What i do because I don't have a seven-string is take the mp3 file and transpose the song up 3 steps in nero (I'm sure another audio program would do it as well), and then I can play it in key while using a regular 6-string. The solo will throw you off though, due to using the higher strings.

Yes it is possible, but you're tuning every string down 3 steps. So it'll be very floppy. Even if you have chunky strings it'll be floppy.

I used to have an ibanez jem7vwh and i can say that 7-stringed edge-pro is much more stable than the 6-stringed edge-pro for staying in tune, but of course because of it, its stiffer. more tension is needed to balance the strings. So it's harder to dive and pull with trem bar. While some people wouldn't prefer it for effecting playability, i rather found it useful after i got used to it.

Nice playing, i try to learn it too but not the whole song cus after the second chorus it gets too weird and too difficult for me. And the tone is not bad but not good either. Ive got an ibanez 7-string too, an prestige 1527 with dimarzios and an ENGL fireball and it sounds moch closer to JP. But nice job!

the tone is terrible. but maybe the guy can't afford mesa/boogie. with all due respect to good talent. shredders have become a dime a dozen. in regard to 64th note runs and arpeggios, after about 30 seconds it gets boring. do a couple to prove you can do it then do some groove and straight forward metal and brake the monotony. a mix between shred, Opeth and fear factory would be cool. and I cant stand james from DT
