  • These brothas are BAD!!! Check out that smooth choregraphy.

  • As well a Grand L Bush, who also appeared in Stir Crazy (as Slowpoke) and as the drummer in Otis Day and the Knights band in Animal House and one of the gang members, opposite Don Cheadle in Colors.

  • Dan Hartman did record this song but In the movie Streets of Fire, the single "I Can Dream About You" was actually sung by Winston Ford, whose vocals were convincingly lip-synched by a group led by African-American actor Stoney Jackson, and included among its members future actor/director Robert Townsend.

  • Some great dance moves

  • I love this song and the movie it came from. The movie itself had this whole alternate future/parallel universe feel to it. Look at the video. It's 1950's doo-wop and 1980's glitz all rolled together.

  • @ 1972shat - Mykelti Williamson is also one of the Sorels.

  • sirscoots, just tell me the name of the players!!!

  • Omg!that's stoney jackson as lead singer and robert townsend is one of the background singers!

  • Wow! They don't make soundtracks this good like the movies in the 80's anymore! In the 80's is all about movie soundtracks! This is one of my favorite.

  • got to find this whole movie online and watch it !!!!

  • foi um tempo bom

  • Now, that's how you say goodbye to a chick.

  • Vocals were done by Winston Ford (Free Life, Phat Daddy)

    We'll miss you Brotha' Winston.

  • my replay botton is wearing out i love this song

  • thumbs up for one of the back up dancers being bubba from forrest gump.

  • @fujirio The other one was in the original 'Lethal Weapon" and 'Colors"

  • Stoney Jackson..I can definately dream about him:)

  • Brings back memories...love this song and the movie!

  • Super Cool !! :

  • 大好きだ!

  • @kazukyrry おれも、大好き! Long life、Rock ’N' Roll !!

  • Sorry, that's actually Stonewall Jackson. My whole life, for some reason I thought it was Dan Hartman playing a black man in honor.

  • Is that actually Dan Hartman in make-up, made to make him look like a black man?

  • Wait! Wasn't Cody wearing a waist length jacket when talking to Fish? then he was wearing his trenchcoat when he speaks to Ellen!

  • 2:49 - 3:47 .. like that scene .. diane lane was a cutie back then

  • @steelermia She still is.

  • @sweetuth99 yep I'm another 'white pussy coward' .. that's why your ancestors were the slaves you dumb nigger .. how does it feel having such a low iq ? .. and by the way I've already 'talked shit' to a nigger in person .. they do NOTHING .. because niggers such as yourself are the real pussies when confronted ONE ON ONE ..

  • This song sounds like summer..... ahhh, classic.

  • es mi clasiko de pelicula siempre ke puedo la veo geniallllllllllllllllllllllllllllllllllll

  • me encanta esta peliculaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaa

  • For both sides of this retarded race-war post: This song was done by Dan Harman, who was white - and later in his career - copied Michael Jackson so close you could swear he liked little boys (but he liked older ones).

Shut up and deal with it - it's a good song.

  • Magnificent

  • In a word- Magnifiv

  • oh I just saw that other comment .. you married some pale skinned jew .. incredible lol .. way to shit on 'your people' .. pathetic .. you have no credibility

  • he performed on Soul Train but people were probably in a state of confusion like what happened to the black dudes that sang it?? watch?v=Yp0tIiJn-oI

  • @WonderWomanFan4life : Just found out he's originally from my home town, "HARRISBURG, PA." !!! He wrote all kinds of music, for all kinds of people...R.I.P.

  • @BingoLong33

yeah he was super talented i found some footage of him on SOUL TRAIN... I Loved Soul Train. How could I have missed that episode. Well back in the day when we had bs TV you had to try to get home to watch things not like now we TEVO everythang. take care. I love this song

  • The 50s meet the 80s. Cheesy as heck, but I still like it.

  • Pare emerges in the Lincoln Lawyer.

  • I know Michael Pare is about 51 or 52, but he looks great. One of the most handsome guys of the 80s and Diane Lane is definitely hot.

  • Are the Sorels pictured here related to Dianne Sorel? She was a backup singer for a number of artists like Peter Allen in the '80s.

