@dddave999 Dude its not fake. Do you know anything? we had to shoot this satellite down because it was getting to close to the atmosphere and if it got sucked in it would come crashing down to earth full of toxic highly explosive fuel. its also the size of about 2 or 3 buses. if this thing hit a heavily populated area there would be many dead. We didnt just shoot this down for fun we had to to ensure safety of people in our country. This procedure to time and very precise planning its not fake
@ashthegreat Space doesn't work that way. It's moving perpendicular to the ground at about 17500 mph... It's at a low altitude and the headwind causes it to slow down and fall. This cannot be stopped. Once shattered by the weapon, the smaller pieces are vaporized much more effectively by the headwind, ensuring nothing reaches the ground.
@TheUniverse101 I don't understand what you mean, though I realize my comment was unclear. I said "perpendicular" when I should've said "parallel". Wind drag reduces the speed, bringing it down to where there's more wind, in a vicious cycle. It all stems from what an orbit is. If it doesn't make sense, fire up Wikipedia and read about orbits and meteors. Was it alien? I have no information to suggest it was or was not. Even if it turns out it's true, for now it's mere speculation. Always fun.
U.S. wanted to shoot it down to test the effectiveness of their missiles out of the atmosphere. u never know when were guna have to blow the shit out of space invaders
I don't think there actually is an explosion. The missile doesn't have a bomb on it. It's a "kinetic penetrator". The plume is debris. It hits the sat with some tremendous speed that it shatters like a wineglass. There's a gas plume too, from fuel and volatiles.
The explosion occured due to the warhead's Lightweight Exo-Atmospheric Projectile igniting. Chemical reactions do not need oxygen to occur. Only combustion needs oxygen. Can you people please google things before talking? It makes me less angry.
I think video of this from outer space would be spectaculer. Perhaps color would have been an option with enough apature. We spent Billions, why not have good fireworks out of it.
The REAL reason they did it is to set the stage for an excuse later when we use our in-orbit projectile guns to shot down enemy satellites. We can just pretend like the enemy's satellite was damaged by space debris. We can shot a projectile out (perhaps with minimal manuverability) into an orbit that eventually circles around and collides with a sat. I just made that up, but sounds like a good (bad) idea.
sorry i didnt get that last comment from someguysomeplace, do you mean "Pfffart, hazardous gas from my ass" or did you mean "Pffflease gas my ass" (with a similar missile i suppose)
Pffft. Hazardous gas my ass. They just wanted to make sure the secret technological goodies and the data it collected didn't end up in someone else's hands. Maybe next time they'll turn it on to make sure it works before they put it up in space.
...and very low density. Would you learn something about hydrazine, by the way? Then you would know why half a ton of hydrazine dispersed 100 km up over hundred of kilometers is harmless.
The corrupt war mongers of the USA never miss a chance to show how good their weapons are. Apparently this was not necessary. Why not show how serious they are about the climate and energy disasters. But no, there is more and quicker money in wars. Fools.
The US should never miss a chance to demonstrate there power. It's the only way it can brush off losers that only want to suck our blood because they can do anything good by themselves. Climate disaster? What a joke! Energy disaster? Only because of the stupid environmentalists. We could be pumping more oil from Alaska the golf of Mexico and the west coast; enough to supply our needs. War is a net loss of capital, there is no money to be made. Fool!
Who cares the net loss? As long as the war mongering corrupt corporations make a quick buck. The real blood suckers and predators. They hijacked the USA and turned it into a puppet show. The real patriots know who the real enemy is. The corrupt rich bully behind the curtain.

Yes, the satellite never became operational due to some sort of defect. They destroyed it keep the hydrosine from affecting anyone if it were to have crashed in a populated area.

Very cool to see an explosion in vacuum. Not at all like they portray 'em in the movies. No fireball, just more of a splash.

how was the video taken? It's almost like the camera is on another missile until it clears the atmosphere and you switch to another one.
