Paul, does this piece concentrates on right hand techniques? It is a very pretty piece, it reminds me of the stop motion movies of flowers budding and then opening.
Rubato is slowing down to help emphasise the melody etc., it's use quite a lot with in classical. You may notice that there is never a steady beat with classical derived compositions.
