  • Wow...epic clap fail.

  • beat*

  • lol i hate when people start clapping and get so offbear =p

  • There is nothing to criticize.

  • I just read the book "pitch Perfect, The quest for collegiate a capella glory" by Mickey Rapkin and had to come online and search for all of the talented groups mentioned in the book. What a treasure I found! Thanks for posting this up and sharing

  • @andreaburnett I read the book too, and don't you think these are really just students who are making these wonderful music, despite the politics and drama?

  • @darik60 I would agree with that asessment! I think the book was just my treasure map that lead me to these hidden treasures! They work hard, and are enormously talented. What beautiful voices!

  • I think Voices of Lee's Unwritten is better. But they're amazing too.

  • any ideas who made the arrangement?

  • Pipes and cans. Who says they don't use instruments?

  • i don't like the original but this i loved! the main singer just seems a little out of breath with all the choreography but still amazing!

  • you could critisize small things , but barely!!! THESE GIRLS ROCK!

  • god i'd would die to get this song's score...

  • amazing

  • Im Mormon to lol., plz check out my channel! lol,

  • it is lovely, but i dont think the main girl is very good at all :(

  • I'm glad you all can sing so well so to criticize these girls. Ridiculous.

  • @rockonbabylon totly right these girls sing very well

  • i don't think they were that much better than the group on the sing-off. i think that group from california golden overtones is better, but that's just me

  • This group is def much better than their successors that appeared on Sing-Off

  • to be honest, i'm torn between both. they each have their own admirable strengths!

and not to mention their fare share of good singers from their pool.

  • I'm not one but for serious Mormon girls are the best they are fun yet wholesome and come on this sounds really nice!

  • hahahaha

  • truth, its kinda' good,

but the lead singer didnt really sing that good. lots of notes she couldnt hit.

  • the lead singer isnt that good but the rest of them are

  • fucking AMAZING!

  • Pretty good. but I feel like there were parts where the lead couldnt hit the right notes..oh well.

  • geez you're like screaming it. you're breaking my ears!

  • COM is for all students and their friends 100% Free

  • They are all so good!! And I actually know the lead singer! I had no idea she was in this group! So good!!

  • choreo is impressive! Sacramento, CA misses you girls, come back soon!

  • best rendition of this song i've heard. congrats--amazing.

  • This is the most impressive, talented, and dynamic female a cappella group I have ever seen, especially at the collegiate level. The level of enthusiasm and passion displayed alone is moving enough, but mixed with true musical talent just makes it a complete package. And the sustained chord near the end with "inhibitions"... I rewound it about 20 times!

  • definitely. not to be sexist, but i just haven't seen many great female a cappella groups--this proves one hellofan exception

  • I love how much energy y'all have!

  • i liked it

  • this is very good(:

  • i wish the lead singer didn't use her mic from 2:14 to 2:52. to me, it would've sounded better

  • I wish the lead singer would do an encore performance for me. lol

  • whoa i wonder what she was thinking when she mixed the first few lines. at least she didn't embaress herself.

  • The girls always do us proud!

  • The guys at BYU are pretty lucky...

  • Skillz to the girl beat boxing and staying in sync while moving that much!

  • 2:30!!!

  • who is the female beatboxer, hehe, i would like to meet a female beatboxer, (other than my sister's lame attempts)

  • Yeah isn't she awesome, pretty proud to call her my sister.

  • Go soloist! I LOVE CAMILLE!

  • Oh, and unfortunately I don't have a video--I would like to get one of them doing that piece and Homeward Bound, but we'll see.

I would like to say, however, their outfits, presence, and overall performance is really good for a female acapella group. I find that too many all-girls groups don't put in the pizazz needed because they are embarassed or just don't buy in. But these ladies do have that :)

  • The lead stole too much--not because she was good but because she wasn't. Her voice was horrid, she pushed too much, and she was flat.

Try the NCSU Ladies in Red doing that song.

  • could u post a descent vid of NCSU Ladies in Red if there so great? cause the 2 vids on youtube there horrible.. i mean at least BYU has atractice singers to pic up where there voices lack... and btw theres a difference between pushing to hard and projecting your voice over a choir... she just has to be so loud on the normal notes that the high notes are nearly impossible..

  • Hah--those videos are from a long while ago, and they SUCKED for a long while. They've improved, and I mentionned them b/c I heard their arrangement this year--tasteful and balanced.

And the projecting over the choir thing, that doesn't count as much b/c she's got a mic, and the accompaniment doesn't necessitate that. She's not straining--she's using her diaphragm and all, she just.. it was too abrasive for the song; I felt her excitement got the best of her and it made some phrases droop.

