  • I JUST LOVE THIS KIND OF MUSIC AND MY WIFE TOO. I WOULD LIKE TO KNOW IF THE SWING GIRLS WILL BE MAKING A TOUR TO THE CALIFORNIA WEST COAST? WHEN WILL THEIR MUSIC BE AVAILABLE ON iTUNES?

  • cool jaming~

  • are - is , to write English is difficult, too

  • Japan's jazz market are very small. Most people are very fond of Japanese style of music like Enka, Anime songs, J-pops or J-rocks. Even jazz singers sing songs like Enka. Crisp fine songs don't seem meet for Japanese tastes. I mean it's very difficult to become a jazz musician in japan.

  • We play this same arrangement. :O

  • Maybe, they become good mothers or be working as nice office girls? (sorry I miss pressed "send" key three times.)

  • But, it was 6 years ago. How they are doing now? My

  • @kobeakashi123 Well they were in high school 6 years ago so I'd assume they're either playing as a pro group or they've went their separate ways.

  • I fell in love with those girls,

  • I am amazed at how well Japanese musicians...especially the

young......, and female..... , players ... appreciate and play American jazz.

  • This just goes to show all of us narrow-minded people out there that true music surpasses both gender and ethnicity; overall, a very nice rendition of a great jazz standard.

  • So good!!! I remember this stuff from my high school days. This is what the orchestra played at the school dances (I graduated in 1944)

  • Epic quartet right there.

  • also i have never seen a trombone section so pro

  • whole band is girls

  • holy crap i have never seen a whole trombone section made of girls.

  • HOW HIGH THE MOON!!!

    GO GO GO!!!!! :)

  • Im just curious how long those girls have been playing trombone?

  • not a better sound then trombones that are played well, and well is what these girls played, TREMENDOUS!

  • As i know that Japanese aint love jazz alot, but these girls did great...love u...good job

  • Great!!

you tube にあがってるいろんなHow High The Moon 聞きましたが、これが一番魅力的でした。Swing感もとっても良くて、活き活きしてますね!

    思わず、ウキウキしてきちゃいます。

  • Nice Girls!

  • I love this song we get to play it in jazz band this year

  • Every Japanese jazz band video I have watched (and there are a lot of them, which is great!), the band is almost entirely girls. Nothing wrong with that, just that it has been the opposite way for forever here in the US.

Question: Why do you think this is true in Japan?

  • Actually, it's because they could be in an all girl's school while the videos you see are in regular all gender schools.

  • Their school is for both genders. But brass band is, in general, regarded as girls play in Japan. Boys are thoroughly interested in Rocks. Only exceptions are military, police, and fire bands.

I am not from their school. But, since no one has responded...

  • Nice trombone improvisations right through the chances ...

  • god. what i love most about this band, the trombones. srsly. it was beautiful

  • beautiful very nice, great solo 2!!

    Keep up the good work!

The BFJO is very inspirational to all Jazz musicians!

    がんばって!

  • Muy bueno!

  • I would suggest taking the peice a little faster, we took it about 180, and watch out for the timing if you take the written solo, and during the solo chorus, try not to let the trumpets overpower. But great sound, and I believe this is the same arrangement we play, great song none the less, and great performance. Also for the background parts, some the falls need to be taken much more seriously. But overall, great performance.

  • japanese high school girls + jazz = win

two of my hobbies rolled into one!

  • Im in a Jazz Band in Arkansas. We play How high the moon too. I play the Trumpet solo in it. As far as the solos I have a suggestio. I would suggest adding some "glisses" to it. I cant spell it. And Changing where you take breaths will add a LOT to it. The solos had weird breath placement. But it was still great and very enjoyable. Keep Jazzin it up.

  • you mean "glissando"?

  • hey im playing lead trombone on this, anyone got any tips?

  • If that was you-keep up the great work-use a lot of air and release only with your tongue-possibly add a little vibrato at the end of long tones. Otherwise you're ready for the studios!!!

  • I love the intro.

Very nice trombone sound. And nice solos also.
