I'd love to here more about bonobos and how they relate to humans. Whenever people compare humans to apes, it seems like the tend to look at the common chimpanzee, when bonobos appear to be more closely related to us.
Oh and... I think we could all take a lesson from the bonobos:
Okay I'm no professional scientist but I'm pretty sure bonobos are not chimps and "they often walk upright" is a huge exaggeration. I think I heard once they found ONE culture of bonobos that walked upright often
@karenmelissa002 Bonobos are indeed chimps and they do indeed "often walk upright" when carrying objects. Learn something before posting about things you have no knowledge of.
@bibbler227 Ok after a lot of research even now MORE convinced that Bonobos are not Chimps. Bonobos(Pan paniscus) and chimps (Pan troglodytes) share a common ancestor but Bonobos are NOT chimps. "Bonobos and chimpanzees diverged from each other around 2 million years ago and differ in morphology, behavior, and perhaps even emotions and cognition in important ways."
Maybe humans could take a leaf out of the bonobos book, our next major war could instead be a giant international orgy, and everyone will be happy at the end of, the atomic bomb could be one giant money shot.
As for human intelligence, do you think for a second that a bonobo would even have the thought to refrain from sex? It's simple, if a person doesn't want to have kids, they don't have sex. This simple concept alone could lead to a sort of taboo towards sex. These are all just hypotheses.
@Tichondrio My argument was simply that STDs have always existed. I feel like it's possible that the reason sex was turned into a taboo, among many other reasons, could be that realistically, if everyone were to have only one sexual partner, sexual transmitted diseases would not be an issue. Lol insert monogamy, the institution of marriage, and thus many religions' stand on sex.
@rassclaat23 considering many STDs were only discovered recently in the last 200 years your argument doesn't hold up. Sex has been a taboo long before that, and monogamy is a man made concept, not a god given idea. Sex being considered a taboo varies from culture to culture but one things remains constant: in most religions, at least the major ones, sex is considered a taboo.
@Grizzly0679 I never said monogamy was a god given idea. I said that logically, if you wish to stop the spread of a sexually transmitted disease, monogamy makes complete sense. Also, STDs have always existed from the time bacteria, and viruses have found ways to get from organism to organism. I would say that definitely from the time that sex was made taboo, the connection between sex and the diseases had been made.
@rassclaat23 But that's simply not the case. Aside from the fact that AIDS wasn't discovered till the 1980's, things like siphilis which was first recorded around the 15th century were associated with cultures, and not necessarily thought to be contagious by all. Religion came into play around 1000 years before christ to about 1000 years after(majors ones at least). During that time a lot of diseases were thought to have been the result of demonic possession. As for stopping the spread of sds...
@rassclaat23 ...perhaps that's the wrong way to look at it.. Perhaps STDs are nature's way of stopping the spread of of us. After all, it's not like we're some god given gift to this planet. I think the Matrix illustrated a good analogy comparing our mass behavior to that of cancer. We do some good and life on the whole is getting better, but when all is said and done, we will have left a huge footprint.
I just read Ape House by Sarah Gruen and it was a great book based on Bonobos like these. When I saw them standing up and walking I was shocked. i didn't know primates did that in any regular fashion. Truly amazing that we can see what we evolved from.

@DeliciousTalk lol my friend was telling me how "interesting" bonobo monkeys are. guess i learn how charles darwin refered us to monkeys from observing the face to face erm activity cough
@Grizzly0679 I don believe in his theory of humans evolving from "apes" a long time ago.I believe in my religion. And my religion says man and woman were made in the beginning of our species, not apes or monkeys. If you are an atheist, i wont go further cause it wouldnt make sense to you.
@sustantivo1espritu I challenge you to actually look at the evidence. There is no need for a belief. We've witnessed speciation in our own generation like new salamanders, new plants, diseases, etc..., have the fossil record showing the human evolution(I believe on public display in New York at the museum of Natural History), genetic testing, carbon 14 dating, and the list goes on. Virtually all respected scientists from across the globe support it. Or is that some global conspiracy? :\
@Grizzly0679I know about all that.well global conspiracy?thats a very godd question. Find out more about it. World isnt nice as it appears to be. Television and main media is easily manipulated. Its ok man i have my own reasons to believe what i believe. To me science tells many factual things but not everything.
