i have read that but i dont recall that the person was their elder. But see this is the destruction of taqleed and it lead to attributing a Lie on Eesa pbuh. Even yesterday a deoabandi attributed lies to Hazrat Ali radhi Allahu anho when he was shown Grave worship from Fazail e Sadqaat and people writing letters to the grave of the prophet pbuh and requesting dua from him. When we call such Blind following as Kufr or Shirk then they say "Ghair Muqallids Say Taqleed is Shirk/Kufr".
Indeed brother there is no problem if some 1 agrees with a Faqeeh based on the evidence from Quran and Sunnah. There are minor matters in which the Ummah has disagreed and in such matters we as laymen should choose what we feel is more closer to the Quran and Sunnah.
