ? tell me please :D

  • @JuanManuelPironi Song of a secret garden

  • Great fighters lose too. Son Tae Jin is still around, he recently won the Gold Medal at Sportaccord Combat Games. Awesome kick btw

  • Does anybody know about the sort of Son Tae Jin? I have seen it on TV, but can't find i anywhere. You see him train, and talk about the winning of the olympic title. And you him throw som awesome kicks at a sandbag, with very high speed.

    Anybody know this?

  • haha.. interesting match!! but Son Tae-Jin is still very much a awesome fighter! respect!*

  • i know it's late, but to those saying that he should've put his hands up, if you watch the slow motion replay, he did have his hands up in the block that most korean competitors use when they're about to be hit;

his right arm was angled downwards and the other arm came across to the right side to try and cover his chin and face, but the kick went right around his guard

  • There are only few videos of SonTaeJin on youtube.

Where can I find more? Pls help.

  • i like here skip! and footwork

  • Son Tae-Jin Hwaiting!!! I look up to you so much!! My idol of Tae Kwon Do.

  • ouch!

  • what are teh subtitles saying? and whats with the music. its not like hes dead. or is he?

  • Asi se hacen los campeones Olimpicos.... Con Valor y Coraje...

  • is this the trials for the 2012 olympics?

  • No matter how strong the guy is theres no muscle to protect his rips thats why they have the chest protecter. YOu just get a guy angry when you punch his chest but to the rips he is going down. P.s stop making fun of tko cause you just look stupid.

  • 0:35 rrroooooaaaaah

  • man, around 0:45, u see his left foot kinda shaking? his nervous system was shaken quite badly. u can never truly know how to win, if u don't know how to lose. hes a champion.

  • Damn! That kick was so devastating, that Son Tae-jin's foot was shaking between 0:43-0:45,

For me, it's really embarrassing to get KO'ed when you are an Olympic gold medalist, but it's not his fault, besides, it's harder to be in the national team of Korea, than to win a gold medal in the Olympics for Korean jins.

  • does anyone get the feel like its his funeral with the music and picture at the end?

  • ...and besides what about the words in korean at the end of the vid???quite strange...

  • he caught that heel flush! damnnnn! that whipped around quick.

  • its probably harder to for koreans to place top in their national than the olympics lol

i did not c that hook kick come through..

  • it is harder to even place in korean nationals... olympics only means sponsoring and money

  • wrong.... the olympics is on another level bro. especialy in terms of competition. The korean nationals is obviously insanely high level, but other countries fighters are getting better these days. Iran, Afgh, Turkey, Greece, Chinese Taipei all have fighters beating the koreans. Olympics is where every country sends their best athletes. its not at all money based

  • such kick cannot be prevented by hands-upping. clinching would be the only preventing (or keeping distance)

  • @KYUNGILNAM

Not true. A good hands up boxing stance would have absorbed the majority of the force. He still would have gotten kicked, but not KTFOd.

That's what happens with point sparring.

  • to trevinrs: it seems to me that you do not know the difference bewtween punch by hands and turing kick. hands up stance cannot absorb the power of turiing kick.

  • @KYUNGILNAM

try taking a Muay Thai kick to the head with and without your hands up and see how it feels.

It's simple physics. Once the kick lands on the hand, it travels through foam, skin, muscle, and bone before it reaches the head, with the force dissipating the entire time. If it lands flush on the head, there is no shock absorption.

    Physics >> TKD

  • to trevinrs: i try to understand what you want to talk about. however, i do not think such a hands upping absorbs th e power of twd kicking, especially turn out kicking.

also people cannot do hands up because they cannot expect the direction of the kick.

  • Please allow me to settle this gentlemen...

Obviously, having your hands up while getting kicked will save you from some brain damage. That's natural. There is nothing wrong with blocking in TKD. I do it and I compete nationally. That goes for punching as well.

I will also say absorbing a tornado kick to the head with the hands up is not wise as well. The force will still travel to the head and give you some serious confusion. My advice...move. But TKD uses thin gloves.

