first of all "stabbing" with the bit and "jabbing" with the spurs are not exactly correct terms and your making it sound more harsh than it is. if you did see someone using unrelenting techniques then they are either doing it wrong or schooling. these horses are collected, they are not in pain. collecting a horse gives them balance, strenght and energy to do their tasks. an uncollected horse will hollow out its back and stick its head in the air which is uncomfortable for both parties
We have cars now. What's with these fags. With them fucked up baby rapping hats that they call a cow bo6 hat. Your not a fucking cow boy get over it and country music is a joke they don't even write there own music they just put there pretty little faces on it so it sells to dip Shits like you. You being the ass who buys in to this shit.
@lowendassassin Jealous much? Just because what we do is actual work and difficult to do, doesn't make it "fucked up". Know what I think is fucked up? Your language and lack of respect for something you sure as hell wouldn't be able to do within even a year. Give me a car and I'll drive it. Horses? I'm still learning how to do it as well as these guys, and I've been riding most of my life.
These horses are amazingly cooperative imagine how much they have to trust their owners for this? Thats what I love about a rider horse bond. This one of those great examples.
@AgnethaPatrull Low head set shows they are relaxed and doing their jobs, also how they are trained to hold their heads. And when a horses ears are half back that means they are listening or focusing on their rider.
@AgnethaPatrull Obviously in the heat of a competition they aren't gonna be bucking and playing. But none of these horses are unhappy, they know the're in a competition and are focusing intently. "All Quarterhorses" is incredibly generalized and incorrect.
@animalLuverify A time ago I rode a western trained horse. At this time I was at the beginner lvl. and I've searched for a new stable. and this women offered me to teach me how to ride such a horse. The first thing I've learned there was to ride without saddle and with the loose reins. But when you have never cantered a horse and now you should canter without a saddle. ouch. But the horse stops every time I've fallen down. But then I've found a really good english stable. And I left.

