  • I grew up with the original DKC series on SNES, and I have to say, this new music is equally great in its own right. It doesn't have the same nostalgic connection the original music does, obviously, and in a way nostalgia tends to make things a bit better than they actually are. So basically, I approve 100%. Thank God for Retro studios for doing what Rare Ltd. (which used to be an amazing company) hasn't done in years.

  • It's quiet for a minute -.-

  • @buizel009 Can't sneak anything past you.

  • @GutzyBones nope ;)

  • 4 people are absolute retards

  • Brilliant Game. Brilliant Tune

  • this is the best music but I can't find the song sheets?

  • love it

  • I would say it's the best DK game ever, but THAT FUCKING ROLL.

If only it could be mapped to another button or there was controller support.

Shaking the remote isn't really that responsive.

Especially in a HARD AS FUCK game as this where PRECISION is KEY.

  • Nice

  • you like this music?

hear tekken 6 high rollers club

AND YOU WILL GET DONKEY KONG FEELING

but the most even sonic the hedgehog

  • The best DKCR musci ever!:D

  • The game is seriously underwhelming, but holy shit, dare I say this could be the most sublime song in the entire series.

  • @Durandal1717 Underwhelming? Maybe if you only played an hour you'd say that. 100% it and it's the best DK game ever.

  • @danny1819971 dannyfanny

  • Love it ♥

  • I Dont Know But My Mind Says Its The Best Soundtrack In The Game!

    Are You Agreed Too?

  • @supermario886438 Like M. Bison would say: "Yes Yes!"

  • this is the theme for sunset shore, actualy

  • This is actually a music for lazy guys, so for me!

  • The piano, sax, and flute parts are favorite parts of the song.

  • Thumbs up if you notices 25m, Mr. Game and Watch, and Crocmire's head in the background of the foggy fumes level.

  • I laughed when I noticed Mr. Game and Watch at the first Factory-map. :D

  • DK Jazz, baby. Oh yeah.

  • I love these noir stages, really classy look.

  • Both games are one of the bests, DKC and DKCR, both in their own way.

But i still like it how they brought back that nostalgic feeling with this game.

  • Ya know, I had no idea that the Youtube community could be so mature O.O;;; I was convinced they were all 5 year olds who thought their obvious and corny joks were the best thing ever. But I digress, great opinions, great game, thanks for the upload!

  • i can play the drum set part for this

  • its good just not the as good as the original

  • @drumfreakx If you aren't a nostalgia fag you would see this game is better than the originals.

  • @harmfulifconsumed

    that's a matter of taste.

the controls were a lot better in the original games. having to shake the wii-remote to role is sloppy and difficult to time due to its unresponsive nature. it wouldn't be that bad if you wouldn't have to use it, but roling+jumping is the fastest way to move and inevidable if you are to beat all the gold medal times.

also, there are some issues with the 2 player mode. some levels are simply not designed for two and are boring for donkeykongplayers

  • @tooawefullydifferent Disagreed entirely, controls work flawlessly. Then again I'm not biased against motion controls.

But I won't argue with you if you have your mind set.

  • @harmfulifconsumed I personally think this one is better. this coming from a guy who grew up with snes games. and about the motion control, you barely have to shake the wii remote to roll it's not as bad as tooawefullydifferent is making it out to be. but i digress.

I really hope they come out with a sequel starring diddy and dixie OMG *nostalgasm*

  • @harmfulifconsumed

well, i don't say dkcr is a bad game - it's awesome. and i'm also by no means biased against motion controls - in games like zelda it worked fine. what bugged me was just the fact that they didn't implement an alternitive with the classic controller although a lot of players had trouble with the shakingresponsiveness.

but as you've said, your mind is set and so is mine. but you shouldn't insult drumfreakx just because he likes another game better than this one.

  • @harmfulifconsumed

    @harmfulifconsumed

No offense man, but to me it seems more like YOU are the one who is biased against the originals.

You just have to accept that every person prefers another game. You can't say "this game is better than the other", because it is nothing but a matter of taste.

To me, this game is good, but nowhere near as groundbreaking as the originals were at their time.

    Peace.

  • @hydrosbon Hear hear! He needs to get that through his head.

    *thumbs up your comment*

  • @hydrosbon Just because a game is more groundbreaking doesn't mean it's automatically better

SM64 was more groundbreaking than SMG, but which do you think is better?

As much as I will forever love SM64, SMG is just absolutely amazing...

  • @DaNumba1Rapper

i never said that a game that is groundbreaking is automatically good. but when it comes to donkey kong country, i enjoyed the originals more AND they were groundbreaking at their time.

just as i've written above: it is a matter of taste. YOU think sm64 isn't as good as SMG, but there surely are people who will disagree. and no, i'm not one of them.

  • @harmfulifconsumed I noticed that all you do is use ad hominem in response to anyone who comments here, particularly with DrumFreakx and TAD. Why don't you want to argue/debate the matter? Is it cause you have nothing to discredit or counter what they've said other than "you're a nostalgiafag" and "you're biased against motion controls"?