  • Darryl Hall and JOhn Oates story about Dan Hartman I can dream about you

    watch?v=8c0Wd-Zq9ME

I don't just Blah blah stuff. here is proof see for yourself

  • they hired Blacks because we are gods and we are better. The blacks brought magick to this song. they know NOBODY would listen if they saw his cracker white ass singing it. Niggas all over bought this stupid song even whites who love to see negros perform because they are at times some not all magickal. Fuck dan hartman.. watch?v=JUko5be2lzA

  • @WonderWomanFan4life ONCE AND FOR ALL: "In the movie, the song is performed by "the Sorels," a fictional doo-wop style group consisting of actors Stoney Jackson, Grand L. Bush, Mykelti Williamson, and Robert Townsend. However, the song was actually sung by WINSTON FORD, whose vocals were convincingly lip-synced by Stoney Jackson in the movie. There are thus two versions of the song, but the most popular was sung by Dan Hartman for commercial release.

  • @1HRJR

Dan Hartman WROTE The dam song and he performed it. he tried to sell it to Daryl Hall and JOhn Oates but they had finished their album. Then he ended up releasing it himself. Good info but it wasnt just sung by Dan he WROTE it. he was a song writer. quite good and if you look up on YT you will see that Dan performed it on a few cracker white bread shows and SUcked ass... Everyone was looking at him like why is this cracker singing this song? Turns out whitey wrote it. LOL! good work

  • @WonderWomanFan4life The "whitey", "cracker" stuff must be some sort of self-depricating inside joke. Carry on then. Aside from that, I am aware that Dan Hartman wrote the song, my point is that it's not his voice we hear in the movie but that of WINSTON FORD. Maybe WF would've done a better job performing the song live.

  • @1HRJR

I love this song. Thanks for sharing the Winston Ford stuff. I already knew that. I already knew the people performing were actors mentioned it b4 on one of my posts. Stoney Jackson can sing. These are all popular actors in the Black Community. As far as the Cracker comment its just a slang to say the music sucked without these guys. Dans voice sounds like Winston Ford. But why do you think they didnt let Dan sing it? The Sorrels? who were they really? lip singers? milli vanillis

  • @1HRJR

why do you think they went thru so much trouble on this one song???? ALSO why do you feel so many people FEEL DUPED at this point for just realizing that Dan wrote and WF sang it. These fools on stage were just actors lipsinging?? This was the music video on MTV if I am not mistaken. My mother loved this video. The only one we could actually watch she was such a saint. no secular music in the house except this song. thats why I commented on it so much. I love this song regardless

  • @WonderWomanFan4life There was no duping going on concerning Dan Hartman. If anything, some may have been duped the other way, into thinking that was Dan singing in the movie when it in fact he was not! But the original version of the song, a more soulful rendition and my fave of the two, by WINSTON FORD, and Dan's video were both played on MTV. I have no idea why Dan wasn't chosen to sing the song for the movie...you seem to be driving at something though. What is it?

  • @1HRJR

Stoney Jackson couldn't have been in this movie, he was killed at Khe Sanh in 1968, at least that is what Sergent Major Choozoo said in the movie Heartbreak Ridge.

  • @1905compton bullshit

  • @WonderWomanFan4life fuck dan hartman ? he wrote the song you stupid nigger .. without him the song doesn't EXIST .. blacks = dumbest fucking race on the planet

  • @steelermia

You're a stupid nigger. Who cares? Why do you people keep commenting on it. Dan's dead its old info take some exlax and let that shit go. Please. YT has such racist people. You're just pissed off because BArack Obama is president and you cant' do shit about it right now. Go to hell skank ho. SCREW YOU and the horse you rode in on. My Favorite singer is TINA MARIE!! she was the best but I guess you didnt like her.. Waste your time on this dan hartman bullshit. go to hell

  • @steelermia

I understand you like to hold on to all WHITE Men who sing BLACK. WHO CARES?? YOu left the best singer TEENA MARIE who often sang with RICK JAMES out in the cold. I get it...I do not care what you think. If anyone here is a NIgger it's you. So kiss my black ass and go to hell. You're stupid white trash for even saying that. go to hell! I am amazed at how fired up YOU people get over bullshit. Who cares?? this mf is dead he's moved on. Visually the Sorrels were better! Nuff said

