Nadine is supposed to sing background on Cheryl's second line. It's on the recording if you listen for it.

She sings so much because she has the widest vocal range. Kimberley and Cheryl always sing in the lower register, Nicola's voice is very lite, and Sarah's good for belting and screaming. Nadine can do it all. Her leaving the group would be like Melanie C ditching the Spice Girls: wonderful as the other girls are, you know who the vocal powerhouse is.

You're right, that was an exaggeration. A lot of her parts are really high. Usually, though, it's she and Cheryl who handle the really low parts.