Oh and for the "nostalgiafag" comment: this is youtube, not 4chan. Dropping "chan-lingo" gets you no cool points here.

  • @harmfulifconsumed Just biased in favor of them?

  • @harmfulifconsumed I'm not biased in the least, I work with any control set that works. But the motion control in combination with the quick reflexes needed for Donkey Kong games screw each other over. If I want to roll and jump quickly, it's hard to get used to. And the two-player mode in DK Returns isn't the best playstyle to choose for. It's useful at some points, but player 1 is in control too badly and playing at the same time often means that you screw each other over. I prefer the old DKC

  • @harmfulifconsumed This is the kind of situation where choice plays a huge roll: I didin't appreciate the motion-control sqeuences in Mario Galaxy 2 at all, but if there was a choice between motion and button in-put I wouldn't have cared. And as much as you can say it's a matter of taste/nostalgia/bias, though, button inputs are faster than twitching the remote, use less eneergy and, unless there's a real need for motion sensing (which there almost never is), why not just press a button?

  • @harmfulifconsumed I'm not trying to start an arguement, but i think the controlls work fine, but at times, they're a little unresponsive, for example, when I jump on an enemy, sometimes, I want to bounce off of them, but when I press A to bounce off an enemy it's a little delayed. Also, the hit detection is a little awkward, but it doesn't cause any major problems. I completely disagree with tooawefullydifferent about the 2 olayer co-op because it works great, better than New Super Mario Bros

  • @tooawefullydifferent It's all what you're habitued to.

I tried the original DKC on an emulator, and I found it very hard to controll :/

  • @olivierfromricochet

you're right. it's really all about what one is used to or what one grew up with. :)

  • @tooawefullydifferent I totally I agree with you. This game was incredibly fun and challenging, but didn't really give me the same rush as DKC 1, 2, and 3. I didn't really get that "exciting adventure" feel with DKC Returns. Although, it is still a great game and I'm glad that it was made. I was really starting to miss DKC.

  • @MylestheMediaMaster

I honestly can't see how this game didn't give you the exciting adventure rush considering all the stuff that can happen in levels.

Especially the minecart levels. I don't recall anything like alot of stuff in DKCR happening in the original 3.

  • @metaXzero Yeah your right, I guess the minecart levels were an exception. But sometimes they made me mad rather then excited lol.

  • @harmfulifconsumed there is no way in hell.

  • @harmfulifconsumed I agree. This soundtrack is fucking awesome in its own right.

  • @harmfulifconsumed there's nothing like nostalgia

  • This is why it's good to be a bassist.

  • This song is Mike Wise Bliss

  • i love it

    nice and jazzy

  • when you get to the 7th world(factory) there will be level like this(glowing tie on donkey kong) where you will see Mr.Game & Watch on his "judge" postion

  • @lonestaremex361 Sorry but I don't allow idiots like you to live.

  • @harmfulifconsumed Need a hand?

  • @harmfulifconsumed I'm arresting you on suspicion of murder.

I hope you're happy with your decision, Mr. Consumed.

  • @RDX12606 Nah I didn't kill him unfortunately. lol

  • @lonestaremex361 well, vshows you were born past 1994, or you dont have an apreciation of donkey kong

  • Anyone else get a Streets of Rage vibe for this song?

  • Ahh, this is the one I was looking for. The Classic Music but into Jazz.

  • @METAPHOR1232 Have you seen the background in that level?, it's great!!, there is the first level of the original Donkey Kong, and Mr. Game & Watch working XD

  • @Serpoo And Crocomire's skull.

  • i haven't played the game yet but this track soooooo freakin smooth its driving me bananas!!! lol i wonder whatever happened to David Wise???

  • @METAPHOR1232 Yep, first level in world 7 with all that damn smoke.

  • David Wise would be proud

  • @Kouma013 Or not. David Wise was with Rare, who were allowed to be sold to Microsoft after being a Nintendo 3rd party company. So if anything, Wise might be a little content, but might also be a little sad[?] (I don't know if sad is the right word, maybe regretful is) because now Retro Studios is reviving something that Rare could've on it's own and they feel regretful...[?]

    I don't know. Don't listen to me.

  • @Valo778 i see your point there :)

I hope he someday comes back to video game composing again

  • hmm, is this an analog music rip or did you actually rip the raw audio from the game?

  • @demon2warrior I did not rip anything so I don't know.

  • Me and my brother's favorite stage. Dude, this game is jam-packed with awesomeness!

  • Yeah this is a good song, and sorry for the 1 minute of silence at the end.

  • @harmfulifconsumed Oh that doesnt bother me a bit, I've just downloaded it and plan on editing the track in Sony Vegas to loop it and make it longer.

  • Nostaligia factor hit me to the max with this track, been a fan of the original track and a fan of jazz so I seriously dug this remake. Just beat the game and I'm listening to it rite now off the Wii. I see myself cleaning up, editing amvs, studying, and just relaxing with this playing in the background.
