This was so cute, and so are Seth and Summer! But the sad part is you could see in season 4 they lost their sparks and the chemistry was not there because they broke up in real life. There was obvious awkwardness in Seth and Summer scenes. :(

2 biggest mistakes oc made, 1st was getting rid of anna. thought she added so much to the cast and played great scenes with all the characters and it would have been believable if she and seth just stayed friends, they didnt need to drop her

Second was killing off marissa; i am by no means a marissa fan and disliked the character completely seth/summer > ryan/marissa for sure but like her or not she would have kept the series going for at least 2 more seasons, she generated ratings bottom line.

So i think that other ways to make the character disappear like sending her with her dad or to make her leave to another twon would be just wierd and unreliable. i think that killing her is the smartest choice, it's make drama for the show, things change, keeping the show fresh.
