  • Kathy's totally hot as a blonde...hell, she's hot any way.

  • Did Kathy look hot in that blonde wig and bustier, or did Kathy look hot in that blonde wig and bustier?

  • freash . .beautiful . .energy . . I am glad I was in high school when this great group hit it big . . . ..

  • Thanks for posting this performance I have to say though they should have done Cool Jerk instead of Vacation cause I didn't care too much for their 1990 version of Vacation live

  • Fat juicy chords at 0:41-0:48

    Also they aged very well!

  • I LOVE JANE WIEDLIN!!!!!!!!

  • Silver Balls?

  • Holy crap what a bass line!

  • Thanks for posting. I get a freakin' rush off this even though it reminds me of being in elementary school. You should never totally grow up.

  • what a great post!

  • Great song.

    I love the Go-Go's.

They are one of my very favorite groups ever.

    Thank you for posting this.

  • Hey, your tape is in better shape than Johnny

  • Love this!!

    Thanks for posting it!!

  • I been working with sound companies for over 25 years and agree that the overall mix is horrible. If I were a member of The Go-Go's that night I would have been pissed! (Good clip though!)

  • I went to the show they played that Saturday in Oakland at Henry J. Kaiser Auditorium, drove up that day in my '69 Bug...it was a great show...

  • Charlotte rocks on that electric keyboard!

  • The very picture of '80s feminism.

Fine, talented and beautiful women...who wrote their own stuff, played their own instruments and dictated the style of their generation.

    Thanks for the upload.

  • I agree with everything you just said accept the feminism part, dont exactly think of feminism when I watch this.

  • loved them since the age of six!

  • My Goddess, how I adore these wonderful and talented women... dig the piano bridge 1/2way through. PRICELESS! Goddess Bless The Go-Go's. We LOVE you!

  • RIP Johnny!

  • Man, Belinda is a total Betty! Classic beauty on that bird.

And Jane looks wild with all that hair. I wonder if she was into the dominatrix thing then. She could tie me up and whip my behind any day!

  • First (and only) time I've seen Jane with long hair.. looks good on her.

  • JC Rules!! What a class act!!

  • Love, love Jane. I sought out her CD with her punk band froSTed and it's great!

  • Who's the blonde on the bass???

  • That's still Kathy Valentine sporting one of her many looks. Too bad the Tonight Show's sound mixing was always so bad.

  • "Too bad the Tonight Show's sound mixing was always so bad."

I disagree. I think the band was miked and mixed very well here -- better that on any other Go-go's vid I have seen. You hear the cymbals, the bass drum, even the snares on the snare drum. Clear, sharp bass guitar with no annoying clipping. You can sort of distinguish each singers voice. And Janes guitar is audible and sounds like more than a percussion instrument. So I think the TS did a great job for the band.

  • id hit em all!!!

    a bit randeh, but troo!!!

  • Love them, but it sounds like Belinda's voice is a bit scratchy here--perhaps because it was the end of their tour.

  • 'Vacation' is a top tune, my favourite of theirs. They did a of it version on morning TV in 2006. Video was on here but seems to have been taken down.

  • great stuff! thanks for posting! go go go's; especially jane! yeah!

  • ...an excellent post of when music was simple & sweet & the musicians look gorgeous & palyed well...

  • This is good but this song is not characteristic of there true sound

  • WOW! When bands actually had talent and performed live! No lip sync... Niiiiice. Thanks for the post!

  • extremely beautiful here

  • Thanks for posting the video, not in perfect condition, but still worth watching :)

  • i like kv's wig

  • is it true that jane used to date twiggy ramires of marilyn manson

  • thanks for the video

  • To whoever posted this, THANK YOU! What memories! It was an amazing time to be young, in the 80's. More amazing now that I look back at it, LOL!

Thanks for the video. Its magic to me.

    Regards,

    Robert

  • Charlotte is such an amazing piano player. I wish they used piano even more. That was beautiful.

  • fucking Belinda...such a great post punk lead singer...and of an amazing group. Luv em.

  • Great band and a tight performance. I prefer their music to The Bangles. Belinda Carlisle is such a good singer.

  • Heeeeeeeeeeeeeeeere's the Go Go's!

  • What a wonderful and different version of OLAS...yes, Jane usually hits her solo dead on but it is still a terrific cut and a unique arrangement of the song. I saw them in 2006 and the girls look and sound better than ever - got some great photos!

  • Love Johnny!

  • A great find! Belinda sounds great as usual, Charlotte is obviously the most musically talented, Gina is an awesome drummer, Kathy plays a mean bass and Jane... what can I say except she is adoreable!

  • I went to that Kaiser Auditorium show in Oakland that Johnny mentioned. last date of the tour and they rocked!! As always! Still have my ticket stub!

  • Hey, I did too!! Im sure I have my stub as well... great memory.. ahhh high school.

  • charlotte is the george harrison of the group

    is jane wearing a weave?

  • I love the piano bridge thrown in. Very cool, thank you for posting this! :-)

  • jane's solo there was just a bad patch, she normally sounds great!!!

  • yay its the peace drum!!! i live for that!
