@viannafin it could also be referring to the ancient story about leading 5 blind Chinese men to an elephant and asking them to describe it. They are all lead to a different area so describe it differently. Basically its all about perspective.

I hate it when they portray high school as some constantly fun, happy, OMGYAY!, sort of place. Finally, it's good to see a director who's got the nitty-gritty feeling of high school down; maybe not to a tee, but, certainly, the best I've seen in a long, long time. It's seldom that you see a movie that doesn't BS how "happy and joyous" being a teenager in today's society.

Also I think that the camera angle really puts it into a defined mood - like you're there, but at the same time - watching.

i agree, the minimalistic manner of writing too, it couples with the camera work to really create an authentic feeling that this is just a floating eye watching a normal high school and its students in the final moments of normality, and then to a surreal terror.

If there was an elephant in the room you cannot NOT see it, but you can pretend you don't.

A social pyramid seems to resonate. Regarding one set of student more important than the other. At the top Cheerleaders/Jocks, the bottom the studious musical or socially anxious. It is clear irony their life is soundtracked to the same dramatic conclusion, despite the casting system. Thus; High school problems