@sustantivo1espritu Yes, but what I'm saying is, you have no reason to "believe" in evolution. It's a fact and it DOES NOT compromise your idea that there is a creator. See you folks mix up abiogenesis(how it all began) with evolution(what happens after it's all here). You can still adhere to the laws of evolution while maintaining a belief in a creator. A global conspiracy involving evolution is far fetched as it would have to include every scientists from MANY diff. fields all over the globe.
@sustantivo1espritu Science merely tries to explain the physical world which is why the subject of god has nothing to do with science. And no, you don't know all about the evidence I listed otherwise you wouldn't have a choice but to accept the facts as they are. It's that is willful ignorance at its highest level. Whatever, it's your choice how you wish to see the world, but without an understanding of science you're missing out on some pretty amazing things.
@Grizzly0679 hmmm seems one my sentences was deleted by accident. Should read:
"It's that or you believe we all came from magic, and to accept that in fact of such overwhelming facts in support of evolution is willful ignorance at its highest level."
@Grizzly0679 Good luck to you . I lead my life you lead yours. Oh no i didnt say i ignored science. I love sciences fyi.I just ignored the theory of us humans being being evolved from apes .Thats all.Simple
@sustantivo1espritu No, you don't love science. People who love science do not deliberately ignore evidence just because it doesn't fit in with religion. That's what insane people do, and the fact that the only reason you deny evolution, is because you know deep down it would make you realize that your faith is pointless, and that submission holds no truth. So please, don't ignore evolution, that's like ignoring the theory of gravity.
@SlypherSpoons hahaha who are you to judge me and I love or not? as i said you live your life i live mine. I have no regrets man. go live your life and see what happens when it ends. good day
@sustantivo1espritu best of luck to you too. I hope one day you take the time to (perhaps secretly) look at the evidence, understand our origins, and still have a place in your life for some spiritual guidance. Even the Vatican supports that view so long as it doesn't become dogma. Always a pleasure philosophucking.
@sustantivo1espritu it wouldn't make sense to him because he is rationally thinking and using evidence that we have discovered in the 2500 year period in which your book of fairy tails was written. Religion has a good morale code but other then that has no place in modern times, Do we still sacrifice conquered people to the sun gods? If not then why do you talk to yourself and call it praying, Think for yourself and embrace how far we've come in 2500 years....
@Okesoke Many types of religion my friend. the one on sun gods you can call that cults. My religion doesnt practice that. ohh religion does have its place in modern or old times. Like i said atheists will never see as we do because of place on this Earth isnt pure coincidence. Lets say there is no god, and i follow my way and you follow yours.we will end up the same place regardless. and then lets say there is one, and im practising my religion, now who will be in trouble. weigh the options.
@sustantivo1espritu I'm not a athiest though, am a agnostic. If you could prove god to me with science, I would 100% believe in him, as I do gravity and evolution. The one thing I won't do is blindly believe in something that has no evidence supporting it. Why would you allow yourself to be scared into limiting your thoughts and actions just because someone told you there was a hell? 2500 years ago this wouldn't be so far fetched, but in the modern age, its completely insane. I understand you
@sustantivo1espritu were probably raised into your religion, believe me, i was raised roman catholic until the age of 12 when I could put together rational thought and think for myself. Its also why I understand the potential good in the church, buts its relativity with social evolution should have fazed out after the dark ages, once real scientist started unlocking the earths and universes secrets that should have been the end of it. Instead they killed them to repress real progress. Sad times
@Okesoke yeah I know they were against sciences back in the past and seek to silent it. Islam doesnt teach about killing scientists and stopping progress. its more like we encourage them to learn about science such as medicine and surgery from the history i researched.Yes i was raised into it. but I never really been into my religion till a few years ago. Our religion even talked about the formation of child in the womb in stages which took hundreds of years before scientists figured it out.
