To me, it makes sense the way targeting is handled in Eve. In a computer era, it would be silly to aim by sight when you can have a computer perfectly configure your shots. Of course, that sort of control is less exciting and doesn't require as much skill as controlling freely your ship, but the challenge in Eve is not in shooting enemies - it's in managing the universe.
Depends on how you look at it, I guess. The brain is by far the most powerful "computer". Could argue that in the future, we might have the technology to "fine-tune" the brain (implants or genetic engineering maybe?), allowing people to aim & react better and faster than a computer ever could. Ofc, you could also argue that we might have computers more powerful than the brain by then too. All just speculation...but what really matters...is manual aiming is way more fun :) lol

Eve's point and click game play with its carrot & stick levelling system wont suit all. I played Eve for six months when it was released, but stopped as it took up too much time, getting up at 3 am to start a new skill level really sux.
However i agaree re the crappy point and click playstyle, i never really felt like i was "flying" a ship in eve and if jumpgate pulls this off its a massive win from me.

The general consensus is that Frigates have the captian, but larger ships have crews, and capitals ships have huge crews.
Nowhere in eve does it say that everyone is a capsuleer. Nor does it say capsuleers are in a fetus-like state. In fact being a pod pilot is something an elite few (several hundred thousand among trillions) get to have. They're normal humans, they just have a lot of implants and a plug in their neck.
That explains the reason why EvE Online is advertised to look like it's a chaotic twitch-space game on youtube or trailers.
You should see how many people are dissapointed at how slow and dissapointing that game is. The combat is not fun. The politics of eve is the only fun thing about it. It takes ya two years to get to that point though...since you wait on the game to level you. That game is never going to grow.
Eve Online is growing constantly, not just with updates, but also with new subscriptions. Eve is one of those types of games that you will either love.. or hate. Saying it is slow.. i can see how it would feel that way because of the skill leveling taking time, but still it doesnt take high skillpoints to have fun in the game. The combat is MUCH fun. The lag is not that bad in big fleet battles compared to earlier either. In fact in alot of cases it would probably be your computer failing.
No I dont nerd rage. Do you? Eve Players are all different types of persons and have different preferences on how to play the game. Some like to mine and produce. Some like to PvP. I am the latter. Personally I have played Eve since may 2003, and I am just as thrilled about the game now, as I was back when I started. To me there is no better game than Eve.

OK so what's this? All I see are missiles (?) and no lasers? Action is so slow like it's made for grandmothers to play after they retire.
SWG has much more insane fast paced twitch space combat pvp than this.

In Jumpgate it's a starfighter based combat. In I-War series, it's mostly capital ship combat. Hence, it's more fast paced than I-War 2.

Really it's apples and oranges. Jumpgate seems to be a twitch fighter, Eve is a tactical game.
Personally, I don't like the "Airplane-in-space" types of games as much.
Also, if big PvP events have to be hosted, it's not the same. EvE is truly run by the players and so far I haven't found another MMO like that.
