  • Holy crap, is that Crispin Glover at 3:15?

  • When my family and I were listening to this song, at the chorus I grabbed a ritz box and danced around.. Good times :)

  • @tboy24 Thanks :))) Besides Taco is luckily married since 1980, but if he was gay so what!

@WhiteFalcon534 Well, it was produced in the 80s ;-)

@roosevelthighschool Correct, though is was just the Ritz Hotel in the 1920s.

@FWYGINOND if you mean Fred Astaires version from 1946 (film Blue Skies) you are wrong, because the original was introduced by Harry Richman in the musical film Puttin' on the Ritz (1930).

    Roland - Taco's Manager

  • @RoCoMANAGEMENT True enough. :)

  • I believe The Ritz refers to the hotel The Ritz Sheridan in New York. I could be wrong.

  • Cut the anti-gay slurs and comments or I will disable comments on this video! I've had it and I'm tired of deleting them on a daily basis! If u can't say something nice, fuck off!

  • Nice work..nice to see music videos have survived online even if the idiots on MTV keep showing mindless teen angst shows..I would fire the entire staff and return it to the format that made it a hit

  • Is it me or does he look like tim curry at times?

  • 1:07 "make it rain!"

  • 4 dislikes, eh? Guess those people like Wheat Thins better.

  • the original was so much better

  • love this guy

  • O_o

  • This definetly reminds me "istanbul not constantinople"

  • i love this song - love the original, love the remake, don't give two hoots about the blackface: it's a cultural reality of the era he is evoking. deal with it.

  • @threenorns3 lol i was just noticing the black face and thought oh no ! you wouldnt see that today

  • @1328daviess well, you would if it was a movie or story set in the 20s - 40s, really. at least, you would if the director wanted a hope in hades of any realism. let's face it - ppl were pigs back then. they're not any better now, they're just more subtle about it, is all.

  • @1328daviess Is that what the "uncensored" part means? I couldn't figure out why title would say that...until I saw the black face. Wow!!

  • @blyn1978 Yes i think that is what it is and i was wondering the same thing about the title

  • LOVE IT. Just LOVE IT.

  • When this video came out in 82 I thought at first it was Tim Curry.

  • i love this music video i figure skate to it

  • The blackface...HAS GOT TO GO!

  • @Romamuse - I don't think that the blackface is as offensive as the use of the words "super-duper" in the song. Just my .02

    cireonebitch - Taco's New Manager

  • Fe-able attempt at being Bowie!

  • I remember in 1994 listen to this song at a party student in Reno, NV., I was so drugged and drunk, I remember.

  • I loved this when I was in my sophmore year in high school. Thanks for the small trip down memory lane!

  • Well... this is possibly the smoothest "head slide" I've ever seen (and I'd already been around the sun many, many times when this video came out). Nice, quirky little "side to side". Say what you want, the guy knew how to move.

  • Is learning the dance starting at 1:57-2:14 !

  • HQ sound , Bravo...!

  • lmfao he dose look like hes right out of the ROCKY Horror transvestites scene

  • This was the jam back in the day..

  • Hate to say it, but this guy makes Tim Curry look like a pip squeak. ...and that's somewhere between good and bad.

  • my first thought when i saw him? hes a sweet transvestite from transsexual Transylvania.

  • BEST VERSION EVER!!!

  • I wasn`t even born in 1982 but love this song its a classic typical of the 80s. x x

  • You can't fuck with Taco.

  • why is this video so weird???

  • @JoleneRamsahai It was made in the eighties :)

  • I love tap

  • Tim Curry with a lightsaber

  • @rkcsam69 ha..so I'm not the only one that thought it.

  • Every time I hear this song I can't help but think of the movie Young Frankenstein.

  • @jctaxman que quiere decir Puttin 'on the Ritz"

  • Win.

  • thumbs up for tacos lightup cane

  • why is it just those people that are censored out? it dosnt make much sense to me.

  • @MAS68saxophone the so-called "blackface" scenes were edited out in the other version because someone with a lot of free time on their hands decided that it was racist. Probably the parents of the occupy Wall Street kids.

  • @pigvomit757575

    hello, black face is racist

  • @4realrenee So? we all have our quirks.

  • oh ok. thanks man. its not a bad song really.

  • great song but when he says "if ur trying to look like gary cooper" whos gary cooper?

  • @midnightcount66

The song was originally written in the 20s, Gary Cooper was a star who would act in westerns.

  • can't tell if that's his cane, or if he's ready to fight Darth Vader, ha ha.

  • Rocky horror revisited. This is song #9 according to a poll regarding the worst songs of the 80's. I agree with this one although I kind of like the song myself.

  • How can anyone feel nostalgia for the 1930s?

  • Comment removed

  • THAT JUST BLEW MY MIND!!!!

