First man in sandavágur was from Rogaland Norway. There is a Rune-stone there. Sigmund Bresturson from the Faroes used to sail between diffrent locations in Norway and the Faroes, he became a personal freind of the Norwegian king. You can read about it in Færeyar saga.

Read some about Naddoddur too. First man to settle down in Iceland. He lived in the Faroes ,went to a trip over to Norway and when he wanted to return to the Faroes he drifted all the way to Iceland because of strong winds.

Ormurin langi a faroe folk song as you sure know. About the battle of svolder i think it is great and that you(faroe) have preserved youre language better than the Norwegians. I can understand much what you write and speak but it is hard. Old Norwegian is more simmilar to this. This battle showed the heroic stand were 11 norwegian ships against 70 danish,swedish and icelandic ships. They faught wel.

It´s old norse yes.. Has nothing to do with celtic. I've heard galic and old celtic languages and they seem to have nothing in common with Faroese.

You say we have some Dannish words too :) well thats because modern danish is build opun old norse. When vikings were in denmark danes used to speak propper norse language.

I find alot more similarities between nynorsk and faroese than danish and faroese.

But tests have shown that we are mosly related to the norse (norwegian/swedish) not the danes or the celts at all.

For some reason you can see a diffrence in swedish/norwegian and danish DNA, don´t ask me how.

I know that Nynorsk is a minority in NO. But it is closer to the original norse viking language :) Modern Danish is NOT