  • @WonderWomanFan4life address what you wrote dipshit .. YOU said 'fuck dan hartman' .. that's a stupid comment .. he wrote the fucking song .. song doesn't exist without him .. which makes you a dumb cunt for saying that .. how about you address THAT

  • @steelermia

did you know that when you call a Black woman a CUNT it means ZERO Nothing. They dont give a shit. only white women view that as something really bad. I never understood it. I mean that's really odd. I am done talking to you. You are an illiterate CUNT who has no soul! When you feel you have nothing to say you just start calling people names like nigger, cunt, those words mean nothing to me. Just like YOU mean nothing to me. You have NO power you probably wear Adult Diapers

  • @steelermia

I knew someone like you who talked so much shit on the internet behind their computer and their husband beat the living shit out of them all the time. Not 2 mention they had so much anal sex until their bowels did not stay where they were supposed to, they were 35 years old wearing ADULT diapers i'm not saying that you weare DEPENDS or have a sore asshole, but something is wrong for you to keep trying to make me think like you. You can lead to horse to well cant make him drink.

  • @steelermia

finally last comment. I know you want to get attention and let your stupid voice be heard. OK we hear you loud and clear but this is the last time i will comment to you WE are done talking. YOu are no fun to talk to.I made a few friends off this one post. A lot of people said they thought Dan Hartman was the Sorrels too. NO bid deal I am not racist I am married to a German/Jew. WTF do you want from me? TEENA MARIE was a Gr8t singer but yall fight over Dan Hartman look it up

  • @steelermia

its a freedom of speech country and i can say what i want.. You are not concerned with calling me a dumb nigger, or cunt, or dipshit. you can call others names but i cant say FUCK DAN hartman. I hope your children marry black/Blue negroids, Dark Indians, Arabs, and anyone who is super dark. Do you know how hard it is to eliminate the black gene from white bloodline? it takes a while of breeding to eliminate. I bet you are more NEGROID then me so watch who you call nigger bitch.

  • @WonderWomanFan4life once again .. you're not addressing the STUPID comment YOU made .. typical of a dumb nigger when he's cornered .. just divert to an irrelevant defense .. 'i have freedom of speech' .. lol blacks are fucking dumb

  • the one dude is Stoney Jackson look him up he was a famous singer, actor,

by the way did you see this??? he explains why they used actors MF?

    watch?v=JUko5be2lzA

  • @PaMedic352 Hey, heat to tell you but none of these stage singers are (a) actually singing anything (on stage or studio), and (b) not a one of them is the real Dan Hartman. Dan was a white cat with a great hit tune voice. The guy in this movie is, well, a guy in a movie. And I think I've seen him do some Michael Jackson impersonation work. Don't worry, though. A whole lot of folks thought that this was the real Dan.

  • @melotone

Yes and it is quite depressing. I just recently found out this heartbreaking info.

  • @melotone Actually, the singer in the movie is WINSTON FORD. Listen closely to the movie version and go back and listen to the video with Dan Hartman performing the song, you should notice a distinct difference in tone between artists.

  • Super super cool tune ♥♥ :)

  • linda musica

  • The singer in this clip IS Dan Hartman. He recorded it for the movie and the stage performers lip synced it for the movie. Regardless, it's still an AWESOME song!!

  • I love this Streets of Fire version better than Dan Hartman's version. Dan Hartman's is quit good, but this? The vocal is just right and powerful, wonder whose version this is.

  • Great movie and songs. First saw it in 1984 in a theater! Imagine that. I fell in love with Diane Lane then and I'm still in love with her. Hollywood is to scared to make anything original or different these days. It costs so much money to make one they're scared it will flop and not make any money for them. Hence we get comic book movies and remakes.

  • I remember (as a kid) this song being played during the 80's/90's and I always thought Dan Hartman was the black lead singer of the Sorels

  • If u seen this movie I dig the chick with the Mohawk

  • one of my favourite movies... and the sorels are walking bakcwards... the moonwalk...

  • This movie sucked ass..

  • Oh damn they did THE Moonwalk!!!

what are you hearing about a sequel?

  • BEST OLDIES AND MUSIC AT ITS BEST

  • Great music,terrible movie!