So.. How do we know we are the first and the most evolved creatures? Maybe some millions of years ago there were other species and we were like bonobos for them. Maybe they killed themselves or moved to another planet without an evidence. Wait.. So.. If exist, aliens are our upgraded version? WTF?
The fact that bonobos split from chimpanzees only about 1 million years means that chimps are still evolving. So maybe in like 4 or 5 million years from now, long after we have left the planet and erased all traces of our existence with nanotech, these animals decendents will have reached our level of intelligence.Could be later could be sooner, but one things for shore, evolution never stops unless its stopped.
Well of course the Chimpanzees are like humans, they are the closest relatives to humans in evolution (for those of you who do not believe in the theory of evolution, please kindly ignore my comment, thank you).
lol I love how this bitch is jumping to conclusions so easily, they're just sitting around doing nothing and see immediately assumes they are thinking about something. It might very well be possible but my rabbit can sit down for hours as well just looking around, it means it is being alert and just watching it surroundings while at the same time having some rest.
@Gocavs1990 Come on man, dont be such a smart ass. Just look at 2:00 the monkey is obviously glazing/daydreaming NOT staring at something. She's not being dramatic, monkeys have imagination. Obviously rabbits and fish just sit around and do nothing. But they just look dimwitted. If you stair in that 2:00 monkey's eyes, you can see its daydreaming. Might not be something deep and profound, just a simple daydream probably. But they ARE thinking, not just doing and acting.
Do you think it's possible for a human to beat a chimpanzee in an Arm Wrestling Match? I mean, I know it's not likely since they're much stronger, but I wonder if it's do-able?
@sharjes84 I would very much hope that. :) Their predecessors may make a better hominid species than us, if they don't go extinct. Their temperament, with our complex cognitive ability, would make for an amazing future. I wonder how awesome it would have been to live amongst different species of hominids all at one time.
I think shes attributing a bit too much to them. The waterfall chimp is just enjoying himself swinging in the open over the interesting/noisy waterfall.Capuchins swing from trees into rivers for amusement. And the one looking at the jungle is not thinking much. While possesing some intelligence, their minds a still far from ours. Not really able to gather coherence of thought,to come to a proper halt to analyze or establish long enough patterns of thought.Mostly reactions to instincts, mem.,stimuli
I don't see how anyone could deny the "humanity" present in these creatures, although we're more related to common chimps in behavioral aspects (violence instead of sex, territorial, etc)
@Lukeor i don't think it was supposed to be like that originally - but you can trust human-beings to distort it and get crust it over with confusion...
@lastsaracen Umm, no. We're animals - get over the anthropocentric viewpoint on life. Homo Sapien is part of the Homo genus which is the great ape family. And yes religion did put a taboo on sex, hence why "fornicators" and "sodomites" will go to "hell". Read a fucking book. Start with your bible.
@Grizzly0679 Take it easy man. I'm not a Christians, I'm a Muslim. And yes, let's have some respect for the Christians. Ape family, umm? You know, strange enough, the Quran does speak about human beings that were transformed into apes in denigration and degradation. We're not animals, the same way that crustaceans are not mammal. so yes, there are 6 not 5.:- Animals, Plants, Fungi, Bacteria, Protist and humans. You know, why is it that humans are so fearful of the truth, almost terrified of it?
Maby all the leading American Government officials, all the crazy conservative TV personalities (i.e. Glen Bleck, Bill O'Reilly), and the leaders of Al Quaeda should all just have a mass orgy. I'm sure that would calm things down.
Having a an attractive human female narrating this makes learning about the bonobos having pedophiliac threesomes not as weird for some odd reason. I think it would be much weirder if a 60 year old British dude was talking about it.
In a few generations we will have inter-species communication around the world, and these chimps won't want anything to do with us once they realize how bat shit crazy 90% of humans are.
"most animals have sex to make babies" bullshit. who came up with that idea? all animals do it for the same reason, pleasure. pleasure is synonomous w/ instinct. they are the same thing when it comes to mating.