  • Taco and Matt Bianco early 80ies did relive a bit some *20/30ies* sound with much synths but the idea was there...It is just the same like in the first decade of the 21st century many did an 80ies revival with new techniques....*l'Histoire se répète*... like the French speaking people say :-) Very entertaining to hear and see this again!!!

  • MASTERPIECE!!!!

  • O rly? #TOLLOLOL

  • O rly? #LOL

  • Ahh that 80's synthesizer. If this song were remade today it would be auto-tuned :p

  • this shit is awesome!

  • lovely bit of sound fro way back when... still a bloody good song!! Thank you for posting!

  • I remember when HBO showed videos between movies in the early 80's.This was on constantly, along with Van Halen's JUMP

  • I always picture Gene Wilder from young Frankenstein whenever I heard this song as a kid...

  • IT WORKED BITCHEZ!!!

  • Did it work now? #FTW

  • #FTW did it work?

  • i remember me and my sis use to dance for our nanny to this song when we were little.. i love it. she use to laugh and clap lol. rip nanny we love ya. i think Taco is a handsome man in this video. hot

  • i remember me and my sis use to dance for our nanny to this song when we were little.. i love it. she use to laugh and clap lol. rip nanny we love ya

  • You can reach Taco + Roland here on youtube under "RoCoMANAGEMENT" #FTW

  • I can't help but think of Tim Curry when I watch this.

  • What was life like in the early 80's? I was born in 1985.

  • Can anyone say..COCAINE!!!?

    ...cocaine anyone?

  • Wow I haven't heard this song in ages :) thanx for the upload.

  • I think this is the weirdest video, kinda good, but WEEEEEEEIRD. But it WAS the 80's... *sigh*

  • I think I'll need an umberella tomorrow.

  • I love the super duper part , hehehe:]

  • Looks like he is really into it...would love to own that glow stick

  • Look at his face as he plays the piano - 3:08. lmao

  • so addicted to this song. the tune is so catchy

  • All of TACO'S videos are and I've liked this song and one other similar old days

song Oh Babe what would you say.....

  • Gosh I love this song

  • I never understood the decades of discussion at all, because the blackfaces in the video had nothing to do with racism in the furthest as far as Taco was concerned. Actually it was just a spontaneous idea on the set at that time, a hommage to the singer and entertainer Al Jolson, whom he greatly admired and who was also known as a famous "Blackface actor" of the 1920s!

    Roland - Taco's Manager

  • @RoCoMANAGEMENT Out of curiosity, is there any reason for the kind of creepy atmosphere?

  • I like a lot of the '80s stuff that has a slightly creepy aire to it. This vid had a really david lynchish surreal quality

  • Back in the days when music was music.

  • this is the shit xD

  • There is something about him that reminds me of Tim Curry.

  • I love this video & song! It reminds me of Cinderella Man movie era.

  • Okay but wierd

  • I LOVE THIS SONG SO MUCH!!!!!!!! lol and i listen to like death metal lol i love taco

  • That cane is relatively simple and cheap to make.

  • I really like this video. I love his cane.

  • this guy is a little bit to creepy haha

  • great 80s track

  • He looks like the Devil with a sense of humor!!! KAPOW!!!!!!!!!!!

  • the make up kinda ruins his for me......... thumbs up this if u agree

  • only once in a while i can listen to this one .....overplayed in the 80's!!!`

  • Taco is not an artist's name but a common first name in the Netherlands.

His full name is Taco Ockerse, born in Jakarta/Indonesia in 1955.

He spent his childhood in the Netherlands, U.S.A., Singapore, Luxembourg, Belgium and Germany, visited everywhere the "International Schools Of America" and graduated 1973 in Brussels/Belgium.

    Roland - Taco's manager

  • I love this song! I line danced to it!

  • hahaha WWE Great Khali danced to this hahha

  • i love this songg n loive it when stewie sings it too lol =) love the tap dancing love the 80's rule

  • Music with lyrics great music video.

  • I do so apologize for the comment that was made with my name this was not me by any means..Taco was loved by so many in the 80's and yrs ahead not only for their musical talent but also because of their unique style. It does not bother me to the least on how they dressed or their style this was their way of showing their own identity in the music world. I loved them then as I do now.

  • What's Taco's real name?

  • i love this song

  • This video is a horrible acid trip....just horrible....catchy song though

  • anyone ever notice he looks like Dr. Frank n Furter (Tim Curry) on the Rocky Horror picture show?

  • dang taco is good but i think he needs to take the makeup off it makes him look gay!?

  • @shugg1955 And what is wrong with "looking" gay or being androgynous? It was the '80s!

  • @tboy24

Besides: Any man who shaves basically follows an androgynous beauty ideal anyway...

  • @tboy24 I so agree with you...the whole decade of the 80s was about excess and self expression!

