  • What is fairer to say is that Buddy inspired Jimi.

Buddy Guy is awesome-if you ever get the chance to see him in concert-GO!

  • @77tim77c77 Buddy inspired Jimi, Jimi went on to inspire Buddy.

  • I wish there was a way to EQ youtube, so I could bring up the vocals and guitar. Its Really Amazing here, but it is Such a shame that you can hardly hear it.

  • He gets away with that mullet so hard.

  • @sedatedmonkey

Damn right he does. And that shirt, too. But he's still a bad mamma jamma.

  • Saw Buddy last night for the 8th time! He is the BADDEST!!

  • What ever happened to music like this? I mean don't get me wrong, there are a few good artists today but nothing as spectacular and mind melting as this. The world needs to recycle itself and revisit the 50s and 60s.

  • i dont see what everyones obsession with hendrix is. Sure he created a style that wasnt around, but to say that just because he created he is the best is wrong.

  • buddy is amazing!

  • Buddy is the man....There are soo many greats that there is no Best .. I just enjoy everyone of them for what they gave us.....Peace

Check out my bands cover of a Buddy tune ....all comments welcome....Oh Oh !!!

  • If Buddy ain't got blues, no one does.

  • Genial Buddy Guy , pasión por la música Roberto observandoelcielo@yahoo.com.ar

  • he is a man!! I love his hardcore intensified blues attack-"Stone cold blues".....

  • Love Buddy Guy's music. One of the best in "BLUES"...

  • I think Buddy is tops, just love his style of playing and on the soft stuff he plays his special magic............

  • Buddy's the man!

  • yet again buddy guy has his own style compared to hendrix and its a matter of personal opinion

  • yet again buddy guy has his own style compared to hendrix and its a matter of personal opinion

  • that god damn keyboard player needs to calm down and turn the volume down. i cant hear buddy over him

  • withouth buddy guy, no rolling stones, no jimmy hendrix, no srv... and the list is long

along with muddy waters, robert johson, bb king and others, he made what music is nowadays. respect Sir !

  • I believe it's "Blues ain't nothin', but a good man feelin' bad".. but u got the idea..lol

  • best blues tune ever!

  • buddy always plays amazing guitar but mostly for me is the way he sings... he just wales those blues!! get the same thing when i hear wolf!!

  • still confused about "the blues"

The blues music is supposed to be "cool", "deep", whatever.

    "The blues" = depressed

Why the fuck do I want to hear someone "whinning", . . about anything?

The song "Broken Hearts are for Assholes" by Zappa sums it up.

Maybe back in the day the people singing the blues actually had them, . . but for much better reasons

Beside, Buddy Guy don't look like he's got the blues. I don't get the blues listening to this.

  • not all blues is supposed to be depressing to all the listeners, how could it be popular if it made every1 sad, sure some get to some people but thats the point. Blues is about sharing an exerience of your own that may not of been that bad but it wasnt good. It's basically giving your shoes to some1 but not making the person wear them.

  • Then you know nothing about the history of the blues. The Blues was born out of an era where blacks were being hated on and discriminated against. They had very little hope in that era, most just had their music. And so, as their way of telling each other about their problems, they would write songs about them.

  • Well said. But come on, . .

John Mayer playing the blues, . . lol.

I play guitar and always got bored playing the "blues scale", . . mainly because you can easily wind up sounding like everyone else.

So you are right : true blues happened when people actually had a reason to be blue.

If you're some millionaire famous guitar player, . . how blue can you really be?

  • @GaryNull I'm just saying where it came from, really. I don't pretend to know/care about whether people play "true blues" anymore. I know Buddy Guy is a stunning guitarist, as are many blues players. Real blues players are all about improvisation. John Mayer, is not a blues player lol.

  • vary true. i pull all the sadness out of my sole from discrimination, my parents getting divorced, and endless work i have to do on are farm, and put it into my playing. when i started to play the blues i had the same problem as you. but you just keep on working' on you technique, and it will become your own.

  • well why do you listen then ??? seems rather strange

  • I was jamming with my guitar, playing the "blues scale".

  • if your gonna play the blues, don't make fun or doubt them, you poser.

  • you got the wrong idea son.blues takes human sarrow and transforms it to pure beauty. listing to it is supposed to "get you down" or give you "the blues", it just gets message out. blues isn't wining, and playing the blues is a good way to get rid of a broken heart. how much blues have you listen to, any ways?

  • 0:51 very nice bend !!!!!!

  • I bent a string like that once and got a ticket.

  • another great guitar player... i play his music all tha time in my car when i drive....i wish i could go to his club and play that blues with him...its one of my biggest dreams...go to my channel check sum of tha blues i play

  • Buddy plays that guitar like he's making love to his favorite woman.