  • to GTcO, hands-upping itself is not bad at all. however, in taekwondo, nobody can predict the direction of kicking. it is so fast and unpredictable. if one hands-up, the other can kick one's belly. so hands-upping is not effectictive at all. the best way is to keep distance or clinching.

  • Try not bullshiting yourself, my radius and ulna bones were snapped from such a kick, and besided TKD kicks are known for power.

  • Hi, I have to say something. Moving is a great defense "on" TKD because keep your hands "up" make you move slowly and it cannot protect your body and your head as the same time. Furthermore, a kick is more quick than a brain response so you don't have the time to protect completly your head and do it efficiently.

  • @trevinrs

having your hands up wont save you from kicks

    movement is superior

no one has ever won a major national or international tournament in taekwondo in the past 30 years with a high guard, despite Taekwondo being the most competitive martial art on the planet. The low guard developed from the fighting, not from theory. High guard simply does not hold up in a kicking based competition.

If you disagree, go enter nationals in your country with your high guard, and post the vid.

  • agreed. People that dont do tkd or ever taken a kick think putting your arm up will save you from a fucking kick to the face. Chances are the force will just go right through your guard.

  • mm it's preference.. blocking sometimes makes you loose balance, it's why some people prefer to dodge it cause it's easier for counter sometimes... just stfu and enjoy the knock out ^^

  • You have to move all the time and keep a good distance. At tournament, fighter, keep their hands down to move quickly but sometime they don't move too protect them. So hands down + no moves = A perfect target ! I'm sorry for this olympic champion but son tae jin made a huge mistake.

  • what's the difference between a KO and a concussion?

If you have a concussion aren't your reflexes exponentially slowed down?

  • To be a good fighter is not about only winning a game but how to win ourself...hink about it.

  • Could please tell me where to find the gloves that the Taekwondo fighters are wearing?

    Thanks

  • Martel arts shops should have them

  • he got f--- up. lol

  • Awesome Video!!!

  • Come on guys Son Tae Jin is still so young. Its true he got careless for a second but making mistakes is also part of the human condition even for an olympic champion.

But i think that KO is important for him so he´ll be more careful in the future and im sure that Son Tae Jin will be back soon.

By the way nice kick from Park Hyoung Jin

  • son tae jin got ktfo i didnt think that was possible hes to good...

  • 0:38 . drop dead.

  • Dang, look at his leg shaking at 0:44

  • ppl just know this as red and blue. this video is so important cause son tae jinj is an olympic gold medalist

  • superb technique from both fighters even know red lost he did well but blue was just 1 step ahead the whole time well what I saw.

  • u can never be a great winner if u dont know what its like to lose

  • @bqureshi390 fucking poet

  • Hi; Phillip this are just awesome videos congratulation!,are you korean?i would like to watch some videos of the gold medalist athens 2004 Moon Daesung you know like when he started,i've studied him and learned so much from only one video so i guess i can learn more if i watch more videos here's my E-mail in case you can tell me where i can find that info

  • 0:44 OOOOOOOOOO les Le pied gauche;

  • Definition of ouch =|

  • No murió no!

  • aahhh como son animales, como va a morir, admito k fue un buen golpe pero en el tae kwon do tambien se cuida mucho la integridad de cada competidor y no murio solamente se desmayo y ya...

  • even a gold medalist can have a bad day, but it looks like he give in so inosent!! wow.

  • tha best KO ever!

  • por favor digan me si este pibe murió ?,

  • Jesus Christ! What a kick!

  • ooh!! :0!

  • los campeones tambien reciben... por eso hay que entrenar mas.

  • LOLOLOLOLOLOLOLOLOLOLOLOLOLOL

  • come on guys!!haha nothing happened to him!!no injuries ,nothin!!!my friends before one week were in korea they played against him hes still playing with Samsung team . :)

  • Wow....Olympic Gold medalist..can also lose like that...

hmm...it is true that no body is perfect..

