Pato is more enjoyable to watch. His talent is more natural. Messi is a machine and a better player out of the two. Unfortunatelly injuries and lack of consistency (maybe becasue of the injuries) have kept Pato from shining more than he has. Today he scored an amazing goal for Milan against Sampdoria. He has the potential to be the no. 1 one day. Messi has had a career free of injuries and have played for a superb team. That also helps a lot.

Here is the thing. Messi playing for Barcelona is beyond the charts. Messi playing for Argentina isn't that special. Pato playing for Milan is very impressive. Pato playing for Brazil ist at least as impressive. Messi needs Barcelona to shine, while Pato is able to impress not only for Milan, but for Brazil as well AND he hasn't even reached his potential yet. Argentina still has to understand that even a Messi won't make them better than Brazil.