@EvilGniusStudios you dont believe instinct exsists? how does an animal know it wants to have sex before it ever has sex. instinct. there are many other instincts as well. i think all animals have 2 "parts" to their brain when it comes to behavior and actions. a "mind" side and an instinct side. they are not balanced in all animals. most animals mostly use the instinct but may use some mind and thinking. humans mostly use the mind side but some basic instincts remain in us today (ie sex)
@claynate Lem me briefly explain what I mean there is no instinct. The word in itself does not explain the method but just replaces it with.... nothing..... That is to say when salmon go back to the sporting grounds an ignorant person (that is to say one that does not know how to explain why, or does not know the mechanic that allows the salmon to do such action) will use the word instinct. or when a bird flies thousands of miles to go back to it's birth place the same thing.... instinct
@EvilGniusStudios i think i understand what your saying. but i think behaviors that are not learned by the animal are considered instinct. the salmon might very well be using memory or something else. its hard to know the minds of animals.
so how does a baby see turtle know to go to the ocean. that is an instinct.
@claynate There are mechanisms or methods that we do not understand that allow animals to do such things. Certain birds can see the poles due to its magnetic field that is to say they can see it ontop of their regular vision. It was found that salmon follow the shade of the running water. I know some behaviours are hard to understand, when birds "sing" they act upon different sounds that humans can't hear. similar to a dog whistle that dogs can hear but we cant' a mechanism that triggers it
@EvilGniusStudios yes but the "instincts" are behaviors that make the animal what it is. how does the turtle know to go to the ocean. why doesnt a baby turtle just walk inland? instincts are pretty much things the brain "knows" at birth.
@claynate I'm sorry if I'm unable to get my point across. That is exactly what I'm talking about the word instinct has no meaning or does not explain the process of why turtles go to the ocean. It gives no information what so ever. It replaces the unknown with "instinct". From what I've gathered in my years of studying human and animal behavior is that for every instance that someone has used the word instinct there is a mechanical reason for that action. Sometimes we can't perceive it as humans
@EvilGniusStudios I would say instinct/drive means: you feel good if you do this, you feel bad if you do that. You can choose what to do. But you can not choose what the resulting feelings are. Thats true for humans and for animals. and what actions make us feel in what way is a program in our head. programs either reproduce themselfes or not. thats evolution.
@Psyho84 Humans can be conditioned to feel good about pretty much anything. It's not instinctive. You can be ashamed of being naked, or you can be ashamed to wear clothes that's dependent or culture (environment). Some characteristics are hard wired into every human( assuming no extreme mutations in their DNA). Like a blind person who's never seen a smile will smile when they are happy. Questions do birds fly instinctively?
@EvilGniusStudios ok instinct results in behaviors and feelings that are not learned. the 2 biggest are survival and mating. why does anything want to keep living? why not just die? why does anything want to have sex? why does sex feel good?
And instinct in the sense of intuition is simply perception and analysis of our environment, though unconciously. We like some person or we dont. we dont know what information our brain perceived and how it perceived it, and how it analyzed it , we just get the gut feeling. Its like a division in a company and we are the boss that only gets the final report but doesnt cociously know how it was made. That instinct-division has millions of years of experience and can be trusted
lol... and they told me the hippies were crazy saying: "love is the answer"... they should have let Bill Clinton play with Monica Lewinsky... they should have give George W Bush a hot chick to play with... and we would have never had an Iraq war... they should have let Bin Laden have his heaven with his 72 virgins (although I think he would have preferred 72 sluts instead!) and we would have never had a 9/11 ! do it like bonobos and ethernal peace will come... just give it a try ;)
@bogdancomm Why don't YOU leave us alone and go living with bonobos, to begin with ? If the experiment is great, then you'll have many followers...give it a try yourself, and don't ask others to do the same because you're not really sure...it's really a good idea ;)
@061369317 lol... you have a real hard to spell nick! are from a prisoner campus, or what? anyway read again, because your comment has nothing to do with mine... come on dude... relax! maybe you need a healthy sex reprise, too... well, if you really are in prison, you'll need some lube...

