The real questions are: What network of early congregations copied the scriptures by hand and distributed them? What happened to that network of congregations? What did that network of congregations believe BEFORE they had the NT completed, copied, and distributed? Where is the first record of the list of the books of the Bible? How did they judge whether a letter/book was inspired by God? Who decided?

The Temple was destroyed in 70 C.E., according to Josephus. That's 37 years after Yeshua is supposed to have died. If Yeshua's death was the atonement to replace the Temple, why did the Temple's destruction take THIRTY-SEVEN years after his death to happen?

Your "New Testament" canon (that's the list of books that you have in your "New Testament") wasn't agree with until 367 C.E. Before that, every list either added or subtracted books. And yes, some of the added books are still extant and were found in the Codex Sinaiticus.

For one, if we are going to be technical, Psalms are not prophecies, much less messianic prophecies. They're Psalms, often written by a Messiah (David).

Orthodox Jews produced the Septuagint, so of course they acknowledge THAT Septuagint as legit. Unfortunately, the Septuagint has largely been in the custodianship of the Church during the last 2,000 years, so there's no telling what the original looked like.
You might be interested in purchasing "The Dead Sea Scrolls Bible". Sometimes the DSS favor the LXX and sometimes the Masoretic Text.

Apparently you don't understand his point. You hand picked some of his quotes while ignoring other key points in order to create a skewed version of Orthodox dogma. Adding in the "built on taxes" was an interesting twist.
His point was the Church decided what books should go in the Bible in the 4th century. If it was not for 300 million led astray, you would have no Bible. If the Church is built on Scripture alone, then you are forced to believe that the Church was founded in the 4th century.
I think you've misunderstood what he was saying. From a historical perspective, none of the gospels were actually written by the figures attributed to them with the exception of Luke which we believe also wrote the Acts of the Apostles. The 'John' who supposedly wrote the Gospel of John was definitely not the same John that wrote Revelations, if the Apostle was the one who wrote John's gospel in the first place.
Furthermore, the Church survived WITHOUT a canonized scripture for 4 centuries after which they were finally canonized based on their relevance to the faith as it was held during the time preceding canonization. What's more, the synoptic gospels (Matt, Mark and Luke) are said to be works based on Mark's original work - Yes, that's right, MATT USED MARK'S GOSPEL AS A TEMPLATE FOR HIS OWN!! Matt the gospel writer is NOT the Apostle Matthew.

I think Luke needs a little more credit. He is partially responsible (if not fully) for helping expose Paul as Saul and a false apostle through allegorical interpretation.

Any Rabbi (and Christians believe Yeshua to have been a Rabbi) in that day looked for faithful disciples who would faithful transmit and hand-down his teachings. The church has no authority over YHWH and you don't throw out YHWH's Word because the church decides and dictates what is acceptable and what is not acceptable. No the Orthodox Church wrote and put together the Bible, look at history yourself. It took many hundred years to assemble together and there were many arguments on what should be included. And you keep on stating that the Orthodox Church has led its people astray yet never explain how it does. I guess your presumptions will do as an explanation. Our Church has passed down the faith of Jesus Christ through the centuries through apostolic succession and as such is preserving the faith.

The scriptures are not the foundation of the Christian life, but the church is. The bible says as much lol. The bible points outside itself. When one sins, Jesus says to take them to the church, not to the scriptures. Also, you logic is not that strong. At least read some of the basic arguments against Orthodox, or even Roman Catholicism to get a better grasp on at least some better arguments.

The church is built upon the teachings of Jesus Christ, as passed through TRADITION through the apostles. Most of the world didn't read 2000 years ago, Bibles weren't in print until the 1500's. You can try to pass off the Orthodox church, the oldest and longest standing Christian church in the history of the world, by simply replying to a youtube videos with witty comebacks, but the reality is that it's much bigger than that and is pointing the same direction you are - to Christ's teachings.

I was attacked by a guy who was trying to tell me that droves of evangelical Christians are converting to the Orthodox church and that only through their hierarchy can one be saved, etc. I told him the same thing I tell Mormons, JW's, Catholics and the Apostolic faith churches, that being that salvation is not by or through men, and it never has been. Not once with you EVER find any apostle of Jesus claiming that we need them to be saved. They always pointed to Jesus alone & faith in Him

I'm rather confused. No where in the video did you show how 300 million Othodox Christians were lead astray. Historically, what you have to keep in mind is, the Apostels Church (which split and became Catholic and Orthodox) didn't have a Bible per-se for almost 300 years....yet the Church still taught people. So the Bishop is correct to a degree...the Orthodox Church is not built on scripture.

