i agree with all the comments made but lets also remember that Whitney is a cigarette smoker as well. no to mention alcohol. the declination was a gradual thing. i just wish to god that she would have gotten a grip then before it got to the point of no return. i do believe that she can come back just not in the saprano she once was. if u notice the transition to her lower register on the new album I look to U. the same way i felt about michael i just wish she had taken bettr care of her voice.

I remember when Whitney couldn't sing. I mean she had the potential, everyone does when their starting out. She appeared on Will Smith's comedy show back in the day and she sound horrible. After that she went to school to learn to control her vocals and "oh man what a job they did. Girl can sing her As......off now. I hope she realizes what gift God gave her.

And she herself mentioned that she took training in her liner notes on her one of her CDs. Don't take it personal, just stating a fact. The girl is good, there's no question! @poprhythms84 the voice decline you are talking about was only due to a lack of training. after the bodyguard she was more focused on doing movies (and drugs) than training her voice properly. but if you take a look at the concert she did in Tokyo in 1997 you will hear that her voice sounds even higher than the bodyguard era but with the same power. there was no real decline in her singing until 1999 when she started to use bad techniques in her belting. but the power and range were still there

She is sweating but doesn't everyone when they work like that on stage? as for the drugs they weren't the main cause of her vocal loss etc..

@MrCafiero , She smoke coke & laced it with weed so how could that have caused it wholeheartedly? that gets you high she had done that for 10 years straight before anyone even knew so it wasn't the drugs that caused her vocal loss it was strain & vocal nodules the same as any other singer can get if he or she doesn't take care of there voice.

Even if she did use everyday that still doesn't give you the right to just assume she was high she doesn't look high here she is just working her a! off.

There are lots of singers that have been on drugs who have come back with there voices in tact drugs isn't the main factor with whitney houston !! i don't know what she did but after 2004 her voice started to fade.

@MrCafiero , I would call that getting older and i know that she had vocal nodules even then during that time period after the body guard her voice seemed stronger not weaker yet a little lower than it was before.

I agree that the drugs might have and a pert in her vocal lost just not the full cause because if that was true she would have lost it long before !! i have no opinion and thats my fact.

I am also a singer and i have yet to see drugs alone ruin a persons voice all together.

@MrCafiero , She managed to hide that from all of us for over 10 years before any of us even knew she was on drugs !!! we knew that her being with bobby was bad but as for drugs no one had a clue her voice was perfect through 92-2000 it was after that , that she started to appear skinny and using i remember when i first saw her on that Micheal j. tribute i was shocked. For that reason I think vocal nodules had a big part in the vocal lost her not taking care of her gift not DRUGS.

I love the way that she starts each show with delicately coiffured hair. Halfway into the first song she loses herself and ends up looking like she stuck her hand in the plug socket! Says it all for me about Whitney. It's all about the song. She's got model looks but boy can she blow!
