it's a Ulua ? we see these in Florida. it's WAY smaller maybe 2 feet long. it looks the same but we call it a Jack. either way this was an AWESOME catch. Congrats.

@KanakaRootsOfficial A 100 pound fish is big enough to pull someone overboard. by kicking on the line a fish that size can generate up to 300 pounds of force, in short bursts. A drag system can counter this by releasing line, but if the line binds in the reel-guess whos going for a swim or losing a pole. it still looks like it would be fun though.

Nice work from a new zealander landbased fisho. Had a similar experience with a 78lb Kingfish. Do you fish livies for them? N.Z. Trevs only get to about 25lb, which would be considered huge.
