RRV* this is not some insipid grenade launcher. This is a 20mm cannon! Firing armour piercing or high explosive incendiary rounds and minute of man accurate to 1000m. It's not light by any definition. Weighs about as much as an LMG, but is nice and compact for deployment ex vehicles, choppers, etc.

Are my eyes tricking me, or does the gun move part of itself backwards to minimize the force on the shooter? Because if it does, that's incredibly novel.

I wonder if someone could enlighten me on the advantages of a 20mm system? Growing up hearing about almost nothing but the American arsenal I'm not sure what advantages come with it over, say, a 40 mike mike aside from lighter weight and the ability to carry more grenades.

Which are good reasons in and of themselves, by the way.

@RRVCrinale Firstly, note that I have updated the tech info site at the beginning of the vid (sorry it is not a direct link). The Neopup 20mm ammo has a very flat trajectory and much shorter flight time than the 40mm.

Someone mentioned the Geneva convention. The 20mm round used in this application is no different to using a hand grenade or rifle grenade or the 40mm.

@m561gamagoat Thank you very much. In light of that, my first hunch about this unique weapon was kinda true: it is a very unique grenade launcher with specific benefits to the niches it fills. You know, a bit less cumbersome than either a rifle grenade or a 40mm and providing much the same functionality.

Well it hits harder than anything not mounted on a vehicle for starters, also I cant think of a better weapon for a clean 1hk past 2000 yards.

And since most light vehicle armor is meant to handle a 50BMG, 20mm's suprise the hell out of most mechanized troops.

Then theres the ability to sabotage bunkers and radio towers, other than that "bigger is better" ask the neighborhood slut. XD

Yes; the gun has an internal displacement system which has two functions:

1) It helps mitigate recoil

2) You can recess the gun into itself, reducing its length by about 4 inches when it is not being used.

Compared to the 40mm grenade the 20mm is 1/3 of the volume, meaning you can carry three time as much ammo for the same weight, but have approx 1.5 times the total lethal area. Also the trajectory is 1/10 as curved as the 40mm, and the flight time is reduced by 2/3.

Yeah, Iiked the fact that the weapon ITSELF also helps reduce recoil. On a man-portable gun, it's quite unheard of. Novel, as you say. Although, if you look at most artillery guns, you'll see the same concept applies. This is ESPECIALLY apparent with the NTW-20, the thing's a friggin' man-cannon!

That's really more of a distinction of role. It's firing a non pistol cartridge through a rifled (actually, I'm not certain on that, the brochure says nothing, it may be smoothbore, but seems unlikely to me) barrel and is meant for personal use, I'd say that qualifies it as a rifle.

this weapon could easly neutralise a unarmoured vehicle and maybe a ligh armoured vehicle . this gun look more accurate than other grenade laucher. it look like the round is using a more straight traveling than regular grenade who are using a almost indirect way.
