@CLICKMEYOULOSER The 3rd one really lost it. Shitty design, shitty atmosphere, first it scares you then it just becomes boring as hell . And thats not just words - even HELL in the 3rd one is boring. Weapon redesign didnt do justice aswell. Gameplay was too slow paced for a DooM game. IMO Painkiller (the first one ONLY) is the real DooM's succesor. I respect your opinion though and I know that some people like DooM 3 better. I say those are people who didnt play original DooM back in the day

@ReallyNewAccount Actually I like DOOM 1 the most due to it's engine in the age it was made. Doom 3 had a better atmosphere because it had better graphics. In DOOM 1 it was more of a Run'n'Gun.

@CLICKMEYOULOSER Exactly! Run'n'Gun is exactly what DooM is all about! Not horror-based gameplay, but quick shooting frenzy gameplay. It just was not meant to be realistic or even have a story whatsoever. And the atmosphere is not just about the graphics (which now seem pretty blend for DooM 3) but about the music, the design of the levels a nd monsters. DooM 3 is just gray halls over and over again and mobs spawning right behind you all the time, DooM 1 and 2 had a unique feel to every lvl

Source ports now (Zdoom, Jdoom, etc etc) have made it all the much better while keeping everything original.

I've been wanting to do some more serious map making and Im considering using re-done versions of songs already in doom, so much insipration comes from them.
