This is trying too hard to be trendy for the sub-mainstream for it's own good.
It's not that I can't appreciate the idea of a larger and more organic score being compressed into one where there are only a handful of waveforms being used as instruments, but there's a reason why Pink Floyd didn't opt for making this album on a MiniMoog or something...
It actually insults me quite a bit. Yes, I'm going to stop watching and yes I was expecting better. Sorry. Not every video I watch is a winner.
@radicalgarbage02 Could you be any more jaded? I'm such a Pink Floyd fan that it borders on mental illness, but I absolutely approve of this. Don't be such a downer.
@Lunarvx22 "I'm such a Pink Floyd fan that it borders on mental illness"
Yeah that's why you approve of this. Your ears have been bought by pop-culture. It's ok. There are many like you. Just remember that some people actually give a damn about music and have taste.
@radicalgarbage02 I'm not sure I can tell what you're getting at. Are you a Pink Floyd fan who thinks this is destroying the purity of the original music? It's just a tribute, man. This doesn't even begin to compare to the original, but it's a worthy tribute that I enjoyed listening to. You don't sound to me like somebody who "gives a damn about music and has taste", you sound like a music snob.
@radicalgarbage02 And you sound like you're running out of arguments and now you're just grasping. I found this just by surfing youtube, listening to Pink Floyd. I'm sorry you can't just enjoy music for what it is, be it technical, emotional or poetic quality.
@Lunarvx22 Dammit this has no musical value. It's just an exercise in re-representation. Simply remaking a song has no value. I despise unoriginality and you should too. It's trendy at best. This is why I say you have no soul. Your taste in music is shallow.
Calling this music is like calling a re-gifted present new. Original chip-tune compositions are real music, but this is counter-culture just for the sake of it and it is absolute trash.
@radicalgarbage02 I get your point, but I think you're missing the idea of this. Your assumption is that the "creator" of this only did so because he was trying to be trendy. I don't think that's true, at least I would hope it's not true. It's a gimmick, but it took skill to recreate this. Maybe not -musical- skill, but it took technical skill, not just any person could make this. It's a work of talent, even if it's "unoriginal". (cont....)
@radicalgarbage02 Sanakao is obviously a chiptune fan and a Pink Floyd fan as well. He was only combining two of his favorite musical entities into one, not to be "trendy" but as an act of love for the music. He didn't run the originals through a machine which spat out low-fi versions of Dark Side of the Moon, he had to manually rewrite the songs. Nobody does that just for the sake of it, they do it because they truly love the music. I don't believe this devalues the original in any way.
@Lunarvx22 Hard work doesn't always equal good music. Yes I'm very aware of the labor intensity involved in painstakingly choosing a waveform that matches the character of each instrument and then modifying the score so that it sounds correct.
But, it's the sudden sub-mainstream interest in chip-tune music in the 2000's that gave rise to projects like this. This isn't thoughtful enough to merit the praise it gets. It's over-rated and borders on being pretentious.
@radicalgarbage02 dude who gives a fuck? its just a song maybe not the best but its funny. music is just APART of life and there are many other things to do other then bitch at a person you dont know over a song which doesnt matter what you say cuz people are still going to listen to this because its over the internet... now shut the fuck up and click to the original song and bitch on there like fuck man why are you even here if you dont like it. save your bitching for another video

@NecroParade Ask anyone who is older than 25-30 or so these days what "real music" is and they will define it similarly.
The lyrics of the original music castigate imitative shit like this and tell cautionary tales of a soul-less future. If you like this shit, you are that future. You are listening to this for the novelty of false subculture. Just fucking admit it. Do us all a favor, pick up and any instrument you like and don't suck.
@radicalgarbage02 Have you ever done something simply because you enjoyed it? Not trying to find its cultural significance, not giving it a critical analysis, not trying to fit in with the "sophisticated" crowd, but instead, doing it because you liked it? It's that part of you that makes you tap your foot even when you hear shitty pop, the part of you that makes you laugh just because a sound is funny. And yet, it's the same part that lets you actually enjoy art.
@radicalgarbage02 That part is in everyone. How much do you really enjoy something only because it makes you think? Sure, that's a great feature for anything to have, but why not relax from time to time? Classical music, for example, is enjoyable because of mere sounds. It induces emotion from noise, and people like it. A painting of a landscape is pleasant. Not thought provoking, just pleasant to look at. Let go and let your senses take over once in a while. Also, if it seems like I tried to insult you at some point, that wasn't my intention. But if you're going to call someone an asswipe, try delivering fewer insults beforehand.