Unpredictable..spinning kick..as seldom ppl do that on the first shot...Son was a bit confused i think..

  • :O

    fucking nice kick

  • Gah the Panda-Dollyo-Chagi is a dangerious kick... being ko:ed would suck ass i guess, luckliy i haven't been ko:ed yet *-*

  • Nadie es invencible... en Mexico perdio tambien el medallista Guillermo Perez en la evaluacion para el campeonato mundial.

  • He didnt DIE.He is still alive.LOL

    calm down

  • Comment removed

  • lol for a while i thought he died lol with that sad music at the end ;) wasnt the guy in the red in the olympics

  • Yes he was

  • was he ok

  • Yes.

  • wow hasta los mejores pierden

  • Son taejin im still ur fannn

  • WOW that was the shit!

  • DAMNN

son tae jin is still the man

  • I love how the music at the end for people who couldn't read the subtitles seems like he died or something lol.

  • yeahhh ...

im still a Son taejin Fann ^.^

  • wow pero si son tae jin es medalla de oro en beijing, supongo q a todos les tiene q pasar

  • Comment removed

  • no. they're retarded. if you believe it, so are you.

  • he is a champ!!!the best player ever!!but u know thats a lesson!!!that every big champ could fall down!!!but its alright!!!he will catch up next year i hope!!!

  • Taekwondo is a sport and the reason WHY they dont put their hands up is, it is so must faster to block a leg (kick) that is coming from the bottom... if that makes any sense.. its not like blocking punches where it comes straight at you or from the top (overhand right or left)

  • Hey dumbasses, this is not just about how good, or dumb fight is it. an olympic champion being knocked out on front of everyone, it was bigger the psycological shock than physical.

but he addmitted that he lost, and he said,

"it was a good fight, i losed. and i feel that i fallen at the very bottom. but now, all that is left is to climb up"

that's some worthy phrase of a champion

  • nice grammar

  • Hehe... sry... was my english really bad???

  • @itsenzothebaker ...Cynical to say the least...

  • @Zilogrok yeah even steven lopez got KO'd..

  • @tiban7007 Steven Lopez is a punk bitch. And aaron cook's KO of him was accidental. He's still a douche.

  • Comment removed

  • People that think this knockout is a result of keeping your hands down have never been on the receiving end of a Spin Hook kick of that caliber. Watch any K-1 Fight, the best knock out's come from kicks to the head, and they all have their hands up. The fact of the matter is TKD players are the fastest kickers on the planet and you just never know where a kick is going to land so keeping your hands up will just delay the inevitable. Ignorant comments like these are truly from the uninitiated.

  • shut up ppl u lot dont know shit about taekwondo :)

  • mm...also i forgot... being k.o'd doesnt mean that u are not a good fighter... i've been tko'd in me third professional MT fight and then i came back so my point here is that u shouldnt criticize tae jin ...because he is the olympic champion! and u cant achieve that if u are not good!...end of story

  • holy shiiit!!....all right i must say! ....that i wasnt expecting this... =S....but well... i should also say... that maybeb they should fight more often with their hands up...fast kick though..

  • Son Tae Jin is the LAST person I would've expected to show up on youtube getting knocked out, and right after the Olympics. oh well. He's still a great fighter.

  • In my opinion, no one can say the rival is a noname anymore... Park Hyoung Jin KOed Son and now joins the group of "good fighters".

  • My coach always says..the guy that gets knocked out and comes back will be a champion... once your knocked out your not scared to go forward anymore. Cool shit tho. Steven lopez got knocked out

  • u guys should just stop criticising n all..he's a good fighter but sometimes shit happens..so what if he got KO altho he was an olympic champion..its korea, wad do u expect..there's always someone better or someone that can outsmart u ..dats why korea always have different ppl going in for olympics u dumb ass..if u dun have any respect for Son Tae Jin or any other Tae Kwon Do fighters then stop watching Tae Kwon Do videos...