round and round and round they go, where they stop...no one knows! I love to watch reining, most of these horses are so soft on the mouth, and they move like *snap* <-that
@GreenBayBreyerFarm well people who do reining may not get the point of making videos of plastic toy horses like you do....
Reining horses are highly skilled and it is like any other equestrian discipline, people do it cos its fun, you could equally say whats the point of dressage or showing where you ride in circles? or whats the point of making a horse jump? its fun and they are all amazing to watch in their own right.
just cos you dont choose to do it doesnt mean its stupid and pointless.
@GreenBayBreyerFarm Well I think making videos of plastic animals is kinda pointless but I don't go around insulting it like you do. Reiners have class. Obviously you don't.
@GreenBayBreyerFarm I really don't care how old you are, it doesn't give you a reason to go around saying that reining is stupid and pointless, if you don't like it don't watch it.
@GreenBayBreyerFarm Why would you make a horse jump over fences, why would you want to have them prance around and carry you in a cart....why would you want to get on their backs to begin with. You can't judge the sport unless you have ridden and shown in it.
@GreenBayBreyerFarm ...the fact you can actualy teach your horse to spin in a circle shows that you have trained it to an exceptional degree, it it the proof that horses are incredibly inteligent animals which can be trained to do practicaly anything just like a dog in agility. horse raining is not just fun it trains the horse to be able to do a JOB and many of them still do! so this not always for fun or points in a show but because it is necessary on the ranch! so why not have some fun as wel
@GreenBayBreyerFarm Because if a horse can do that, then you can be positive that horse is light enough on its feet to help you chase down and keep with with the quick direction changes of a run away steer.
@GreenBayBreyerFarm I use to think like that too. My old trainer would always say stuff like "Stacey Westfall is not that great" and "It take 6 weeks to teach a reining horse to spin in a circle compared to a dressage horse which takes roughly 6 years to teach them how to prance and spin because it requires more muscles.....babababbabaabaababab."
Long story short, I don't ride at her barn anymore. She was not even a western rider so I don't know where she got that kind of information from.
I've been researching reining, and watching a lot of it, and now I understand that it's a gorgeous western sport. That was a year ago, I thought the whole point was just spinning in circles. I'm actually involved in reining now, so... yeah.
I am buying my first reining prospect. I rode english for many years but too many injuries has limited my riding to western. Not that I am complaining. I rode western as a kid.
And all of the "this is cruel and horses get hurt people" people, do you complain about football too cause players get hurt? They are athletes and at this level of competition these horses are treated like royalty. Why in the name of pete would you abuse a horse that can win you millions on the curciut???????
@0purple0oranges0 I agree. Out int he pasture, horse romp around and do this with out human telling them how to. They must enjoy this sport, but DEFINITELY not rodeo.
if you look at it this way...horses are athletes...like how some people like to run and horses like to gallop and slide..anyone can get hurt if you are not careful...its the name of the game
It also bothers me. People must realize these horses also have feelings, and feel pain. So Iam with you on this. These horses are fantastic, but also should be treated with respect.
@BabyBirdWispers have you seen how they are trained to do a slide stop...its all using there natural movment...like when there out in the feild and run out of fence. i have i do reining and my horse will spin and slide stop on his own outside, these horses lov the sport just as much as we do
my horse epic fails at the slow circles lol once we were doing a reining pattern where you run down the center and stop, but she thought it was time for barrels and decided to full out gallop down and then not stop..lol Andrea Fapanni is probably one of my favorite reining trainers:)
@Lytshi1992 its rally fun but kinda scary. The run downs and stops are the most exciting/scary because if you don't sit deep and throw your legs forward at the right time you get air time.
@Lytshi1992 Western is really fun. Espicaly pleasure an dloping really fast on a flat stretch. To me the wstern saddle is alot more comfortable and i feel alot more safer in the western saddle. I really hope that you can try western someday! One tip, if you are riding a horse that is alerady on a westen horse, hold the reins looser then you would then riding english.
Am liebsten mag ich das gunner Pferd...mein Pferd kommt auch von Gunner!^^ ich liebe diese Pferde...und das Lied ist auch echt geil passt sau gut...:)
I'm not a reiner or anything like that I barrel race and stuff but I was just wondering if when the horse does the sit spin is it ''legal'' for them to pick there back feet up instead of pivot on one and stay there? I was just wondering ..

omg!! Im going to see reiners compete to qualify for the olympics next weekend for the Clayton Woosley show. I get to see Shawn Flarida, Stacey Westfall, and tons more. Im sooo excitedd
my horse is in reining training and he loves it I agree quarter horses are bred to do more of this type of stuff and it is much more fun then boring things like western pleasure
quarter horses were bred for alot of stuff not just reining. mainly western pleasure. they are so pretty but i dont like horses that bowe the neck up in western pleasure and reining.
If anybody wants a pro. video done... I do them i dont have any examples up yet... but i will. I do all sorts of them from my horses fooling around to for sale videos to nature videos... I do anything and the great part is that they are customized by you! I am having an opening SALE sooo let me know...!!!

You don't stab with the bit and jab with the spur.
You hold with the bit and squeeze with the spur.
Any video you've seen featuring jerking and spurring was shot by the ignorant and is featuring a wannabe.
The horses in this video have never experienced anything that remotely resembles stabbing, jabbing, jerking or spurring.

I liked the video, and LOVED the riding. =)
If you don't mind me asking where do you get all your clips? I'm really needing some reining (and other western sports) clips for a video...

this is exactly the event Quarter horses where breed for,as are all of your stock breeds. However if breed right they can do jumping and hunseat too.

my horse is in reining training and he loves it I agree quarter horses are bred to do more of this type of stuff and it is much more fun then boring things like western pleasure
horsesandcorgis 2 years ago
this is the olny sport that i like quarter horses doing, perconally i think this stuff is what they were origionally bred for
arabianhorselover4 2 years ago
They were bred to do cutting for the cowboys on the ranches.

quarter horses were bred for alot of stuff not just reining. mainly western pleasure. they are so pretty but i dont like horses that bowe the neck up in western pleasure and reining.
