  • Wow, that thing has a huge muzzle flash.

  • Nice Targets

  • HA!

  • Quite a flash on that rifle

  • the clips are very funny, you have to learn how to push on them just so or they wont work well.

  • dude you got an acent? wher eu from im guessing Poland?

  • actually sounds like Jersey

  • I just got a m38 all matching serial numbers it's a riot to shoot

  • that fucking guy that sold you the clips, is he the same guy standing down range? 0:30 hahahahaha.

  • ahahaha!

  • Exelent gun!

  • I have a 91/30 looking to get an M38 next month. Love Mosins.

  • I Own an M-38 and I love it. I still want to get an 91 /30 also that would be totally cool

  • *sigh* I want one of those so bad. It would go with my M91/30 Mosin-Nagant perfectly.

  • i'll try to make my onw rifle i'll call it Destroyer

  • This gun is a friggin shoulder-killer. At least mine is.

  • holy fucking hell the russians can make a gun, makes me proud of my grandad and his family, wouldnt want 2 be on the buisness end of that beast

  • THATS A FUCKING FIREWORKS SHOW MAN!! It makes a wicked show compared to my 30.06 hunting rifle. Its all like im a big bad ass battle gun with my recoil and my HUGE muzzle flash lol.

  • Same here man - Great vid, I'm sick of newbie vids where people are sitting with the rifle on a mount and being a bitch about it. This is how I shoot my M38 - 1942. Standing, its how you build strength against the recoil and true accuracy.

  • Thank You :-)

My favorite shooting position is kneeling.

Shooting from the bench is a fucking epidemic in the States...

  • @ok131583 yeah cause you know when on the battlefield they always got the chance to stop and sit behind something to rest their gun on. it was just common courtesy during battle.

  • @ok131583 You're both right. I'm up here in Canada, bipods and bench shootign are a plague. I was taught (by the army) to hold my damn rifle, rest it if Iwant to and it's safe, only because it's more accurate, but still hold and brace it. I prefer Kneeling myself as well.

  • @lastexile666 i only shoot from the bench when i am sighting in and then all the other times its positions.

  • Love this video. I also have an M38 and a video of me shooting it and man its fun.. I wish the sound on my video was as good as yours though.

I picked up some Tikka stripper clips on Ebay and they work great, I'll see if I can put a video up with them

  • Let me know when you get that video up with the Tikka stripper clips. I bought some brand new clips on Ebay made in China and they are fucking horrible ! I can't even get the rounds to budge out of the clips. I was pissed.

  • Nice looking targets.....

  • Looks like a good guide rifle.

  • One of my favourite guns, super accurate and cheap as hell.

  • how cheap

  • i saw one for 80 !!! but mostly like 120 or lower

  • Just got one for $125. Can't wait to blast some hogs with it.

  • yeah

  • and fucking famous !!!

its just WOW if you own this rifle, without it there wouldnt be leningrad anymore !

  • rofl im 13 and when i went to las vegas to visit my cousin he took me and my bro to a gun range and those are the same targets we used..we used and m16 and a glock 19 and nice vid 5/5

  • nice shooting man u handel recoil well!

  • Hi was wondering if you could help me out? I own a couple of Nagants and usinng the bolt is a work out, takes the fun out of firing the gun.The bolts have to be man handled I have cleaned the oiled them with no luck. Watching you shoot your they seem to work grat any ideas on what I can to to make mine user friendly? Would appreciate any advice you could give.

    thanks

    Mark

  • 1. Don't use brass ammo, only copper washed steel shells. No polymer coated either.

    2. Cock your trigger before opening bolt (see my Sniper PU video for details)

    3. Change your bolt to a "sniper" bolt (handle bent down)

    Good Luck!

  • What does that all mean like with the ammo and wear can I order good ammo from I live in FL

  • @ok131583 All 3 are wrong. The only thing you need to do is to make sure that the chamber is VERY clean. Any cosmoline left in the chamber will cause the so called "Sticky bolt" problem.

  • Where did you get the great target? Clips don't work unless they are original Russian :(

  • Jeeeze, the muzzle blast on that thing is like a miniature nuclear explosion, and as loud as one too lol

  • excellent choice of targets LOL+++

  • very nice gun pal

  • If you'd be so kind as to answer a question for me: I noticed a crack at the rear base of the rear sight. It splits down the center of the rear sight ramp where the rivet goes through this area. It's a vertical crack. Is this common with M38 carbines, Mosin Nagants in general, or even rifles dating 1943-1945 OR should I attempt remedy the problem? Thank you in advance.

  • I'd have to look at mine. But last I remember I did not have anything similar to that on either of my Mosins. Nor did I hear anyone having this complaint.

If it does not affect your sight, i.e. if it is not loose, I'd just right it off as a "war scar"

    ;-)

  • Well I've messed around with it a little (not too much though--don't want to make it worse) and I can't see any visible movement. I'd never noticed it before, but I suppose the rivet should hold it together. Thanks for the quick reply and the advice. Greatly appreciated.

  • Nice. The M38 I shoot is a 1943 Izzy with all parts matching except the magazine floor plate. Sadly the barrel was drilled out 1.25 inches from the crown, but I use 1955 Bulgarian and shoot nice groups 50-150 yards. Most of the inaccuracy is due to me still getting used to the trigger pull and the recoil.

  • hehe nice target that fucking bastard osama needs to have all his limbs cut off and then shot in the head.

