My favorite song in this (great) album. I've always liked Slayers' slow songs a lot, but it's also nice to ear Slayer trying out new sounds and textures without loosing their identity.
@xXxmetalhead666xx Hehe, those are my favorite Slayer albums too, and when I said "slower songs" I was thinking of songs from those albums in comparison with the previous ones. For example: "Reign in blood" is a great song, one of Slayer's finest, but as an album, I prefer "South of Heaven", whitch is commonly considered to have a "softer" approach. ;-)
@Kyuss9 south is good but not the best and softer approach is like an insult to slayer, the decided to to write a slow song for south because they knew it would fuck everyone up but i dont think the whole record was intended to be that way but it turned out how it did
To be honest, Kerry has written many more songs than Jeff and Tom. But I do understand what u r saying about Jeff being underated.
When Jeff and Tom write songs together, like South of Heaven,World Painted Blood, Reign In Blood, and so many many others, theyare all SLAYER classics! So the got major props for those. But don't get me wrong, Kerry write amazing songs... Skeleton Christ is a fucking masterpiece!!!
everyone in Slayer writes awesome songs, all their songs are awesome without exception, thats why theyre the best band ever for me
and its not just the songs that Tom and Jeff write together, for me all the songs that Jeff writes alone or with Tom or with King are all classic slayer songs, kerry writes awesome songs too, but for me jeffs songs stick out the most
But u have to admit, Death Magnetic was pretty amazing compared to their old stuff. But it came out 2 years ago.
U should check out Testaments latest album The Formation Of Damnation. It;s my favorite of their albums and I've been listening to them since the early 90's.
Hanneman is too underated, he writes more songs than Kerry King, plays just as much solos and i'm sure is just as good. KFK STOP STEALING ALL THE GLORY >:(
@Maxpow33r YOU ARE RIGHT, all SLAYER fans know that Hanneman is better than king, acyually, King is the image of slayer. Both are good, but jeff has more style. King has fall into a repetitive style, that it makes his solos loke predictable, but still good
I don't really care actually... though i can see what you mean... King does get the spotlight. But i think the 3 others get quite a share too. I'm actually thinking of buying a Hanneman Sig. guitar.
But really they all 4 are in SLAYER... can they get any more attention. I don't think they'll complain.
i love Catalyst, Flesh Storm, Cult or Killing Field, songs like that, straighlty punchy lol! But, Jeff's writting is different, right, some genius ideas are born in his head for sure! To me, they are complementary on a Slayer record :)
Annd I didn't see Dave in this interview. The only one I seen him in is the one at the Henry Rollins studio. Where they talk about Christ Illusion and other stuff.
