E. mailed our son down south to listen to it. He and Iain are good on the guitar and great Buddy Holly fans and Eddie Cochrane. Yvonne n Iain the auld anes fae Bonnie Scotland

  • Great guitar! Great Sound!

And for all the nitpickers... Buddy used several different guitars, depending on what he was after.

Mainly a Fender Strat, yes... but not only a Strat and not only Fender.

Rickenbackerpicker, you've captured the sound and the feel - and that's what rock n roll is all about.

  • Thanks very much ...and thanks for the info for nitpickers - Jez

  • lovely cover version mate!! i am a massive rock and roll/rockabilly fan, buddy holly being one of my all time favourite artists!!! love the sound you get from the rickenbacker, having said that, i cant go past a 6120 Gretsch!!

Sounds great. I want to try this on my Fender.

It's just a Strat but should sound ok on this song.

  • Buddy holly was a Strat guy, you should be fine.

  • Strat should sound perfect for this song, considering it was originally recorded using one!!!

all your covers are brilliant, especially the kinks ones!

    god save the kinks

  • sounds better on a Ric than anyone else has done

  • Is that reverb that you have thrown in there ?

  • Wow, this is great! I thought this was the first time I'd ever heard NFA played on a Ric, but then I remembered seeing Tom Petty and the Heartbreakers' version of the song. I like the sound you get...between the guitar and your vocal, it's so full.

I love it when somebody has a neat new idea to approach this song with...without messing it up. Great work!

  • Man, I really love how you manage to play everything sounding so authentic to the actual recording. That's truly impressive!

  • I love the way that Rickenbacker sounds playing this song! Awesome cover! I really took great inspiration from your version when I was working on this song. I recently added my acoustic cover of Not Fade Away. It's actually just about my favorite Buddy Holly song.

  • I'm really glad you liked it. It's one of my favourite Buddy Holly songs too. I'll have a look at your version.