  • it was an encore performance..she probably didn't have it in her to do the best she could.

  • i think i like the back ground singers better. the lead singer is like iffy:S

  • The lead vocalist does NOT have the range to be singing Natasha Bedingfield.

  • Yeah, that one and a half octave range must be tough to emulate.

  • hahaha

  • Main vocalist isn't doing a whole lot for me on this song, but the other songs are awesome by you guys! I love you guys!

  • great job, but what's with people not being able to clap on the correct beats???

  • main singer...ehhh

  • I really liked it, especailly the main vocal, but the others could've done something better wiht the background, I give them a 8.7/10,just bcuz the backgroudn sounded a bit..bland?

    idk

it was still awesome tho xD

  • its ok i guess. but in my opinion, i just cant stand all girl a capella groups. Not to be sexist, but they cant compare to guys. Men can go as low as a base, and as high as a soprano, and while women can go very high, not even the best of female singers can hit a teners low, let alone a basses. but thats just how i feel

  • actually there are women in the choir i am in who sing tenor and can hit bass notes. not quite bass 2 lows. but definatly bass1 lows.

  • I personally prefer mixed groups. The mens can deliver a good baseline, but for those dramatic points a rising soprano part can give a counterpoint that a tenor just can't.

  • I agree w/ Kona. Men can do so much more...

not that they did bad they were very good. But even listen to the other BYU a cappella choir (the male one) Vocal Point. The God one will make you cry. :D

  • Try listening to Noteworthy's performance of "How Great Thou Art". It'll make you cry too. =)

Both of the BYU a cappella groups are amazingly talented.

  • I'm actually a bass in an all-female a cappella group (Duke's Lady Blue) and I agree that it is more difficult for us to fulfill the range of a guy group, but thats what makes good girl-groups even better...because we do the best with what we have.

  • a bass? wow! I can get the tenor notes and sing as a tenor in my choir, but bass notes must be hard!

  • I'm a female who used to sing tenor in HS choir. I was the only female singing tenor, and the only tenor who didn't need help with pitch or volume or any of that. We women can compare to guys, we have our own set of strengths, just as men do! So they're different,so what!

  • This is very true. We have a girl that sings Tenor with us in our Show Troupe, and she is the ONLY one in our section that wasn't constantly reminded about pitch, and she was never told to get on top of the pitch because she was already there. Its nice to know that there are people that comment on youtube that actually DO have a knowledge of vocal music!

  • Thank you, and you're welcome! Have a blessed day!

  • not good voice

  • Meh, it's okay.

  • It's hard to tell that they're good in this video. Maybe it's the arrangement. hmm. I don't know...

  • I just checked out the other music groups ref. below and find this group to be much better than those listed.

WIth regards to mens groups, BYU Vocal Point, Spider Man is good, and so is Indiana University Straight No Chaser - 12 Days. It has over 4 million hits.

  • BYU Vocal Point is great. Also for men's groups, the UC Berkeley's UC Men's Octet and U of Oregon's On the Rocks are kickass

  • If you like these girls, check out Wellesley College Tupelos :)

  • California Golden Overtones are better. Good though.

  • Um, they've beaten the Overtones in head to head competition more than once. Nice try, though.

(Note: I've seen the Overtones many times and love them. Just setting the record straight.)

  • Guess we'll just have to agree to disagree, then. ;)

  • guess so ;)

  • Sus4 chord at 2:29?

    Pretty good ;)

  • ICCA Finals goers ought to know not to clap and cheer in the middle of a performance!

  • ...it was the encore, so....

  • Tight! Nice work! 5 stars.

  • the chord at 2.29 is quite frankly genius! love this group, i'm very jealous that im not in it... you look like you have so much fun! well done for your success, you deserve it!

  • definately! that chord was like a breathe of fresh air!

  • Exactly!

  • i caught a glimpse of this comment while i was watching and didn't know what to expect at 2.29. but wow, yes, genius. like birds singing in the morning. haha.

  • my gosh! i'm almost crying!

  • great voices...the solo voice is amazing

  • not bein purvey, but the one who was singing perforemed very well, and very sexy

  • this is so awesome!

  • THEY DID THE DAMN THANG!!!

  • this was awesome!

  • wow

    Theyre really good

The arrangement was even good and I was surprised by the soloist

  • the choreography is wonderful!!! The song was SOLD!! You guys deserved to win the championship. Kudos!!
