June 1967. USS Oriskany (CVA-34) tied up in Sasebo, Japan, listening to this for the 1st time on a tape I just received from the States.... good times...
I remember back in the 60's i barrowed this song from a friend, and i never gave it back to him , then i lost it and bought the lp' in the 70's, and i still have it i love this song.
I remember listening to this with my fire team on the front bunker in Tuy Loan Village, RVN...as the sun went down. Where ever you guys are; God speed.
Swaeeeeet. What a great Classic. That is was I call a Mellow Instrumental. Funny how music like this takes You back so far you remember your life as it was then friends and all. Huh what a trip. Thanks...
This is what I personally feel to be the definitive rendition of this song, even though the Young Rascals originated it. I love their recording of this as well. But Booker T and MGs' recording of "Groovin'" is truly beautiful. The jukebox setup in this video looks to be home-made. Nice work. Thanks so much for posting.
@fnbanshee It's a '79 Rock-Ola, with the classic (since '48) mech. When I acquired it (in '83) second-hand jukeboxes were relatively cheap - but often FILTHY inside - since their works were no longer intended to be SEEN (although I intended that mine WOULD be - I knew all I had to do was remove the plastic moulding, inside the glass). However, THIS one was clean as a whistle - which is why I chose it - 'cause they are a BUGGER to CLEAN!!
p.s. Sorry it took me a year to reply to your comment!
