Arrived in Naxos May 10 1979 after taking the Magic Bus from Kings Cross Station London (£15 one way), then ferry called Naxos, leaving Paraeus 8am, arriving Naxos about 4pm. Slept on beach near Flis Vos until I found a room near the Castro for 50p a night with a lovely family. Before the airport was built I loved to walk alone round the coast and interior and enjoy the solitude and peace. Have been back 11 times since, and also visited many other islands. Recommended.
