I wonder how much a 1979-1/2 Cadillac Fleetwood Brougham d'Elegance Diesel 4-door would sell for now? Presumably not very much due to the unreliability of said powerplant (the Oldsmobile 5.7 diesel V-8).
Such a lovely ol' Caddy............too bad GM can't make cars quite like this anymore thanks to what those greedy corporatist OPECers and oil barons pulled in '73. >=(
beautiful car. my neighbor has a 77 lincoln continental coupe in a shade slightly darker than this. the battle of the land yachts was so fun to watch in the 70s. thanks to all the tree huggers though, we dont get to enjoy these beautiful works of art anymore.
i have a 75 fleetwood that i bought for the motor, i hate to just scrap the car but im having trouble selling it locally, the sheet metal on the car is suprisingly good and so is the chrome, are people fixing these models up? i personally like my 68 coupe deville better but eh id drive both for sure.
I love cadillac but why is it most of the models with that style tail light always like pops out or something. On this car its in place but it seems everytime I see one from the side you can see gap between chrome of the tail light and the body itself.
@willmill77642 They used a plastic insert between the body and the bumper. Over time it deteriorates from the sun and weather. The plastic dries out and cracks and eventually falls apart. It's a common problem with Cadillacs from this time period.
my dad has this same car thou in black he bought it in irland ing the later 90s we fled from the albanian riots it has the 500ci engine over the years i fixed it up and raised the compresion reinforced the frame and 6 piston breaks and fuel injection dual exhuast the reson for such over kill is becuz it whent form 260 hp to 640 hp .. thay had such huge motors that were detuned to such unbarible power hope to have it in the family for the next genarations! :3
I had a Fleetwood identical to this one for about four years. Same color, interior....everything! It could easily seat 7 people....even 8. It was like driving a living room but expensive at 9 MPG / $3.XXper gallon. I had to sell it because it was ageing. It went to a good home with a garage. I miss that car.
that is a sweet car, i bought a 74 just like this from a auction and it was in an accident, i took the motor out to put in my 68 coupe deville. the rear quarter panel is damaged thats why they wrote it off, i have this car now and i want to get rid of it but i dont want to just scrap it , anyone want it?? haha
Hello, can you tell me please what s the first song's (the spanish) artist and song's title please? It so cool! Thank you very much! Kind regards from Canada
@gene978 That is funny! My neighbor across the street thinks the same thing about me (I'm 24) because I bought a 65 Fleetwood. I do nothing to lead him to believe its not true since it isn't his damn business what I do with my hard earned money. I will say this, I'm no drug dealer.
Beautiful Caddy you have there! Makes me wish I still had my 2 old "boats" that I got rid of a long time ago... I had a 1977 Lincoln Town Car 4 dr back in 1989 and a 1974 Imperial LeBaron 4 dr that I also had in 1991. They sure don't make them this big or comfy anymore. Driving my Town Car was like cruising on a cloud, very relaxing and satisfying to the soul. Take care of your Cadillac my friend.
Your video of this classic Cadillac is pretty damn cool, espically with the music you chose, however, there is one thing you could have done that would have made the video really cool...you should have made some footage from out side of the car of the car riding down the road. These beautiful classics looked their best when they were moving. Video of the car going down the road, perhaps around some corners, would have been spectacular.
nice and big, took a little while for the walk-a-round didnt it, lol, you have to get up and lean across the cabin to change the radio station or turn on the ac, room for ever, floats on air, good vid, cheers!
dads damn tank of a buick electra 225 of 1973 that size with a 455 loved it damn thing took out a honda that illegaly pulled a uturn we just slitely bent the bumper damn guy in hando need a ambulance and a door cut of the car with the jaws of life broken leg on him in four places too i guess he should not have made that turn GOD i love that car dad did get a 77 caddy then a 88 brougham de' elagance man that was nice 307 olds just didn't cut it for power
I drove an '84 Buick Park Ave for a couple years until I got rear-ended and needed a bit of work so I decided to replace it. The one thing I will say is while it's not a particularly fast car, it accelerated the same up hills as it did on flat ground which was enough passing power to get the job done... that and I never had any engine problems, and it doesn't burn any oil to this day.
were thinking of this 79 lincoln i know it not a caddy but just as big for sure and ya i want a big car again its nice and cheap as well so maybe will try for it .
