@richpin06a love your videos and as a first time owner of a 98 sl2 they have been a big help. One problem i have that maybe you could shed some light on, is my fuel gauge works and low fuel light lights when the car is started but the light will never come on when i am actually low on fuel, any ideas
@masterbatingpenguin As they get old the low fuel light will not come on anymore like my 98 did till i fix it.I made a video on the fix called " Gas Gauge Reads Too Low "
gotta question for you.. i have somewhat of the same problem but my gas gauge.. when i put gas in .. in like a week it is low..and it reads that i have low gas..i mean i will fill it up.. and its gone in a wk... and when it is on E..or low when i start to drive the car.. it goes back up..?? any help?
@richpin06a the one time i put in like $20 worth of gas and i dont know the mileage(not good with cars) but i know that was and had to be filled up ..but within a wk it was down to almost E.. so i dont fill it all the way up anymore..there's no point.
Hi thanks for making the video. Can I do this test for my gauge the same way on a 88 mustang? And actually my symptoms are a little different. My gauge stays all the way past full when I put like ten or more dollars of gas in the gas tank. Then after I have just about rode the gas out I'll know because the gas gauge will start creeping it's way back to E. The needle will slowly move from FULL all the way to E within around 15 miles. Can u help me?
I have a Saturn question... I have a 97 SL2 on which the remote trunk releases (both on the fob and beside the driver's seat) have stopped working. I have to open the trunk with the key. With the trunk open, if I press the button on the fob, I hear a slight clicking sound near the right rear wheel well. Any ideas as to what might be wrong?
Thanks for all of the Saturn repair videos! They have been most helpful.
Another very practical demo. Do you get these from diagnostic algorithms from a dealer's shop? I find these intriguing from a theory perspective, which takes a little backward engineering from you videos. But it's cool to just know how it's practically done in the real world.
Quick question- you said the 100ohm resister duplicates roughly 1/2 tank of gas.
So, you are saying that will be the reading on anyones(roughly) car from that set up no matter how much gas is actually in the car - assuming the Wiring and the gauge are working properly?
I know this is a little off topic for this video, but I'm always impressed with how clean the vehicles are that you work on. Almost every surface is spotless. You must have a very disciplined cleaning schedule, very much unlike myself.
Thanks again Rich! You've saved my arse more than once buddy! Haven't had this problem but, I just did the egr valve cleaning after watching your vid about that and it worked like a charm. Again, thanks a million for doing these!
Was the jumper to the gray wires to power the fuel pump? Just wondering why you couldn’t just have the ignition ‘on’ to make the gauge read, instead of running the car. The other test would be to measure resistance on the fuel level sender side to confirm that’s the problem. You are becoming a Saturn expert!

@106YeahYeah I can not tell you if it will on your golf.

@Blokheadz How much gas are you putting in and how much mileage out of the gas are you getting.

I was wondering if you know whether or not the digital mileage has a bulb behind it or if itd the unit itself that makes it light up?
rodger14s 1 month ago
@rodger14s There is a bulb just for the digital odometer that can be got to when the cluster is removed. It is in a black plastic insert on the back.

@MrJefffoley Sounds to me like a possible problem with the unit in the tank.

@jly8852 I suspect there is something wrong with the release solenoid or latch.

@smazz104 Yes that is right.

How did you determine what size resistor to use? I guess what I'm asking is how would you figure out what to use for another car?
tookimonster333 6 months ago
@tookimonster333 You would have to have a factory service manual.
