There's no pink floyd of our generation, because pink floyd is still very much relevant and will be for a very long time. i wish people looked at music more objectively. radiohead and pink floyd are both original enough to be praised based on their own merits.

hendrix and vaughn and gilmour only played guitar, especially hendrix and vaughn whereas ed and johnny play a lot of instruments so they're not really guitarists but it is their main instrument so you know thats not to say that because the others only play guitar they're not musicians though
You couldent be more wrong dude. David Gilmour can play just as much if not more than jhonny. He is fluent in piano, bass, and drums. and did i mention Gilmour has an amazing voice?

Thom is of course brilliant beyond words musically, but one great thing about this '97 version of Lucky is Thom has the tendency to chronically experiment with his vocal delivery with older songs that probably bore him a bit now, and a lot of the vocals on more modern Lucky performances aren't nearly as focused as this...you could tell this was when he was still feeling the original emotion of the song. The vocals are delivered in that pristine, drawn-out glory of the original. Ace version.
I disagree. Greenwood is underappreciated yes, and he's off the charts innovative...but he gets credit in the right circles...THEE MOST underappreciated guitarist of recent times is Ed OBrien.....because Jonny Greenwood has ENORMOUS stage presence...your eye is drawn to him and therefore people assume he's making all the stunning guitar sounds, meanwhile Ed, who has far less stage presence, is actually making half the sounds misattributed to Greenwood. The band needs both.

I agree with ComradeNu, Ed and Jonny do things on stage that no other well-known "guitarrist" do. Ed plays guitar and makes awesome effects, and Jonny... well he is a monster, can play guitar, keyboard and percussion all on the same song (there there, reckoner, here in lucky). You don't see that in every band...
I loved Lucky for years for its melancholic, ominous, heavily downtrodden tone and then I read Thom saying how he thought Lucky was their happiest song. That threw me a bit, lol. But then, I had never really paid much attention to the lyrics as a whole... *blushes*
Still can't think of it as happy per se... But it's still my fav Radiohead song.
well when he said that he was being a bit ironic, he said something like it was as happy as a Radiohead song gets. The song talks about finding hope in love amidst all this other shit that goes on in the world.
This song is for sure one of the best song Radiohead ever made. Personally when i heard it for first time it made me feel euphoric. Even though we may say that the song remains sad and doesn't sound happy at all. Who could say that Radiohead has many happy songs? I personally don't know any, but still when i listen to York's voice the feeling i get is far from sadness. I get high listening to Radiohead while my friends say that bend sounds depressive.

Ed plays guitar and makes awesome effects, and Jonny... well he is a monster, can play guitar, keyboard and percussion all on the same song (there there, reckoner, here in lucky). You don't see that in every band...

I think of him as a very lucky guy, he has a gift with music.

I loved Lucky for years for its melancholic, ominous, heavily downtrodden tone and then I read Thom saying how he thought Lucky was their happiest song. That threw me a bit, lol. But then, I had never really paid much attention to the lyrics as a whole... *blushes*
Still can't think of it as happy per se... But it's still my fav Radiohead song.

well when he said that he was being a bit ironic, he said something like it was as happy as a Radiohead song gets. The song talks about finding hope in love amidst all this other shit that goes on in the world.

This song is for sure one of the best song Radiohead ever made. Personally when i heard it for first time it made me feel euphoric. Even though we may say that the song remains sad and doesn't sound happy at all. Who could say that Radiohead has many happy songs? I personally don't know any, but still when i listen to York's voice the feeling i get is far from sadness. I get high listening to Radiohead while my friends say that bend sounds depressive.