The real questions are: What network of early congregations copied the scriptures by hand and distributed them? What happened to that network of congregations? What did that network of congregations believe BEFORE they had the NT completed, copied, and distributed? Where is the first record of the list of the books of the Bible? How did they judge whether a letter/book was inspired by God? Who decided?

The Temple was destroyed in 70 C.E., according to Josephus. That's 37 years after Yeshua is supposed to have died. If Yeshua's death was the atonement to replace the Temple, why did the Temple's destruction take THIRTY-SEVEN years after his death to happen?

You've obviously not read these books in context.
For one, if we are going to be technical, Psalms are not prophecies, much less messianic prophecies. They're Psalms, often written by a Messiah (David).

i mean i could rattle of scripture verses all day but it all comes down to weather you really look at the tanakhs prophcies the Messiah and how many of those prophices jesus fulfilled and how many that have yet to be fulfilled...the temple being one of them. do orthodox jews acknowledge septuagint as legit or is it just straight up tankh?

Orthodox Jews produced the Septuagint, so of course they acknowledge THAT Septuagint as legit. Unfortunately, the Septuagint has largely been in the custodianship of the Church during the last 2,000 years, so there's no telling what the original looked like.
You might be interested in purchasing "The Dead Sea Scrolls Bible". Sometimes the DSS favor the LXX and sometimes the Masoretic Text.

haha....no the tradtion was passed down through people and oral tradtions. Eusebius just wrote what happend to the church not how to run the church and besides no one man makes desions for the whole church thats why we have eccumenical councils. the new testament is accounts of the life of jesus and also after jesus died. the whole new testament was writen 30-50 years after jesus died so..... why is the new testament false.

Either the Messiah is the atonament, or you are dead in your sins.

the scriptures were created from the oral tradtions of the church ( the body of christ) . the orthodox church is the contiuity of the apostolic church. so it pre dates the bible ( by bible i mean a orginized cannon of scriptures into one book), before the words were even wrote down. the orthodox church places great importance on scripture as well as holy tradition passed on to them by the apostles and early church fathers who worked under the apostles.

Apparently you don't understand his point. You hand picked some of his quotes while ignoring other key points in order to create a skewed version of Orthodox dogma. Adding in the "built on taxes" was an interesting twist.
His point was the Church decided what books should go in the Bible in the 4th century. If it was not for 300 million led astray, you would have no Bible. If the Church is built on Scripture alone, then you are forced to believe that the Church was founded in the 4th century.

I think you've misunderstood what he was saying. From a historical perspective, none of the gospels were actually written by the figures attributed to them with the exception of Luke which we believe also wrote the Acts of the Apostles. The 'John' who supposedly wrote the Gospel of John was definitely not the same John that wrote Revelations, if the Apostle was the one who wrote John's gospel in the first place.

Furthermore, the Church survived WITHOUT a canonized scripture for 4 centuries after which they were finally canonized based on their relevance to the faith as it was held during the time preceding canonization. What's more, the synoptic gospels (Matt, Mark and Luke) are said to be works based on Mark's original work - Yes, that's right, MATT USED MARK'S GOSPEL AS A TEMPLATE FOR HIS OWN!! Matt the gospel writer is NOT the Apostle Matthew.

I think Luke needs a little more credit. He is partially responsible (if not fully) for helping expose Paul as Saul and a false apostle through allegorical interpretation.
He also points out to what Jesus truly was, a Nazarene. Anywhere else it says "Jesus of Nazareth."
But Luke:
Acts 24:5 "We have found this man to be a troublemaker, stirring up riots among the Jews all over the world. He is a ringleader of the Nazarene sect."
Some research should be done on the Nazarenes.

Yes,a book of lessons,and history,as man saw it. Not the word of 'god'. Just like any other book,people take from it what they interpret it to mean. Anything can be used for good or bad,including religions and their 'books'. It can be used as a teaching tool,but it can also be used for other things,and it is. Being good should come naturally,you don't need a book or religion to tell you that.

Yes, Fyrstikken, you made an EXCELLENT point! Any Rabbi (and Christians believe Yeshua to have been a Rabbi) in that day looked for faithful disciples who would faithful transmit and hand-down his teachings. You can see this very clearly in the Mishnah, the Jewish halachic discussions of which Yeshua would have been familiar.
Paul did not hear his teachings while he was alive! (Unless you believe he got them from his resurrected mouth.)