Grizzly0679 4 months ago
@Grizzly0679I know about all that.well global conspiracy?thats a very godd question. Find out more about it. World isnt nice as it appears to be. Television and main media is easily manipulated. Its ok man i have my own reasons to believe what i believe. To me science tells many factual things but not everything.
sustantivo1espritu 4 months ago
@sustantivo1espritu Yes, but what I'm saying is, you have no reason to "believe" in evolution. It's a fact and it DOES NOT compromise your idea that there is a creator. See you folks mix up abiogenesis(how it all began) with evolution(what happens after it's all here). You can still adhere to the laws of evolution while maintaining a belief in a creator. A global conspiracy involving evolution is far fetched as it would have to include every scientists from MANY diff. fields all over the globe.
Grizzly0679 4 months ago
@sustantivo1espritu Science merely tries to explain the physical world which is why the subject of god has nothing to do with science. And no, you don't know all about the evidence I listed otherwise you wouldn't have a choice but to accept the facts as they are. It's that is willful ignorance at its highest level. Whatever, it's your choice how you wish to see the world, but without an understanding of science you're missing out on some pretty amazing things.
Grizzly0679 4 months ago
@Grizzly0679 hmmm seems one my sentences was deleted by accident. Should read:
"It's that or you believe we all came from magic, and to accept that in fact of such overwhelming facts in support of evolution is willful ignorance at its highest level."
Grizzly0679 4 months ago
@Grizzly0679 Good luck to you . I lead my life you lead yours. Oh no i didnt say i ignored science. I love sciences fyi.I just ignored the theory of us humans being being evolved from apes .Thats all.Simple
sustantivo1espritu 4 months ago
@sustantivo1espritu No, you don't love science. People who love science do not deliberately ignore evidence just because it doesn't fit in with religion. That's what insane people do, and the fact that the only reason you deny evolution, is because you know deep down it would make you realize that your faith is pointless, and that submission holds no truth. So please, don't ignore evolution, that's like ignoring the theory of gravity.

Okesoke 4 months ago
@Okesoke Many types of religion my friend. the one on sun gods you can call that cults. My religion doesnt practice that. ohh religion does have its place in modern or old times. Like i said atheists will never see as we do because of place on this Earth isnt pure coincidence. Lets say there is no god, and i follow my way and you follow yours.we will end up the same place regardless. and then lets say there is one, and im practising my religion, now who will be in trouble. weigh the options.
sustantivo1espritu 4 months ago
@sustantivo1espritu I'm not a athiest though, am a agnostic. If you could prove god to me with science, I would 100% believe in him, as I do gravity and evolution. The one thing I won't do is blindly believe in something that has no evidence supporting it. Why would you allow yourself to be scared into limiting your thoughts and actions just because someone told you there was a hell? 2500 years ago this wouldn't be so far fetched, but in the modern age, its completely insane. I understand you
Okesoke 4 months ago
@sustantivo1espritu were probably raised into your religion, believe me, i was raised roman catholic until the age of 12 when I could put together rational thought and think for myself. Its also why I understand the potential good in the church, buts its relativity with social evolution should have fazed out after the dark ages, once real scientist started unlocking the earths and universes secrets that should have been the end of it. Instead they killed them to repress real progress. Sad times
Okesoke 4 months ago
@Okesoke yeah I know they were against sciences back in the past and seek to silent it. Islam doesnt teach about killing scientists and stopping progress. its more like we encourage them to learn about science such as medicine and surgery from the history i researched.Yes i was raised into it. but I never really been into my religion till a few years ago. Our religion even talked about the formation of child in the womb in stages which took hundreds of years before scientists figured it out.

Aspanaut 6 months ago
Well of course the Chimpanzees are like humans, they are the closest relatives to humans in evolution (for those of you who do not believe in the theory of evolution, please kindly ignore my comment, thank you).

lol I love how this bitch is jumping to conclusions so easily, they're just sitting around doing nothing and see immediately assumes they are thinking about something. It might very well be possible but my rabbit can sit down for hours as well just looking around, it means it is being alert and just watching it surroundings while at the same time having some rest.
