I don't think there's another skater on the planet who has earned such respect and sheer LOVE from fans, of figure skating and sports in general. Kwan is still the face of US figure skating, and the standard. She's still the skater who excites an audience at shows like no one else (when she went to S. Korea she got a reception like the Beatles). In every discussion/article about today's skating, her name is mentioned in glowing terms. And for once, the hype is justified!!!

I am so happy she acknowledged Frank Carrol and Lori Lori Nichol - they were both so instrumental in her growth as a figure skater. Even though they parted professionally, it's great to hear that they all still respect each other.

No matter how many gold medals future skaters will receive, no matter how many awards and honors that skaters like Yu Na and many others have acquired, Michelle Kwan will alway receive the greatest honor of all, something even a gold medal isn't really worth it. It is like a receiving a highest honor well fitting as a tribute and is well deserving for the most admired and accomplish athlete. It is a crowning achievement to Michelle Kwan's career as an exceptional athlete.