  • Michael Jordan, Muhammad Ali, Michael Johnson and many other greats have also lost battles. That doesn't mean they were not the best at what they did. Even till this day, they are the best at what they do. Son Tae Jin is still the best at what he does so do not feel so bad. He will recover and still be the best. God Bless.

  • If he just would have kept his hands up all of this could have been avoided. TKD stylists never keep their dukes up. Ever. It's the first thing we get taught in kojyu ru karate.

  • u want to say in ur karate fighters don't get hit in the head because their hands are stick to their head? u r master to say what is wrong with otherstyle? son tae jin olympic champion and u must pray u don't meet such a talanted fighter in ur ring

  • Tae Kwon Do is notorious for not teaching enough defense or grounded movements.

  • what are you talking about? not teaching enough defense? Most tkd schools teach hapkido and other self defense..what your seeing is sport..tae jin just got caught off

  • dude seriously, this is not the video for you to post FUCKING stupid comments like that. Go to my other video that has the most views that has all the other idiots commenting about putting their hands up. This video is for people who know son tae jin is. Seriously. Shut the fuck up.

  • Phil Ive been reading all of ur posts on here talkin 2 these nubs who dont know shit abwt TKD. Man ur 1 funny guy......keep it up man ha ha ha lol

  • There really isnt a need to keep your hands up in tkd...you can move your head a foot back at the least by just leaning back...thats why theres slide black roundhouse pattachagi... most just dont understand.

  • Ha ha ha...So no one in Kojyu ru karate has ever been knocked out. Ha ha ha...OK, if you say so.

  • Steven Lopez got KO'd in the Pan Am Qualifer prior to 2000 Olympics then went to be the most successful TKD in history. Don't know what Son Tae Jin was thinking just standing there.

  • exactly. he did awesome in the olympics and then some noname knocked him out. that doesnt mean anything, hes still a great fighter.

  • i called him that night and he was very dissapointed he was thinking about quiting his career and i hope he is going to change his mind...

  • if he cant come back up from a big loss like all the other greats, he doesnt deserve to be great.

  • lols... No big deal.. Son Tae Jin lost alot of times and got KO'ed numberless times when he started but i guess hes really disappointed with this match.. Just like people say you can never say whoes the best noone is the best.. Anyways hopefully Tae Jin gets hes hope and glory back..

  • fukkkkk!!!!!!!!!!

  • Comment removed

  • man when he comes back

its gonna be one awsome reamatch

    you watch

nothings gonna be able to stop him if he can come back from this

    Son Tae Jin forever mofos

  • Getting ko'd is a really tough way to go out especially with a reputation and all that pressure on you from being an Olympian. Looking forward to a rematch.

  • can someone please translate !!!

  • the olyimpic champ....his still a champ!

  • Look at his foot from 0:43 to 0:46

  • omg i cant beleive it

  • Man you made it like he died or something with that music.

  • i know right! All he did was lose a match, that stuff happens regardless if your a Olympic champion or not

  • lol whats with the sad music

  • Nice

  • Damn.. My hero. :c

  • NOOOOOOOOOOO

I LOVE Son Tae Jin hes my idol

why is there like a photo and sad music after the vid ? this isent it for him is it ?

  • =O lol, It seems like the video is in memory of Son Tae Jin. Like he got murdered. The date and even a photo at the end.

  • damn that was a nice back hook kick O_O

  • O.o

  • damn his leg was shaking too after he fell...what tournament was this? and what was all that korean writing saying?

  • i made annotations for that wth

  • Were the annotations really what it said? Is he done?

  • haha i guess i suck at translating. yea it sounds like he gave up all hope if you directly translate to english, but what the korean subtitles said was that he's gone through some real tough times and things can only get better.

  • aw son tae jin got ko'd :(

that was a really fast hook though

  • ive practised them loads and loads and mine are deadly fast too...not in a bragging way. I was told by someone to concentrate on axe kicks and reverse kicks as Im tall. Once you can bang them out fast one after the other it tends to make the opponent think. Keeps people on their toes :)
