Very informative post Terrance. Wish I had taken advantage of WTC when I had the chance. It is now 'suspended' till further notice. I'm also prior AF (9 years/3A0X1), looking at going active Army. Was told I'd have to do 10 weeks of BCT...not looking forward to that. Once again nice post!
hey Terrance! I leave in 2 weeks, can you tell me what soldiers do on the weekends at WTC? Detail? ;p also, how many females can I expect, per average, per flight? (Prior AF as well ;)
@LaJuera25 : We really did not have time to do details on the weekend. It was pretty much back to back training (which is good because who wants to be stuck in garrisson twiddling thumbs when you could be done already?) There were a fair number of females per "platoon" (gotta talk in Army terms!) of all ranks.
I completed WTC in Feb 2008 from Fort Sill, OK after having been out of the service since 1986!!! I agree, get into shape before you go. My hang-up was qualifying on the M-16 rifle took longer than the others in the platoon; nevertheless, agewise shouldn't be too bad - I was 45 at the time and there were a few others in their fifties!!!
Well I leave for MEPS tomorrow. Then off to WTC on the 1st. Thanks for posting this video, and answering some of the questions I had. All of you who are going to be there with me.......see ya there!!! Last name is Rucker.
hey thanks for posting this..I'm not sure what class I'm in but I know I'm leaving St Louis, Mo 24 Feb of this month to Ft Sill for the transition course. the video answered most of the question I had. great video..
When did you go through WTC? I have heard they closed WTC in NM. I ship out on March 1 2010, to Ft. Sill. Do they allow smokeless tobacco at all? I have been out of the Marines since 01 and this video helped with some questions I had, thanks for posting it.
I went through WTC in spring 2008. They allowed butts and chew but IIRC you had to be at a smoke pit to use them. Cell phones/laptop computers were also allowed but had to be kept in the barracks and not brought out to training areas.
Just found this video. Looks like I will be there with you. I ship out of St. Louis on 20100303. I was army from 96-99. See you there. Only 1 month left.
There is no more Warrior Transition Course.... all prior service USAF, Navy and Coast Guard will have to go through Basic Training again.