I don't think the Lincolns were quite up to par with Caddy/Buick/Olds both in build and reliability but hey if it's cheap enough, in decent shape and you like it go for it. Still not a bad car...
I drove the '74 CoupeDeVille in the same colour, white leather and white roof for more than 120k miles from 1998 - 2002 on liquid propan (to minimize the driving-costs). I loved it!! Had to sell because of our 2002 born twins.... once I will buy one again, I'm sure about that! The '86 Eldorado I drove the same time was not that comfortable and roomy, but had better craftmanship and a lot of gimmicks- but it looked not that good.
Very Nice Car!!!!!! The Cadillac Brouigham is the Cadillac of Cadillacs!! And 1974 was a Good year for the Brougham. A couple of my favorites are the 1974-1976 and the 1990-1992 Broughams, which marked the end of the big body cadillacs. Thanks for posting this video, -BOGAR!
I remember being at the dealership in '74, buying my Grand Prix (finest car I've ever owned. Way better than my new Lexus). My great aunt and uncle were there to pick up their new Cadillac Fleetwood Eldorado Biarritz. It was soft yellow, inside and out, with the thickest padded top imaginable. That was their last car. That's when American luxury cars were giant pillows on wheels. The word 'luxury' doesn't even come close. Nothing will ever be that good again.
Ahhh, those were the days. 1984, my junior year of h.s. I loved that car. Mine was a '74 black on black Fleetwood Brougham with tan interior. Thanks for posting.
I just sold a "76" Coupe DeVille that I put a 472 c.i. remanufactored "72" motor in. It was a beautiful car. I had a "71" Fleetwood too with 38,000 original miles. My younger friends could not get over the ride comfort. I asked them to note the lack of vibration on the door arm rests at highway speeds. I told them they will never feel that lack of vibration in any other car ever again. Cadillac no longer makes a long distance car. That is truly a shame.
Nice car, I had a 1974 Coupe deVille, I had about 6 Fleetwood Broughams from 1977-1990, I've had 20 Cadillac all together, my next car will be a 1996 Fleetwood Brougham.
Og my GAWD!!! It's dripping with 70s Garishness. If the 70s were NOT one thing when it comes to cars it's refined! I love it. Your grandmother's living room on wheels.
Friends of my parents had one of these in black. It was huge *LOL* I remember the foot rests in the back seat, and if I am not misaken thre were fold down trays on the back of the front seats for people in the back seat. They were part of the school carpool when I was in grammar school and I loved when it was their turn to drive *LOL*
apology which is the name of the song that put the video in which occupies most of the video, I could say the name, and congratulations on the cadi this beautiful I have a Fletwood from 72 ...
well that got me sick you know in a good way i hope you got all the money for that caddy its still a shame to let a car like that go there far and few inbewteen
Nice video - I would suggest the "Cadillac 1974" complimentary 8-track tape as the soundtrack (but see you have the signal seeker w/out tape). Lovely car - but your pinstriping is missing! 1974 Brougham d'Elegance editions shared unique pinstriping with the Talisman models. Your Terra Cotta "Medici" velour interior seems to have survived really well too.
So.. I know that the older cars from late 60's through early 80's by Cadillac are somewhat filled with things that you may or may not need. But have you been in a Mercedes or BMW from today? Same problem. So don't pick on our boats and we won't pick on your "full sized" sedans. Sometimes I wonder if other car companies and even Cadillac now understands the meaning full sized anyways.
cadillacs truly were beautiful cars. but now they look more like ugly space ships than cars. my favorite caddy is a 55 series 62