Gocavs1990 7 months ago
@Gocavs1990 Come on man, dont be such a smart ass. Just look at 2:00 the monkey is obviously glazing/daydreaming NOT staring at something. She's not being dramatic, monkeys have imagination. Obviously rabbits and fish just sit around and do nothing. But they just look dimwitted. If you stair in that 2:00 monkey's eyes, you can see its daydreaming. Might not be something deep and profound, just a simple daydream probably. But they ARE thinking, not just doing and acting.

"most animals have sex to make babies" bullshit. who came up with that idea? all animals do it for the same reason, pleasure. pleasure is synonomous w/ instinct. they are the same thing when it comes to mating.
claynate 11 months ago
@claynate there is no such thing as instinct. they act upon their eviroment! go read a book.
EvilGniusStudios 11 months ago
@EvilGniusStudios you dont believe instinct exsists? how does an animal know it wants to have sex before it ever has sex. instinct. there are many other instincts as well. i think all animals have 2 "parts" to their brain when it comes to behavior and actions. a "mind" side and an instinct side. they are not balanced in all animals. most animals mostly use the instinct but may use some mind and thinking. humans mostly use the mind side but some basic instincts remain in us today (ie sex)
claynate 11 months ago
@claynate Lem me briefly explain what I mean there is no instinct. The word in itself does not explain the method but just replaces it with.... nothing..... That is to say when salmon go back to the sporting grounds an ignorant person (that is to say one that does not know how to explain why, or does not know the mechanic that allows the salmon to do such action) will use the word instinct. or when a bird flies thousands of miles to go back to it's birth place the same thing.... instinct
EvilGniusStudios 11 months ago
@EvilGniusStudios i think i understand what your saying. but i think behaviors that are not learned by the animal are considered instinct. the salmon might very well be using memory or something else. its hard to know the minds of animals.
so how does a baby see turtle know to go to the ocean. that is an instinct.
claynate 11 months ago
@claynate There are mechanisms or methods that we do not understand that allow animals to do such things. Certain birds can see the poles due to its magnetic field that is to say they can see it ontop of their regular vision. It was found that salmon follow the shade of the running water. I know some behaviours are hard to understand, when birds "sing" they act upon different sounds that humans can't hear. similar to a dog whistle that dogs can hear but we cant' a mechanism that triggers it
EvilGniusStudios 11 months ago
@EvilGniusStudios yes but the "instincts" are behaviors that make the animal what it is. how does the turtle know to go to the ocean. why doesnt a baby turtle just walk inland? instincts are pretty much things the brain "knows" at birth.
claynate 11 months ago
@claynate I'm sorry if I'm unable to get my point across. That is exactly what I'm talking about the word instinct has no meaning or does not explain the process of why turtles go to the ocean. It gives no information what so ever. It replaces the unknown with "instinct". From what I've gathered in my years of studying human and animal behavior is that for every instance that someone has used the word instinct there is a mechanical reason for that action. Sometimes we can't perceive it as humans
EvilGniusStudios 11 months ago
@EvilGniusStudios I would say instinct/drive means: you feel good if you do this, you feel bad if you do that. You can choose what to do. But you can not choose what the resulting feelings are. Thats true for humans and for animals. and what actions make us feel in what way is a program in our head. programs either reproduce themselfes or not. thats evolution.
Psyho84 11 months ago
@Psyho84 Humans can be conditioned to feel good about pretty much anything. It's not instinctive. You can be ashamed of being naked, or you can be ashamed to wear clothes that's dependent or culture (environment). Some characteristics are hard wired into every human( assuming no extreme mutations in their DNA). Like a blind person who's never seen a smile will smile when they are happy. Questions do birds fly instinctively?
EvilGniusStudios 11 months ago
@EvilGniusStudios ok instinct results in behaviors and feelings that are not learned. the 2 biggest are survival and mating. why does anything want to keep living? why not just die? why does anything want to have sex? why does sex feel good?
claynate 11 months ago
@EvilGniusStudios