  • Just got an m38 a few weeks ago, Such a lovely piece of history. Nice vid

  • Do the modern reproduction Mosin-Nagants still produce that beautiful muzzle flash?

  • ???

    What "modern reproductions"?

This one was made in 1943.

USSR stopped making Mosins in the late 40s.

Poland made some in the 50s, China and N.Korea also stopped manufacture of Mosins in the late 50s (when AK factories came on line)...

There are REFURBISHED Mosins though. But they are assembled at arsenals from the old parts.

  • love the fireball!!!heh heh

  • Historical WW2 gun; compared to other guns, like the mauser and lee enfield, this is my favorite. Its very esthetic, its long and accurate, and it really gives you the feeling of having a real gun in your hands. I love the sound.

  • i know man, the strippers just suck, i just take them off the clip!

  • I have a chance to pick up one for $125, what do you think? with good ammo and a scope, can you make a decent deer rifle out of it? Thanks for your help...

  • Part 1

Before you buy it make sure you check the barrel. Most M38 I saw have drilled out barrels (done at the arcenals during re-conditioning). Take a 7.62x54R round and try to fit it through the front end. If it does not fit (w/o force) then GOOD. If round goes in all the way including the neck of the shell, not so good.

  • Part 2

Then it is still a good gun for a deer, but on the paper @ 100yds most you gonna see is 3 MOA. My 91/30 came not drilled out... If you now what you R looking for, you will find it I am sure. As far as ammo, I shoot anything, but prefer 185gr Brown Bear FMJ $6.50 per 20rds.

  • Part 3

As per scope, I would not bother putting one on M38. I just went and bought a 91/30 sniper PU (see in my other video). It looks great, and shoots even better. Cost me $550. Though I had to spend some time on Google and in the library reading up on usage and limitations of PU scope, but in the end I am very happy. I use M38 for practice, and 90/31 for testing myself and showing off before friends.

  • I also have a pair of 91/30 snipers, how do you adjust the scope at 100 yards?

  • can you read Russian? If YES, I will point you towards Soviet Army's Sniper Field Manual :-)

If you can't, tough luck... I'll still try helping you though ;-)

  • I understand a little russian langauge, but would rely mostly upon an online translator.Any help apreciated!!!

  • wud u b able to tell me the difference between a m38 and m44...thanks

  • One biggest difference is that M38 does NOT have permanently attached (folding) bayonet.

  • Yeah, as far as I know the bayonet is the only difference. They're both the carbine versions of the 1891.

  • 125 bucks for such a beauty is a bargain. I wish I lived in your country + state ^^

Lets see...125 bucks would make only about 83 euros!

  • A friend of mine bought 3 for $75.

  • hes not a redneck

  • Every target should have osama bin laden's face on it you asswhole!

  • this isnt a redneck, he is russian, lol.

  • you're a fucking idiot, hippie liberal sack of shit, go fuck a tree

  • this comment was for anukka for saying you were an idiot for shooting an osama target

  • really nice my dag got a Swedish army mauser mdoell m95

  • haha i like osama bin laden on the target LMAO

  • hehe

  • I use Igman (Bosnian ammo) and it works great with my mosin. Accurate and they dont stick like crazy. If you can buy it in your area get a case and try it. Very good hunting ammo as well. Thanks for your video post ok131583

  • I've never used czech ammo, is it really that bad? How's Hungarian ammo? Its corrosive but its mad cheap. 440 rounds for $70.00. i figured i would rather spend more time cleaning and save money on ammo. A box of patches is less than a dollar, but 5 rounds is more.

  • Yeah, I saw Hungarian stuff on cheaperthandirt DOT com but they don't ship ammo to NY. I did not hear anything really bad about it. In any event, on my Russian guns, I prefer to use Russian ammo. I get 50rds of 7.62x54R for $8.99. I think it is still a pretty good deal.

  • Really, your in New York, I am too and i did the live chat with a tech, and he said it could be shipped to new york. Ammo can be shipped, just not into the city but it can pass through the city.

  • I must have confused cheaperthandirt with 3xw DOT sportsmansguide DOT com , that is another good site for ammo, if you have an out of state address that is (ssshhh!). But I get my stuff from 3xw DOT ammo4guns DOT com . I actually drive up there. I bought 3 rifles M38, Sniper 91/30, Yugo-SKS and all ammo from them. I hate waiting for the mail-man.

  • yeah czech ammo is nasty on the bolt

  • The bolt on yours certainly works better than the two we have!

  • That is because I use Russian ammo. Ones I used Chekoslovakian surplus, that was a disaster. Moreover, it was in corrosive casing. I spent 3 hours cleaning the gun after only 20 rounds. And, oh, they were getting stuck like crazy.

  • I've used the cheap shit, which was bad, and I've used Wolf, which isn't any better. What exactly are use using?

  • what kind of russian ammo?

  • I am not sure. My dealer selling them in clear sealed plastic bag of 50rds. They have yellow tip. They look like Mil surplus. I guess he buys bulk, and repackages them.

  • yeah i know what yellow tip ammunition your talking about, ive seen it but i cant remember the name. but yeah ive seen those cardriges before.thx for the info

  • Ammo Update:

That turned out to be Bulgarian surplus. It was made in 1955. When I was sighting in my 91/30-PU-sniper I managed to get a 1MOA groups of 4rds from 100Yds (not all the time though, but I think that was my fault).

PS For anything related to the Mosin-Nagant go to:
