I fished second meadow last summer. Check out my video on YouTube "Trout Media - Big Sky" the Slough Creek section is at 4:00 and on. I submitted a backcountry permit for 2s4 or 2s6 for this summer. Question...how long was the hike to 2s6? When did the park notify you that your permit was accepted? I read they don't process permits until April...but was wondering when they actually send out notices to those who are lucky enough to get drawn. Thanks.
Nice video guys! I've been fishing Upper Slough for about 15 years and love that place. Take comfort in not seeing any Griz (they were there) - but seeing a MOOSE as moose are rarer than Griz these days in YNP. Just think, right now in late February w/ good snowpack, that place is BURIED in snow.
Love all your comments. You can hike back and forth to first meadow in one day, should take at least 3 days for the first and second meadow hike. For all three meadows at least a week to not be hassle. I stayed with my step dad for ten days and ate nothing but fish and dehydrated food and we were in heaven.
Great post guys. What a memory! I was just in Yellowstone a couple weeks ago with my brother. We got hooked on Soda Butte and never made the hike into Slough. Looks like we missed out big time. I will be back. Great video & music.
Great video....thinking about going up there with some buddies next summer....what time of the year were you up there and what is the name of the second song on the silde show?
I love backpacking and fly fishing Yellowstone! Your vid really captures the feeling of "being out there" w/good friends and good fishing! 5 star "favorite"! Thanks for the post - trouttrek -
Awsome video! I went to yellowstone last year, but it was right in the middle of when they were spawning, so we couldnt fish!:( I need to get back up there one of these summers. Spectac. vid and
man u guys were in some beautiful water. my cousins and i made it the 2nd meadow last year but you really do have to camp out there to make it worth your while. that upper slough looks sweet... did you see any grizzlies or wolves? great video... it brought back some really good memories. those yellowstone cuts sure are a pretty fish!
They certainly are! It was a memorable trip, and I hope to get back. I thought for sure we'd see a Grizz, especially in the upper slough section, we had to traverse some real thick stuff getting out of that canyon. But we ALL saw plenty of hefty yellowstone cutts up close! Glad you enjoyed, thanks for the comments!