  • your mother?

  • yeah, my mother, cause yours is a lesbian.

  • ouch!

  • Tony Z on the B3 adds so much to BuddyGuy and his band....Keep bringin' it!

  • How can you comment on this you cant even hear Buddys guitar. Bobany1 I love watching buddy but he suck when it sounds like he is trapped in a water tank.

  • Buddy guy is a gorilla hes huge, and alot taller than hendrix bobany1. anyone who compares hendrix and buddy, guitar wise is mentally retarded.. both ledgends leave it at that.. -,- you cant compare the two because one is dead and has not been playing as long, hendrix admired buddy guy.. doesn't mean he is better.

  • Comment removed

  • Buddy is wonderful, but the Interaction between all members of the Band is exceptional....Great Music..:-)

  • I personally thing buddy is better than hendrix...

  • I think Hendrix was probably taller than Buddy - but then again ... that doesn't mean I think he was better ....

    Only probably taller ....

    Maybe

  • @bobany1 you ever see how short SRV is, hes like 5 foot. you can tell when he stands next to who ever he is playing with. he stood next to the bassist(who is a normal sized person) and was dwarfed lol.

  • Comment removed

  • you mean, you personally like Buddys artwork more than Hendrix'. Saying his better would be wrong

  • I mean that putting musicians in some kind of 'league table' is sad

  • you are so right, Bob!!

  • @bobany1 To me...they're both Kings. Jimi was a 1 of a kind and Buddy was too. I'd have loved to see the 2 of them preform together. Blues Heaven, man!

  • @bobany1 totally agreed

  • @FreddiehKing It obvious where Hendrix got his licks.

  • @FreddiehKing Very well spoken.

  • of course, buddy guy is better than hendrix

  • ur gay

  • @ZribTurd i agree.

  • @ZribTurd The Wind Cries Mary

  • @ZribTurd Buddy is still alive so he wins.

  • @ZribTurd i bthink no one is better than hendrix... but as great as him, sure!! ;)

  • @ZribTurd hENDRIX owed alot to buddy.... but wait....................... wait..... .listen to "space guitar" by JOHNNY GUITAR WATSON....... this is the first shredder........... this was BUddy guys biggest inspiration..... he even said so..... he said he wanted to get out the feeling of guitar watson..... but have the smoothness of bb king.... fuckin best guy ever......

  • @codehendrix I'm sorry, I forgot what I posted originally, but whatever I said it was probably a mistake, so my bad.

  • @codehendrix he was talking about guitar slim in that interview. It's an easy mistake, there are too many players with the word "guitar" in their nickname lol. Guitar Slim was the same guy who played "The Things I Used To Do." Guitar slim did alot of the crazyness that Buddy did, like the teeth, behind the head, jumpin on peoples backs, playin in crowds, etc. that Jimi would later adapt into his show from Buddy.

  • @ZribTurd

    2 different styles..cant compare!!

  • BUDDY GUY is amazing this guitar is amazing this song is amazing everything is amazing.

  • i fuckin love this guy. He's the man that influenced hendrix so there is something to be said there.

  • blues and whisky..that's it...buddy is the man...

  • Im more into metal, but this is so talented and amazing

  • Buddy showing and telling it like it is."electric" .He' still tears it up today like no one close to his age..

  • Indeed,,,,but dont forget about Johnny Winter

  • Let em' man. More for us.

  • true blues.....

  • DAMN straight man. This is the real deal, soul-filled blues. Love it, love it.

  • haha you're right.. this is a piece of real golden music. xD

im olny 13 but still, blues is in my blood xD

  • a Shame!!

  • Nobody bends the strings like Buddy Guy...

  • lol it's almost like his improivising the fills/solo's... is he? lol he's such a fantastic guitarist. seems very loose spirit, must be hard to work with as a musician, all improvising the lyrics and what not

  • a big part of the blues is improvisation- the blues is the reason for all guitar solos ever- and buddy does it like no one else

    gotta love the guy

  • best stuff buddy did was with junior wells.

  • Great!

  • Listen to that guitar scream, Buddy Guy is the man, he's really go the blues (damn right!)

  • (Damn Right) he can sing the blues!

  • yeah man, Buddy Guy is where it's at, him and Albert Collins (RIP).

  • you forgot muddy waters!

  • True, and Albert king,B King, Freddie king, Otis Rush,Luther Allison, Robert Johnson, Lightning Hopkins, Hound Dog Taylor, Elmore James,SRV and many more I have forgotten or not discovered yet! Thanks for reminding me of Muddy, and the numerous other greats, long live the blues!

  • he his such a badass