  • Wow I loved this song! Remember Dan Hartman singing it on soul train. Most of the guys in the group still act. Robert Townsend, became filmmaker, myketi Williamson, bubba shrimp, grand bush, street fighter and Stoney Jackson( last I saw him was everybody hates Chris)

  • Fuck me mate ! Was it really not sung by Dan Hartman ! Well waddya know!!!

  • @Segreantsexy he did sing it

  • so much memerioes every time i hear or watch this film, my top 5 all time favourites.

  • I wish they'd gotten together. :(

  • watched streets of fire last night after seeing this video. brilliant film. and how fit is diane lane in it? :P

  • @LawrenceLugar1

Check the soundtrack and credits...he did. Just actors lip-syncing

  • @njnjr23 I'm glad Dan got his props on this. Too many people, even today in 2010, think this group is real. Good movie, GREAT song.

  • @njnjr23 The audio used in the movie was not sung by Dan Hartman.

  • It's a shame that movies that are this creative and fun are so damn rare.

  • @TheOwnageCentral That's why the 80s will always be the best era for movies and music.

  • @TheOwnageCentral Tell me about it. Most are mediocre these days.

  • 1:17-"Look. Don't worry, Cody. I'm not gonna stand in your way with Ellen. I know how it is between you two". It takes courage and valor to do what Fisher did for Cody. I know. I've done it before.

  • The more things change the more they stay the same. The tastes may change but the tune is always the same.

  • Little Rick Moranis doing a fine acting job as usual. Fellow Canadian, nice guy to sit next to on a plane. The music today is so crappy. There is so much commercial rock where music sounds the same and it's easy to play.

Rap music is all samples of stuff concocted into something people like to hear for some reason, even when it's repeating the same words over and over. You can thank Vanilla Ice for being the original trend setter with sampling music into pop or rap.

  • @Grapes428 If you don't know anything about rap, then SHUT THE HELL UP!!!

  • 1:33 - 1:39, that´s the way a so wanted bad boy should act!

  • This was the jam!

  • Streets of Fire...Dianne lane and Michael pare...Romance and Action at it's Best... One of the Best of the 80's:)

  • Streets of Fire... surely one of the most underated movies of all time...

Take a look at the Blasters performing at Torchies... same move... rock and roll at its best...

  • "Is that it? Is that all you have ta' say?"

"If you ever need me for somethin'... I'll be there."

Used to date a girl that looked a bit like Kelly Lebrack in this footage.

Gratitude, charm3dl1f3- you give the old man something to look back on with fond memories and guilty nostalgia.

  • Fuck nowadays music (in the 2000s) sucks ass. It's so monotonous in comparison.

    Ideas are running dry.

  • as Waldo said, " Yea long live Rock and Roll"

  • Ideas are largely prohibited.

    It's all underhanded.

  • However, the song was actually sung by Winston Ford, whose vocals were convincingly lip-synced by Stoney Jackson in the movie. There are thus two versions of the song, but the most popular was sung by Dan Hartman for commercial release. I HAD TO CORRECT MYSELF.

  • This film rocks.

  • 01:00 MOONWALK IT BABY!! Disco Dave, Toronto

  • wow.the songs is great!

  • They Both sang it great.

  • COOOL, me gusta mas esta version que la de Dan Hartman (auque tambien es buena), ¿donde puedo descargarla?¿alguien la tiene?. vivan los 80s!!!!!!!!

  • He is VERY cool

  • love this song love the movie i have the dvd

  • You can tell the different versions as Hartman's voice is a bit less soulful than W.Ford( singing on this track). Nonetheless, both I like both versions are great.

  • AHH the power of being able to let go..

  • I want this version of the song!!!

  • good song, good film too

  • puro anos 80 !!!!

    tempos q n voltam mais...

    grande som.

  • the song is epic no matter who sings it - Hartman or the "Sorels"

  • Actually it was Hartman & C. Winston Ford who sung this song. The Sorels actually lip sync; C. WInston Ford version in the movie. If you watch/ listen to the clip you can hear that C. WInston Ford has more soul in his version compare to Hartman's version. Both are great but you can tell the differences. That is why BET played this version & MTV played Hartmans version.

  • Tis true! That's my late Uncle Winston's voice... Thanks for setting the record straight. ;-)

  • No problem.

  • this is just a little before my time but this movie looks like theshit and that dan hartman song is awesome

About MacArthur another mistake: with him leading the american troops,
