Those McLaren seasons were horrible...they totally messed their MP4-18 2003 season which they never used and updated the 2002 car instead...then the 2004 and 2005 cars were not that bad but broke down all the time... terribly bad luck.
@michael14561 Why because the car didn't disintegrate? he was spinning at a considerable speed and cam to almost a dead stop when he hit the wall if you knew anything about the energy traveling through the car when this happens you'd understand that it's a solid wreck.
@esukem You are right, in the middle of the Schumaher dominance, in his 2 season in F1, his first with McLaren he took the title battle to the last day and almost won (2 points the difference). If he had less bad luck he was gonna beat Schumaher when he was the strongest! And 2005 is a real pain i can't even speak of it. 7 victories and would have had some more and more podiums if not for THE UNBELIEVABLE BAD LUCK!
@cyanidesusie....Hi and thank yo for the answer. I ask because according to the european press release after this accident during testing, Kimi that is known to be an ocacionay drinker was under alcohol influence in this test.
ze murph u 4 get all pens hamilton had n massa fked malasia by himself spa lewis had taken off him singerpore was inevatble n hungary lewis had a puncture so yeh he was lucky NOT!!!!!!1
It was at Nurburgring in 2005. Kimi led until 1 or 2 laps remained, then something in broke in the car's rear suspension causing it to spin off. Kimi didn't get hurt at all, he was just disappointed.
If this happened in 95 or something, when drivers didn't have anything to protect their neck, Kimi would have probably broken something, this kinda reminds me of Häkkinen's crash in Adelaide 95 but Räikkönen was way more lucky.
A finnish driver shouldnt been alloved to drive for McLaren :D Häkkinen had the most luck of them all... he actually became world champion in it 2 times.. Kovalainen.. well he just have bad luck with the tires and motor holding together.. and Räikkönen is the worst of them all... if it wasent the motor that exploded then the car just fell apart :D
why is everyone badmouthing mclaren? i know they were terrible for reliability in the early part of this decade, but they are the best now. ferrari's drivers are too erratic, and BMW sauber aren't fast enough. this is a catastrophic failure of the left rear suspension.
He lost the title to Alonso all due to BAD LUCK, the Mclaren was the fastest but the least reliable. If his luck was better he was gonna have 2 or 3 titles so far
I wouldn't call it bad luck when he blew his engine all the time. The engine was very unreliable but that was McLaren and Merecedes who messed up big time. I can't believe that they didn't do anything to trade performance for reliability after it had already happened a few times. It was just ridiculous when Kimi had a 30 second lead after less than half the race and he blew his engine. Kimi could've won with a much slower car than the one he had if it only had been reliable.
Kimi has never blamed McLaren for anything despite 2 potential championships gone for 03 and 05, as for Hamilton owning Kimi in a Ferrari, better luck this year, but scoring no points in the last race and 4 in Malaysia certain doesnt scream OWNING especially when he's behind Heidfeld in the drivers table.
no, but you are right, in the european gp he crashed out due to the breaking of his suspension near his front right tyre because he was trying to take villenuve into turn 1 but was on the brakes too hard and hit some bumps but by the time he took his foot of the brakes, the damage was already done. probably the biggest loss of his life, but kimi 2007 champ!!
well, maybe, but they actually had to take lewis to the hospital, so i guess it was a bit different, but yes, it was extremely bad, his worst.. of alot, and most of them are from the car, not personal mistakes
Those McLaren seasons were horrible...they totally messed their MP4-18 2003 season which they never used and updated the 2002 car instead...then the 2004 and 2005 cars were not that bad but broke down all the time... terribly bad luck.

@Pablito1512 The crash was because the rear tyre failed causing him to spin, no driver error

If you build a car it must not only go fast, but either be reliable. Renault build that car and is well deserved world champion.