  • @shugg1955 And what is wrong with looking gay? Even if it would not have been the '80s! :-)

  • @shugg1955 yea,,, i don't think its the make-up that makes him look gay.. haha

  • @shugg1955 It's show business! I wonder if he does that commercial that's been on the last 1/2 year or so. I think it's for Laughing Cow cheese (which tastes awful, to me) but I love TACO!

  • @shugg1955

    ANDROGYNOUSITY EQUATES THE 1980'S.

VERY IMAGINATIVE ERA, NICE MUSIK !!!!!! Originality in its entirety

  • lol i LOVE the light saber

  • just love the lyrics to this song. and the theme!

  • please, tell me. what was censored here and why? thanks in advance for the reply.

  • @agentahron the censored parts were the black face people dancing in the video and saying Super Duper...they were replaced with close up's of Taco's face and a photo of Gary Cooper. The censorship was designed because it was deemed racist by MTV Networks.

  • @tboy24 I didn't think I was dreaming about that! Coz I seen this video reappear in 1996 on VH1 and during the 3 times Taco sings "Dressed up like a million dollar trooper, trying hard to look like Gary Cooper" a photo of the late Gary Cooper zooms in each time. I thought that was neat.

  • @tboy24 pt 2 but to have been able to post the version before it was supposed to be censored. Wow! The black face ones, were really creepy. Not to mention the video in itself(How often do millionaires dress to the nines and dance in the ghettos?) Taco kicked ass with the dancing and lyrics to this song, if we never here from him again, at least he rocked with this!

  • @tboy24 ahhh good trivia lol

  • @tboy24 really? that was the censored part? stupid mtv

  • @tboy24 the reason why it was deemed racist was because in the 1950's and 60's in all white schools when a school play was performed as an extremely racist insult to the black populous they would paint their faces black and act in a very vulgar and stereotypical way so MTV removed the infamous "black face"

  • @tboy24 Oh what did MTV know?

  • Comment removed

  • Suit up, fellas! Lol.

  • damn that taco dude is a smooth mother fucker

  • Light Saber cane = awesomeness x 94.

  • @Uriah470 This comment. Win x 94.

  • Cool song. I wonder what people were doing when this song came.

  • @roosevelthighschool makes you wonder. Or where we were at when we first heard the song...and what else was going on in the world.

  • I was just wondering what is up with this video? I don't know.

  • lol

  • He reminds me of Tim Curry but at points of Andy from The Office as well. Classic video! Thanks for posting!

  • Oh the memories that this video brings back to me. I just turned 25 this week, tboy24. Just to let you know.

  • Taco reminds me of Tim Curry a little in this video!

  • i knew there was a reason why i found his make-up really awesome! :-D

  • a throwback to the dancers of ol' Hollywood 30's and 40's...but why does this video take place in a ghetto of all places? Never could figure that out. Creepy. But still makes me wanna dance!

  • Great video and song.

  • This song was EXTREAMLY well crafted. A great example of the variety of music from the "BEST DECADE" of music called the 80's.

  • What's the line "have you seen the well-to-do?" all about?

  • Well-to-do is a phrase used to describe people who are monetarily wealthy.

  • @tboy24 So in other words rich?

  • Yeah. LOL

  • @roosevelthighschool puttin on the ritz

  • Cool and intriguing video you got here, tboy24.

  • i love this song but taco can really be the stuff of nightmares at times...

  • the thing that gave me nighmares was they were dressed as millionaires but hanging out in the dumpies sections in town. i would be too afraid. I know it was just a video though? and the rat? UGH!

  • this song is amazing.

  • This is supposed to be progressive and hip in 1982 and yet they still have white people tap dancing in black face.

  • I think this video paid homage to dancers like Fred Astaire, Gary Cooper, Ginger Rogers. Not sure how much you know about all the hollywood stars in the 30's and 40's. It's a lot like Madonna's "Vogue."

  • Man, seeing this brings back a buttload of memories. I remember this song from my early childhood. Basically and 80s version of the Fred Astaire's rendition. I faved this vid, thank you for posting it. I even downloaded it and I play it on my LG Chocolate.

I feel like I'm 7 y.o. again. Hard to believe this vid is almost 30 years old....unreal but real!

  • Definately not a video to interput from the house of Marxism! Bums eating rats-o-a-stick juxtaposed with white-tie tuxes! Gross!

  • This must be the uncensored version. I say that because I remember a version where whenever Taco says, "dressed up like a million dollar trooper. Trying hard to look like Gary Cooper" they would show a picture of him.

  • It is, the censored version didn't have the black faces. I think that MTV found it offensive, because back then they took offense to the dumbest crap! In 1982 they banned Queen's Body Language video but its tame compared to most of Madonna's videos even just 2-3 years later!

  • Awesome video

  • awesome song

  • The lead singer (Taco) reminds me of actor Tim Curry.

  • This version is High Quality!!!! Thank You.
