Just purchased a new battery and it worked for 10 minutes now it will not turn on again!!!! What a. Piece of crap I paid 750 for this and had it for 3 years such bs
i have this laptop sitting in my room for 2 years, warranty expired... I had the problem occur 2 months after the warranty expired... the service guys told me it will cost me 400$ so i just bought a new laptop - i am not going for dell anymore for sure ... Any ideas what can I do with the laptop ?
had the same problem..... opened the laptop..... removed the fan ... the part where your 3d card is attached jst had to put pressure on it........... used tape to put pressure on it,,,,,, and it worked............not an expert but yaa thats how i fixed my problem.......
I KNOW the way you feel, dude. I had the same fucking problem. The service guy changed my graphic card but after some months this "master piece of shit" didn't even start! So sad... cost me over 1000+
So the same guy changed the motherboard because "that's the real problem".
I'm wondering why those morons built bad products and that's not all, they're still selling and promoting on their webpages!!!
You can thank Dell for sending the majority of their tech support jobs to Asia. They aren't allowed to use free thought on issues there, they have to follow a decision tree 100% of the time, even if they know its wrong.
My XPS M1330 motherboard failed THREE times in the last 12 months. How bad is that? The AC adapter died once. I've found DELL's customer care CRAP in handling chronic problems like this one. I was very pleased with their job the first time it happened but now i think they're USELESS and DECEIVING!
get a replacement mobo from ebay and install the copper mod. you should also get a notebook cooler to just to stay on the safe side. i've done this mod and now my GPU never goes past 75 degrees as opposed to 100 degree before and i doubt it'll fry again. (You should turn off Intel Dynamic Acceleration as well as it increases CPU voltage and causes it to over heat and does not do any good for your GPU.
I have the same problem. Waiting for them to ship the box. Dell XPS warranty service is very responsive in replacing their warrantied item. Make sure you get an extended warranty. I have the Nvidia 8400M, which is notorious for overheating in the M1330. Very Frustrating.
just spoke to dell rep. WHAT THE HECK DO THEY TEACH THESE PEOPLE???????????????? ANYONE HERE KNOWS THE RETURN POLICY ON AN OPEN ITEM THAT IS WITHIN 21 DAYS RETURN PERIOD???????? THANK YOU FOLKS
I just bought a Dell XPS M1330! Is this possible that I might have this problem? I have an Intel Media Graphics Accelerator... Do you think this might happen with mine? How common is this problem?
it seems to be a heat issue, i played extensive games with my xps and it caused my laptop to overheat for a long period of time, plus the Nvidia chip gets really hot easily, I doubt you'll have a problem. If you find that it gets hot really easily, buy a laptop cooler, i bought one a couple of months ago and it seems to have fixed the problem.
Shut the fuck up, I was only replying to your last comment amd I'll write whatever I want here. It's nobody's fault but your own if you can't afford a decent laptop. You poor bitch. I've given money to a few charities so I hope one of them provides you with some canned ham and turkey for Xmas. Have a good one.
Same exact thing happened on my M1210. After about 6 months of their mis-diagnostics and constant bitching on my part they finally sent me an M1330. Pretty funny that they never fixed the problem before they came out with the new model... That's Dell for ya. What scares me is that this machine doesn't have a warranty..
No, this seems to be the typical 8400M/8600M problem. All manufacturers suffer from it. Basically, nVidia completely screwed up and made faulty chips. IIRC, all chips are faulty. Dell shouldn't bitch about it though, in Germany/Europe their service is top notch. You call, they fix. Even if the problem can't be reproduced.
This is a known issue with DELL XPS 1330 an 1530. issue is on the chipset of your motherboard. chipset is having moist. if you will call dell they'll just send you pc to their service center. if purchased that pc within 21 days u can return it and order a new one. if there are 3 major replacement on your pc you can ask for a system exchange. hehehehe... good luck... spread the news!
I called dell, got a tracking number, received a dhl box, took out my hard drive, sent it to dell, they fixed my motherboard the next day, and I received my newly working repaired laptop back the next day. Though they messed up on mine and it ended up taking a week. But you should call dell xps support about the issue.
I too bought a DELL XPS M1330 last october and I'm facing the same problem - vertical lines of red, blue and green on the monitor, Dell replaced my mother board too a few weeks back, but I'm having the same problem now. Please tell me if you've found a solution.
Same problem with my dell xps m1330 too, bought in Oct 2007, problem started in late march 2008 -Dell replaced the mother board but the problem persists - solutions anyone? please...
The same thing is happening to my DELL XPSM1330. I have a video of it posted online. The Nvidia 8400GS cards that come with this particular model are causing huge problems on this model. Check out my video too.
This is a known issue with DELL XPS 1330 an 1530. issue is on the chipset of your motherboard. chipset is having moist inside your pc . if you will call dell they'll just send you a bos and send it their service center. if you purchased that pc within 21 days u can return it and ask for a new laptop. if there are 3 major replacement on your pc you can ask for a system exchange. as long your pc still has a warranty from them. hehehehe... good luck... spread the news!
i called them and they told me that they only replace desktop systems.. not notebook. I just sent mine in for the third time, first for the motherboard, second for the lcd screen, third for the motherboard again!
Yes it was a GPU problem, the GPU is integrated onto the motherboard and that meant replacing the whole motherboard. XPS support is amazingly fast, sent it in on Wednesday night, and got it back the following Monday.
I've got the nvidia 8400 gs dedicated card. Although its still dedicated, it is also soldered onto the motherboard as another chip, so no upgrade is possible unless you buy a new laptop. I did buy this laptop for the reason that it is very light and small so i don't mind a crappy video card on it.
DELL is shit, whats with the music and pretty hand gestures...get to the point

i think you can buy the actual motherboard with the integrated nvidia chipset for about $250 on ebay.

try reinstalling windows vista, and downloading the latest geforce 8400 drvier from dell website ( not from nvidia )

doesn't look like a motherboard problem - or if so, probably on the video connector or a video card problem
A motherboard problem would look different I guess(mine didn't boot when MB was defect)
They repaired it in 2 days though - dell support is amazing...
