@SicilyJoel You're the dumbest person who has ever written on youtube. Buddy Guy's guitar reminding you of hendrix...its the other way around. Buddy Guy was a huge influence for Jimi
If you can't appreciate this you have no soul!!!!! Buddy gives you his heart and soul each performance, he is a living legend give the man his respect......long live Da Blues!
I just saw the DVD Festival Express last night, and wanted to share one of the live performances of my favorite blues guitarist with you, am sure you love this as much as I do. :-) That was my comment when I shared this video out today!
Buddy Guy is coming to where I live for the 2nd Annual Lakefront Jazz and Blues festival on July 17th.... you're damn right I'm going. Shit I live so close I'd be able to hear him all the way from my house, with all my windows shut!!! Gonna be hella fun, last year Johnny Lang came, he rocked the whole damn thing!
I don't like Hendrix I'm not taking away the fact that he was an excellent guitarist. But the fact that Hendrix idolised buddy an learnt alot speaks volumes. Buddy guy Is awesome the last of the true blues players are fading thick an fast. We need to carry the torch on.
I'm a sixteen year old guitarist from england, i'm in a blues trio and buddy is my favourite guitarist! This is my trios cover of this song, please listen and tell me what you think!
Buddy Guy is my man ....been there with Chess and seen the blues evolve ..damn right i got the blues and slipin' in are just classic's ......not only great bluesman but an awesome showman.

I wish there was a way to EQ youtube, so I could bring up the vocals and guitar. Its Really Amazing here, but it is Such a shame that you can hardly hear it.
What ever happened to music like this? I mean don't get me wrong, there are a few good artists today but nothing as spectacular and mind melting as this. The world needs to recycle itself and revisit the 50s and 60s.
i dont see what everyones obsession with hendrix is. Sure he created a style that wasnt around, but to say that just because he created he is the best is wrong.
not all blues is supposed to be depressing to all the listeners, how could it be popular if it made every1 sad, sure some get to some people but thats the point. Blues is about sharing an exerience of your own that may not of been that bad but it wasnt good. It's basically giving your shoes to some1 but not making the person wear them.
Then you know nothing about the history of the blues. The Blues was born out of an era where blacks were being hated on and discriminated against. They had very little hope in that era, most just had their music. And so, as their way of telling each other about their problems, they would write songs about them.
@GaryNull I'm just saying where it came from, really. I don't pretend to know/care about whether people play "true blues" anymore. I know Buddy Guy is a stunning guitarist, as are many blues players. Real blues players are all about improvisation. John Mayer, is not a blues player lol.

still confused about "the blues"
The blues music is supposed to be "cool", "deep", whatever.
"The blues" = depressed
Why the fuck do I want to hear someone "whinning", . . about anything?
The song "Broken Hearts are for Assholes" by Zappa sums it up.
Maybe back in the day the people singing the blues actually had them, . . but for much better reasons
Beside, Buddy Guy don't look like he's got the blues. I don't get the blues listening to this.
GaryNull 2 years ago

Well said. But come on, . .
John Mayer playing the blues, . . lol.
I play guitar and always got bored playing the "blues scale", . . mainly because you can easily wind up sounding like everyone else.
So you are right : true blues happened when people actually had a reason to be blue.
If you're some millionaire famous guitar player, . . how blue can you really be?
